Dan Gon The true loser is someone who still uses gay as an insult in 2019. Either you’re an immature adult or a moronic kid. And when did he imply GW2 was his life? He just said this video inspires him to jump back into the game. How does that suddenly mean it’s his life?
that does not work for me, but i still play gw2 once on a while... bc i can, unlike other mmos and the best is that you dont have to worry about catching up with more levels or better gear
This aged well. Till now gw2 is still one-of-a-kind, companies just keep on spewing out boring mmos with the same old boring stuff- and so here we are, 2021, an mmo lover still playing a 9 year old game.
I cant wait for it to hit steam. The games population is already enormous but being on steams gonna inject hundreds of thousands of new players. It doesnt need steam, but more players is always good
@@jonathansoko1085 I don't know if they're even going to go to steam at this point, but not only will it bring more players if they do, but a whole lot of current players like me will make another account just for steam, and spend a lot of money getting it set up. They haven't been transparent about why they "postponed" the plans, and that annoys me.
6 years later: its even better now with path of fire and unique mounts that each do a different thing. redone water combat so its more fast and fun, and refined development of all story, missions, and community driven content. The community is actually nice too, and cares about each other: like he said, no raging over people stealing your hard work (or camp) out from under you... that promotes community kindness.
One thing I've noticed, the raiding community "can" sometimes feel a bit limiting at times, but that's mostly in the high end content groups. Most times with low end raid groups or low tiers of "fractals" (basically hard mode dungeons that also add their own mechanics in higher tiers), the community is more relaxed, though it's naturally expected that you know your class and the basics of raiding/dungeons. But yeah, aside from that, most folks are more than willing to help other players out with their questions or even helping clear content sometimes. And the consistency of content being added always gives you something to do each time you log in. That's why I always find myself coming back to this game.
I just started playing less than a week ago and in that week i've had more fun social interactions just doing shit in the world than i have in the last 10 years playing World of Warcraft.
Vulpes Inculta you think I should try it out since it’s free? I’ve never played anything from the guild wars series but I’m definitely no stranger when it comes to mmo’s
This was the first angry review that i saw from Joe. This was the first video that i saw from him and it brings me a lot of nostalgia of the gaming indust. back then... I've been playing GW2 since it's launch and still is my favourite MMORPG of all time... I cannot wait for the future of the game and a possible GW3 or new expansion. This game still kicks ass. It's worth everything and now that it's f2p it deserves to be played without a doubt.
Guild Wars 2 is probably one of my favorite MMO in years. full of content and locations to explore. I recommend this MMO for players both old and new 2 to the genre.
GW2 seems to be for people that do not thoroughly enjoy typical MMOs like WoW, or TESO, personally it's the only i've enjoyed so far (I play mostly WvW)
4 years later now and this game is unrealisticly good with all of the negatives mentioned in this review removed and the positives improved on. Definitely the best in it's genre.
demonsangells im a new player and i don't regret buying gw2 totally worth every penny. was a bit hesitant since ive heard some ppl say that it was dying.
I just bought the game and am thoroughly impressed - not only with how amazing the game looks on max settings but the combat, events, people you bump into constantly, crafting - it literally has been an amazing game. ANyone that hates on this, I'd love to hear what game they think is better.
I really like both WoW and GW2. the only thing I don't really like about GW2 though, is that you only have style-gear as progression. Granted the loot-cycle type (like in WoW) isn't the best way either but at least you feel like you're progressing more in a way. but that is just me though. Since I actually did the grind for Eternity (the Legendary Sword consisting of both Twilight and Sunrise) I have not much left to do for the way I like to play GW2. granted I haven't played the new expansion and from what I've heard mounts are insanely fun and usefull! I think you can't really compare GW2 to other MMOs since it does so many things differently, but in a good way! in GW2 the achievements actually matter and going out of your way to find secrets is extremely rewarding unlike most other MMOs. there is not much I actually dislike about GW2 but the things that I do dislike hold me back from returning to the game at the moment, namely 2 things: the before mentioned "lack" of progression (but that is just me being dumb) and a more valid reason: my favourite about GW1 back in the day, the mixed classes and the 8 skills you could pick out of your, I dunno, 5 million-ish skills... but yeah like I said it's just me being dumb :D GW2 is an awesome game and I can easily recommend it to anyone who liked GW1, who likes MMOs and even to newcomers of the genre aswell
@@traveling.down.the.road56 Its more of a critique now than it is reviewing . He's toned down on the "angry" persona a bit and has Other Joe and this guy Alex (unclear when he joined tbh) but they all review stuff in a forum manner instead of Joe solely running it .
