  • Hydrogen Peroxide for Treating Hair Algae -
    If your aquarium is infested with stubborn green algae, for example, or blue-green algae, we highly recommend treating the entire tank with hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). Such a treatment should always be considered the last resort, and it should only be applied when the standard methods have failed and you're about to just give up on your aquarium because you cannot get rid of the algae. Use a dosage as high as necessary and as low as possible in order to spare the animals in your tank undue stress. Certain plants like Riccardia sp. (coral moss) or Riccia fluitans (liverwort) may be damaged in the course of this treatment. Some other aquatic plants may turn a lighter color temporarily, but this is not necessarily a sign that the plant is dead.

    You could have taken out the fish and then proceeded with the h. peroxide treatment.

    You could have tried putting a Siamese algae eater fish. I've read it eats black hair algae effectively.

      @FwrapperAqua  4 года назад +1

      OK.. But I heard that siamese algae eater will finish up some varieties of moss so I did not try them

      SAE eaters eats hair algae but as they grow bigger they attack other small fish and may eat anything that fits their mouth so ottocinculus is much better choice for this

      Not safe for the Oto that got into it directly. His gills were bleached.. Died. Maybe the algae eating fishes should be removed until the water change..

  • @jsduun9
    @jsduun9 4 года назад +2

    of course do not do this at home, it is obvious that the inhabitants should have been removed before. hydrogen peroxide is very aggressive with all living things. the algae will come back stronger ...
