    I recently took my bobber to the Indian dealership to have some work done. One of the jobs I requested was for them to remove the rear fender and to fabricate a cover for the subframe. Long story short, they wouldn’t do the job. They said that the subframe cover is a structural piece that anchors part of the frame. Apparently a sheet of rolled steel isn’t strong enough to do the job. They couldn’t find a thick enough piece of metal to fill the subframe, so they didn’t end up doing the job for me. I ended up splurging on the tank machine subframe cover and after getting it, I noticed that it is a really solid and thick piece of steel. Looking back, I think the mechanics at the dealership were correct. I’m telling you this as an FYI so that you’re safe while riding, and also so you don’t do any unforeseen damage to your frame. If you look at the part of your rear fender that connected to rear subframe, you’ll see that that part is considerably thicker than the rolled steel you used.
    Ride safe

      I understand where you are coming from as far as the plate being an integral part of the frame structure. Tank machine has also built bikes with the same thickness sheet of steel, not the thick cast aluminum that they sell. I work at a dealership, so I am not surprised that they did not want to fabricate anything for your bike. There is too much liability on their part. I have had others ask me to make them a plate, however I also do not want that liability. At the end of the day, you must do what makes you feel safe. Just like I live in a helmet free state, yet never ride without one. I appreciate you bringing this to my attention. Take care.

    I’m from SC as well now station in GA I’m looking to do the same mod for my 2019 Scout bobber however I’m not that talented. Wanted to know if you may be able to replicate the plate cover I would be willing to pay for it.

    Did you have to remove the rear wheel to get to the 4 bolts from the subframe? also what size are those subframe bolts? Thanks

    • @oxouk
      @oxouk  4 года назад +1

      Not sure of the bolt size, 17 or 19mm, either way, they are the stock bolts, but no you don't have to remove the rear wheel.

    Did you have to remove the rear to remove the subframe and install your block off plate?

    • @oxouk
      @oxouk  3 года назад +2

      I did not have to remove the rear wheel if that's what you meant. The order is seat, side rails with tail lights, fender, then subframe. When you remove the 4 large bolts holding on the sub frame, there are some tough plastic tabs that you have to wrestle before the subframe comes free. It's not hard, just take your time.

      I don’t, but when you remove the rear subframe, just trace around the mounting surface onto a piece of poster paper and make a template.

    is it okay to just remove the fender then leave the stock seat? because i dont want to change the stock seat

    • @oxouk
      @oxouk  2 года назад

      If you remove the fender only, you’ll see that there is a sub frame underneath which houses your tail lights. That subframe is what gives support for the seat. Unfortunately there is no way as far as I know to keep the stock seat and have the rear naked look.

    Did you have to cut the subframe when you removed the rear fender?

    • @oxouk
      @oxouk  4 года назад +2

      After I removed the fender, I removed the sub frame which is held on by 4 bolts. So to answer your question...no I didn't have to cut the sub frame, just remove it.

    oxouk, Do you know if the rear fender removal process is the same as the Victory Octane?

    • @oxouk
      @oxouk  3 года назад +1

      I’m not sure, however it’s pretty simple. Remove 4 screws (2 each side) to remove the fender. Then 4 bolts holding on the subframe. When removing the subframe I remember some stubborn plastic clips that I had to wrestle with. Your tail lights will simply unplug under your seat area, no need to cut wires unless you shorten them for relocation like I did.