I just bought this game and i gotta say no mmo gave me an impression as big as this even at the start, even the community looks really nice and supportive, thanks for the review joe. Oh and to all of those WoW fanboys about to get salty on me, LOOK AT ALL THE FUCKS I DON'T GIVE *DANCES MY WAY OUT*
Wow Fanboy HERE!! Yay just want to point out GW2 Is a really good game the only reason i pref wow is casue theres more endgame content, spells in it,Otherwise guild wars is a REALLY AMAZIng game maybe a mount would be cool at least for the looks :)
The coolness in this comment that you wrote is out of limits bro and is it really worth it and what reqs do I need to run it smoothly ?nthanks in advance
Alex FDSR hahah...yeah I heard they are one of the worst companies in the USA (in the entertainment business ofcourse) .I also heard they were top 10 companies with worst worker conditions in the U.S.
when i saw this review back in 2012 he made this game seem like it was gonna be so much fun filled with tons of epicness. well be prepared to hit max level in under a month, get full geared in under a month, and be bored again in under a month. speaking from personal experience actually playing
So, Guild wars 2 is basically everything good about RPGMMOS, cranked up to 11, then took some steroids and got cranked up to eleven again? Sounds like an RPGMMO that suits me perfectly. (If i can run it)
gabriel gochev i actually installed guild wars 2 some time after i watched this review, and holy SHIT i want to keep playing it. i have just unlocked the personal story, but i haven't downloaded it yet (i clicked "play" when it was at "playable")
Yeah, if you buy it you'll have 5. They had to do some restrictions for the free players (a lot of the veterans got mad enough, saying there needed to be even more restrictions). I got one slot for buying the expansion as a veteran, another one was in the expansion pack (I bought the most expensive one) and another one I bought for gems in the shop.
I was a long long time WoW player and I just started playing Guild wars 2 at the end of January. I am absolutely loving this game I truly wish I started playing it so much sooner. It's leaps and bounds more fun than WoW or any other MMO.
Joshua Carubba well jahtzee explained it pretty much the hole entire server is essentially a party :D also dynamic events and hearts are way better then collect 10 off these like in wow
You mean limitations for a game that was once P2P right? Cause there are alot of F2P games with zero limitations. Two examples being Wildstar and Path of Exile.
I wouldnt call it limited since you have like 95% of the full game avaiable. The few things that are locked (map chat, mail restriction ...etc ) are mostly to prevent Gold seller.
@waslos man they're good. for starters it's actually free to play now. if you decide to purchase the game, you are purchasing the latest expansion which is mostly just 'end game' content.
@@RakusTalent It still a very solid game, but like most MMO it suffer from feature creep without fixing or refining what come before. I still have fun in bursts but not in long session.
My previous comment might be a bit misleading. The game is still incredibly fun and you will sink months into it and still have things to do and collect. Combat is great, crafting is great, exploration is great. All the things about fixing and stuff aren't really an issue. Recently just got back into the game and i still have fun
This game is still good, especially to play during the summer, and it's easy to get back into if you take a break from it since there's no subscriptions fees or anything, yet everyone who plays the game continuously does nothing but bitch about it. Seriously they'll find anything to complain about, even if they play daily.
