This guy completely changed the way I play guitar. He is old enough to be my grandchild but you’re never too old to learn new tricks. The fluidity that this style creates really changes the very nature of solo passages on the guitar making them more vocal in style.
Do you have his tutorial dvd from licklibrary? It's well worth a look.
Lee Demkiw I’ll take a look - thanks
Thanks for having me PG! Lockdown Rundown next?! 😆
Yes please!
If you're not following this guy's channel you are behind the curve. Every video of his I watch I realize more and more how much my quest for speed is detrimental to my quest for melodic ideas and phrasing. This gets my head right.
tonepoet Did you see him on Norman’s Rare Guitars channel? His playing style stands out a mile....
@@jonobuckley3215 I'll definitely check this out, the guy's a beast of a player. Thanks!
Thank you PG / CB / AV folks! Just when you think all the possible approaches to the guitar have been exhausted, someone like Mr. Chris Buck comes along... and old is made new again. What inspiration! Thank you so very much for sharing your insights and talents, Chris - cheers!
Best guy to learn about dynamics and bending from!
Let's not forget about Guthrie Govan. He knows more than everyone.
@@leedemkiw6085 honestly, I want to demistify Guthrie as a god. Yeah, he is one of the true masters of the XXI century in the guitar area, but he is just a jazzy/fusion evolution of the guitar greats of the XX century. His phrasing is very inspired in the Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd or Derek Trucks mixed with the jazz influences. Yes, he is truly a master of the instrument, but in terms of phrasing, he didn't invent anything at all, he just learnt it and applyed to his own style! I think we should do the same, go to the "greats" to know what made them great and know how to apply the things we like about them in our own playing. That being said, I'm a big Guthrie fan and I always love to learn from him, but I don't think he is the "guitar oracle", we have to go beyond to see where he drew his stuff :)
Goldtop revstar and those aged p90s. Beautiful.
Best new player I’ve heard in years , glad to see him getting exposure . Best new player on Fender hands down
What a time to be alive. So many incredible sources of inspiration and information from these YT stars. That was wonderful Chris!
I absolutely love the tone you’re getting out of that Revstar!!!
The most important guitarist of a generation imo
So much sophistication in Chris's playing. My inner magpie tells me to subscribe to his channel:-))
This guy is awesome, top class!
Very nice player. Very very nice player. Very very very nice player. You get the idea.
Thank you for teaching that intonate bend at 3:00 @Chrisbuck. It’s the most beautiful, musical addition to the guitarists toolbox in recent times. Hard to master .. but I’ll get there. You’re a treasure mate 🙏🏼
Great lesson Chris! Very useful information and well presented.
And now, I need time in the saddle to get this right.
Cheers
Thank you brother. Great vid 👊🤙
Chris's technique is FIRE. I am gonna spend a week or a month prebending notes and getting them in tune.
Muy buena lección Chris .Gracias .
This!
I notice that after completing the 1/2 step bend and returning to the step bend, you do a slight glissando up to the whole step bend,.... is that for intonation or added effect?
Is that a Yamaha revstar.? You sound a,axing great tone and playing
TONE
WTF. Insane playing Chris.
Beautiful tone, obviously it's largely Chris's phenomenal playing, but what's he playing through here? (amps, pedals)
Chris uses Guitar Rig software for his 'Friday Fretworks' so I'd expect this to be the same
Aht drive are you using?
What guitar is it? Yamaha ?
Custom shop Revstar Yamaha made to Chris Buck's specs and awarded to him at NAMM earlier this year.

Eee bah goom!
What strings gage please here on the video?
Hey. They’re Ernie Ball Power Slinky. 11s 🙂
what guitar is he using?
yamaha revstar
Custom Yamaha RS502 made for him with the gold top. Hope Yamaha bring it out to the masses with that gold top!
LOL!
now I want a Yamaha electric
You know. To be like one of my Guitar hero's
waw this is what i like to play and hear.24 hours a day 7 days a week 365 days a year ×1000000
Yes! You shouldn’t over use vibrato. Like zakk wylde? That guy never over dose it with the note wiggles. 😂😂😂
my king of bends: Guthrie Govan
This video would be better if we could see the fingers next to the frets he's playing. His hand hides it a bit.
B string = Bend the string!
how to break your strings 101
The best vibrato technique, for beefy playing, uses the finger only, with no guitar movement.
chris have you found the perfect p90s yet
totally obvious the beginning vid was not played in real time it was sped up
How did you know?
Oh? Just looks like Chris' playing to me
it's not. his watche juggling relative to his movement adds up and if you play back the video in a slower speed shit sounds way off
Not sure what to say to this really...
Lol clearly you’ve never seen this man play, he does this all the time cause he’s just that incredible 🤷🏾♂️
