I read that 20 years ago and I’m afraid the only aspects I can remember are the rape (and the voyeurism scene) and the multi-generational aspect, which is original. Can’t remember the Becket bit, that historical moment for me is all associated with Peter O’Tooole and Rowan Atkinson I’m afraid😂
Well done on getting through it, I came close to abandoning it, the obsession with rape, it was way to indulgent, was an uncomfortable read, a shame really.