Na...I stopped playing completely because it is nothing like Guild Wars 1. GW1 was easily the best mmo around. I've put 1000+ hours into GW1 back in the day but can barely get to 100 hours on GW2. Nothing like the og. I just wish more people would come back to GW1.
Fishstick Gaming This is exactly what i'm talking about. You can't not like something just because it isn't the original. I'm sure if you enjoyed Guild wars 1 you enjoyed Guild wars 2. They are very similar, just with a few ideas scrapped and a few ideas brought to the table. The only thing I miss the most about GW1 was having 2 professions, other than that it's almost like a direct upgrade.
Frodo Baggins I did enjoy Guild Wars 2. But not enough to put a ton of hours into like I did Guild Wars 1. GW1, in my opinion, was much more team orientated. Having to make sure you had a good team with monks/eles/necs/etc.., and completely going away from that in GW2 is what I didn't like. Also I loved the fact that I could change my build so much more than GW2. It made the game more interesting by having to go unlock all the skills, cap the elite skills etc just to make sure you have the best build. It basically took a lot more thought than the current game.
Fishstick Gaming I guess some people found that fun, but a lot of people weren't happy putting so much time into unlocking the skills. I think that's the main reason that concept was scrapped in GW2, and replaced with unlocking traits, and quickly getting weapon skills through combat. That way it's still somewhat rewarding and takes less time to accomplish.
This is the best (video) game review I have ever seen! I have watched this a bunch of times already. So straight to the point. with lots of footage, in-depth without getting boring, lots of humor but most importantly: a review that gives you a clear idea about the game and what it's about. A solid 10/10.
Guy Random I played this game shortly after release, and this review accurately describes the game at that time. I rarely ever had to deal with queue times, though, because I was on a low population server.
August 28, 2018 is _Guild Wars 2's_ sixth anniversary. I won't cover ALL the changes and advancements, but since this initial video review, it has had two expansions- _Heart of Thorns_ (2015, coincidentally the same year I joined) and _Path of Fire_ (2017)- and has an active world story-line in the form of between-the-expansions Living World (currently on Season Four, Chapter Three as of this posting). A ninth occupation was added with _HoT:_ the blindfolded and heavy-armor Revenant, who channels the power of legendary heroes and monsters from the Mists (spoiler: they're all characters from _Guild Wars 1!_ ) into the living world. On top of adding the Revenant, _all nine occupations_ have horizontal-development expansions called *Elite Specializations,* which you can evolve your characters into, and grants you further access to a unique weapon for each. An example of this from each weight class: -- light armor Mesmer can evolve into a *Chronomancer* (reducing Skill cooldowns) or a *Mirage* (more deceptions). -- medium armor Ranger can evolve into a *Druid* (healing specialist) or a *Soulbeast* (can physically merge with their Pet to bestow that particular critter's capabilities onto the player). -- heavy armor Revenant can evolve into two different multiple-player-buffing types- *Herald* (gaining access to Legendary Dragon Stance, which can bestow _unlimited-duration boons_ ) and the *Renegade* (Legendary Charr Stance, brings NPC ghost allies to the fight). A new five-player dungeon system called *Fractals of the Mists* came around, which increases in difficulty depending on which Tier you play. (NOTE: Fractals _does not replace_ the Personal Story-based open-world Dungeons mentioned here by Angry Joe. But, unlike the latter, Fractals gets a new dungeon added every six months-or-so). *Raids* are similar, but on a larger scale with bigger objectives, and can be played by a full Squad (25 players per map). *Guild Halls* with customization decorations and non-combat buffs and bonuses. *Festivals* were added within the first year, most of which have become annual events. These festivals... -- *Wintersday* (aka generic Christmas without the "Christian" parts, and Santa Claus is replaced with a toy-gifting technomage asura named Toymaker Tixx) -- *Halloween* (PRAISE -JOKO- MAD KING THORNE AND HIS BLOODY PRINCE!) -- *Lunar New Year* (aka Chinese New Year, with a 5v5 PvP mode called "DragonBall") -- *Festival of the Four Winds* (like an east Asian bazaar, but paired with a separate open world NPC gauntlet) -- *Super Adventure Box* (directly inspired by and homage to 8- and 16-bit console video games from the 1980s and '90s, complete with low-resolution pixel-like enemies and weapons, and tons of iconic game easter eggs. Save the Princess Miya[moto] from the tyrannical Lord Vanquish by fighting through platformer-like Worlds!) ...are breaks in the monotony of regular content, and bring the player base together for their unique limited-time events. *Gliding* was added with _Heart of Thorns,_ meaning fatal falls aren't much of an issue in open world/PvE or Story Mode, and it allows you to reach places you couldn't previously by walking or jumping. You can't stay up forever, but through the Mastery system you can extend your airtime. *Mounts* were added with _Path of Fire,_ with a selection of [currently] six animals to ride on with purchasable skins, and each mount has a different unique ability to help you get around all of Tyria! You cannot fight while riding a mount, and you will be knocked off of it if enough damage occurs while riding, but you can perform an opening strike against opponents for an initial advantage. (Mounts are currently restricted to open world/PvE and Story Mode.)
EVA_Unit_4A well spoken man, respect, me and my sister started playing about 4-5 years ago and seeing how the game has grown and evolved is just incredible, wouldn’t you agree?
+shadowthehh2 Anet charged you 50 more dollars for an expansion that you didn't have to pay for if you didn't want it. For that money you got a glider, 4 maps, some of them with 4 layers of content. You got raids and new specs for your toons, and new gear as well, but Anet didn't put out more armor that would force you to grind just to keep up. It costs money to develop content. If Anet didn't eventually expand their universe GW2 would slowly lose players to fresher games. If you are tired of it, that is fair, but Anet has given you a lot of value over the years, and it is continuing to strive to do so. I don't think that many established players are being fair, no one is holding a gun to your head and forcing you to buy HoT, or to play it.
2017 - Game is still extremely popular, new expansion, big playerbase, core game is free to play (pay for expansions), and they have raids/heroic dungeons.
I'd like to see an updated opinion of yours on this Game Joe, now everything has improved - Also it would be AWESOME! if you did a Heart Of Thorns DLC Review :p
the game is not that great as you say it is. aside there's no challenge in pve(world bosses die with the speed of light) etc, it took them 2 years to add new arena pvp mode, and 2 and half years to announce expansion. Aion is launching expansion every year did they fix the bugs and glitches on the dungeons, like bosses don't use their skills when players are stacked together or is it still there?
TassadarGR in a game that has a slogan "play the way you like" what do you think should be the endgame content? www, fractal, pvp, legendary weapon crafting are all end game content. Raids are on the way as we know, so what would you like more? boobs?
I pretty much went through this game 100mph. I regret it and feel like making a new character, take all my choices slowly and thoughtfully and actually read/listen to every side-conversation and such. Take more time and enjoy the world.
i think it's just when you play many multiplayer games you get the feeling of people watching you and sh*t that's why you go fast. well, at least that's the case for me
I'm taking this game like i take any RPG, nice and slow, enjoying every bit of the content, reading the quests, exploring the map, taking screens, helping people out in events, crafting a bit now and then, joining guild events. It's all fun. My only gripe with it is that you level too fast and comabt feels too easy in the zones of your level. Bosses and some tough events are thoroughly challenging though. I'm glad the game rewards exploration since i love to do that in ALL games.
Dangerosu the level scaling are a bit of a pain. sometimes it's a bit too easy, some times you can't even do serious damage to a grunt type enemy despite exotic gears. but the diverse quests makes up for it I think, so definitely worth taking the time to do each quests thoroughly.
yeah here, and its really funny cause i got into it again like a month ago, i let go off it because i used to play lol semi competetively and guild wars 2 is quite timeeating ^^ now i kinda regret the choice because due to the living world and the changes that came in the last couple of years, this game evolved even more. Of Course the game is kind of "old" and without add ons you might see a weakpoint in graphics if u pay attention to it a lot but hell yeah the gameplay is the best out there in terms of MMO's. I think from a more critical point of view its quite sad that there is still no trading system but other than that i do not think that any of the problems he called out in this video is still in the game. (Yeah for everyone out there saying HoT had some weak points in post 80 "leveling" might be right, but thats only a bit frustrating on the first character!)
Everything good mentioned in this video is still good in 2020. Everything bad mentioned in this video got fixed years ago. He also mentioned that $60 was well worth it. In 2020, it is $30 for the full game plus both expansions.
Well done! I did the same thing with my time in 2020. Crafted Twilight sometime in early summer, and got my skyscale as well. Been on a bit of a break since after the Halloween event. But I'll be back in full swing soon enough. I can never stay away for too long.
Best mmo I've played so far. I know this is an old ass video but just got to level 80 and found this in my watch list. Not spent a single buck on the game and still got so much out of it. And so much more left. No boring ass grinding, everything you do is fun, and what a great community. Never got bored of it and never will. I'll keep taking usual breaks and getting back to this game. Might buy heart of thorns in the future to unlock more game.
"High populated"? At the moment, both oldschool and new Runescape have more concurrent players than GW2. Not together, separately. It tracks less than 250k unique players each month - not a dead game, still an active fanbase, and if you personally enjoy it then I'm not doubting you and am glad but "highly populated"? They have to use "megaserver" load nonsense to keep players in other servers together most of the time, which is why the game shits itself every content patch when 10,000 more people than usual log in and cause the servers to crash in populated zones. While I appreciate that a lot of people still love GW2, and I don't want to go after anyone who is still playing the game, calling it "highly populated" is an outright lie. For MMOs, if you want substantial and regular content updates, legitimate dungeon improvements, new raids and PvP content that gets the community together... you need at least a million players for that, otherwise you end up with expansions like Heart of Thorns and End of Dragons. Even though Path of Fire added 3 more "raids", having only 10 people working together is an insult to the concept of raiding. WvW is still just an endless zergfest, the PvP maps and challenges haven't improved even slightly over the course of 3 expansions - and while fans of the current content are definitely having a blast, the game went from multiple million players at peak to under 250k a month. You should be worried, NCSoft pulled the plug on Wildstar Online when it hit less than 200k unique players a month, and apparently they were raking in quite a lot from player housing microtransactions.
@@thejanitor3337 The servers have literally never crashed. Like ever, they have even touted their clean track record in their blog posts by saying that in the past 10 years, it's had 99.99% server uptime. I also want to add that the megaservers were not added to increase the people you see, its so that people can still play with each other if they are on different servers. The other thing is that just because its a megaserver doesn't mean that there is only one instance of the map, there is always multiple instances of maps, sometimes 3-4 instances of maps that have reached capacity so the game keeps making new overflow servers.
@@RedNuii "The servers have never crashed, ever" "Source: trust me bro" You have got to be fucking kidding me with this fanboy shit. There is not, nor has there ever been, nor will there ever be, an online service with a userbase of multitudes, that has not experienced a crash. "99.9% uptime over ten years". Ten years is 87,408 hours. That means the servers were running without stop for 86,533.92 hours, according to your post. Only 874.08 hours of downtime. Which is fucking impossible, because the server downtime for maintenance alone (which they have always performed at least once a month) would have been, at MINIMUM, 1,440 hours of downtime. You don't know what the fuck you're talking about. I was there on the day when Heart of Thorns launched. The servers fucking crashed, bro. I don't know what to tell you. People couldn't even log on for hours during peak. Stop lying out your asses just because a game you enjoy has deep flaws that haven't been fixed in over 10 years of operation.
I bought this game full price (After going shop to shop and finding the last copy in town) purely on Joe's recommendation. And it was a great decision. I love this game. Joe you were totally on the mark with this review. Beautiful, creative, addictive, revolutionary. Guild Wars 2 is a winner.
I would say more than worth it's price, as joe say 10x over but even more so nowadays. especially with all the living world updates that are free if u log in while they're active :):):)
Can I ask a simple question mate? I'd like to buy GW2 HoT and play it with my gf BUT she's afraid that we couldn't play together. (completing quests for the storyline and basicaly play together) How it's done in-game? thx for ur reply
GW2 is a great game to play as a couple....there's no factionalization so you won't even run into issues if she wants to play race A and you want to play race B. You'll be able to go to all of the same places together.
You know Guild Wars 2 is great when the new WOW expansions are trying to mimic what Guild Wars does, but it still fails at it. Battle for Azeroth was the end of my WOW journey forever now. I had GW2 since launch but for some reason didn't stick with it. Joe was right here, the game's systems are fundamentally better than WOW. Everything you do matters, the whole game is set up so that it is naturally more social, combat feels better, it has mounts now which are better than WOW since each mount has its own unique uses and character, there is just so much stuff to do and collect, the music is absolutely amazing, crafting and exploration are handled better, and all of this WITHOUT A MONTHLY FEE! Finally bought a skin after years because I felt kind of bad I've been playing the game for so long without giving them more money, its weird. Even Guild Wars 1 is still going and my Sun Spear Paragon guy is still there from like a decade ago. How do they do it? Well this game has killed WOW for me and I hope it does for others. Best Angry Review
I stopped playing GW2 some week after it was released, mainly because I was bored and alone. A friend who played from start untill now invited me to try it again so I re-installed the game and honestly I was blown the fuck away. The amount of content they put in that game during those two last years for a F2P model is just insane. He also showed me all the thing I've missed across Tyria, jumping puzzles, mini-dungeons, hidden secrets, fractals for those who seek challenge. And you know what's the most epic thing of all, I randomly assisted to a world boss event, the battle of the jungle wurm, and to see that huge army of players, that the community is so strong that it actualy build up its own TeamSpeak servers and such to defeat a 3 sides massive encounter is just fantastic. So yeah I canceled my WoW subscription 2 days ago, I know I'll come back because WoD is about Draeneis' lore and I love this race to much to not at least complete the alliance questing line. And for those who say that GW2 was a flop or is a dead game ... you should reconsider.
Jassim Alateeq It's explained at the very begining of this review and it's been their main argument all along, of course not. You just pay your copy of the game and that's it.
I agree, i thouht i was getting bored, untill i left to play another mmo, and i literally played it for 5 minutes and said FUCK THIS and went back to gw2 a better person.
I actually have a similar kind of story. I stopped playing a year ago too due to work issues. Getting back online now and it's "still" fucking amazing! I actually had to go and read all the story and content they put in just to keep up with everything that has changed so much in the world. I actually created another character just to play again (after already having an 80) so I can get in the new details Arena put in in each maps. This game is a must-have or at least a must-try for anyone who enjoys MMO!
myles samonset yea, try it! I started with a f2p account and after two months I loved it so much, that I upgraded and it was super worth it! But just to try it, a f2p acc is the way to go :)
the only problem with Gw2: it is 4pm. You start the game. You explore a bit, do some quests, laught your ass off because of some NPC dialogue you overheard. You look at the clock. It is 4 am. Fuck. I have to go to work in 3 hours!
Still an amazing game, play it every night with my fiancee and my friends. The game is very well done. Great review! And this was before the two expansions even came out where the all the extra content enhanced it.
Thanks to this review i started playing GW 2. TY JOE! This game is like a shining light in a cloudy day full of stale grindy boring MMOs. It's f2p now so anyone can try it out for free, but it has a few nasty limitations for f2p players like not being able to chat in zone chat or limited whispers, only 2 character slots and a few others thet don't really impede your gameplay but feel annoying at times. these limitations are lifted if you buy the expansion and you get a ton of new content AND a glider that helps you travel a lot faster. The graphics are so beautiful that most of the time you feel like you are immersed in a classic painting. The gameplay is solid, combat is interesting and fresh with both tab/select targeting and action targeting, using skills on the run, changing weapons during combat and dodging enemy AOE attacks will make you feel like a bad-ass all the time. Quests are interesting and have multiple objectives that vary from combat to item interactions, random events pop up quite often compelling you to engage them naturally, but the best thing about the game is the exploration. I really felt good about exploring maps to 100% and i also got a nice reward out of it. The community in this game is absolutely fantastic. Random people that you meet in the world will actually stop and TALK to you, group events are spawned costantly and are a joy to participate in and guilds are very helpful and friendly. The only things i didnt like is there are no mounts (although the quick travel system is very good) and no player housing (if you are into that sort of thing). If you want a fresh and interesting MMO with minimal grinding, a ton of fun activities and a great community than jump in GW2 right now!
Servers have no meaning at all in pve. GW2 have a megaserver system which means that all players from one region are placed on the same maps. When one is full a new open and so on. If you want to play wvw then servers matters. Because each server meet two other servers for a week and fight all week. So the servers are based on wvw and nothing else. About talking i mean it is not like we are there to entertain players. If someone ask questions they will get answers IF it is asked politely. We don't have that many trolls as other games do so if you want answers try the nice way first and you will most likely get your answers =)
I am playing f2p now until I get the extra funds to buy HoT, and I gotta say it is a very fair f2p model, allowing me to fully appreciate this game before I buy.
Just started playing a week ago. I remember watching this review years ago, but I only had a shitty laptop that was incapable of running the game properly. Eventually I forgot about it, and when I got my current PC, I didn't think to get it. It was only recently that my flatmates started playing, that I remember this review and downloaded the game. Best decision I could have made. I've barely begun to play and already I find the game so damn good. Can't wait to level up to get on par with my mates and do some high level shit XD
I always come back to this review after I first saw it in 2013. It convinced me to get into pc gaming and guild wars 2. It holds a special place in my heart as well because if it weren't for Joe and this review I'd never had met the love of my life, my lovely girlfriend of 4 years on guild wars 2. Thanks for everything joe
Haha, all the fanboys in the comment sections who are way too arrogant and defensive on someone else's opinion. Even people saying "WAHHH, There is nothing after level 80." Well if I must explain, there is much stuff to do such as: Craft Legendaries Craft to Max Level in each Class World Completion Ascended Gear Fractals Dungeons RvR and Structured PvP Explorable Mode Play with Friends Achievements Dailies Monthly's The reason why I think everyone says there is nothing to do is because they feel over defensive over a new MMO that other people like. This game deserves this rating for many reasons. The simple fact that so many hate this game for extremely immature and stupid reasons, baffles me.
You just summed up exactly why I don't play the game anymore. The things you just listed are not fun at all. There is no end-game after 80. The games pretty bad, but I got my $60 worth out of it.
NextGenJ He listed the End Game. He even forgot the Living Story. If you say that they don't count because you don't want to do them, then you can stop. It's still end game, just because YOU (and other people Im sure) don't WANT to do this, doesn't mean it isn't there. Sorry that you don't have that super special thing YOU WANT, but don't complain that there is nothing to do when you don't want to do anything.
Over 8 years later and I still love this game. The amount of content you get for the money is just insane. And sometimes you still have to queue for world versus world, it's still that busy.
Nope. Guild Wars 2 has such a good community you won't believe your eyes. The more people around you the better. When you ask a question or need help you get multiple instant responses.
Walrus Spvp is certainly not a zergfest. Wvw is mainly absed around zerg combat and high number tactics. however, spvp has 5 men teams and very much based on personal skill.
***** i don't play wow so i don't know when they release expansion, but in Aion that i play they release expansion every ~1.5 year, and 2.5++ years(we don't know when it will be out) is too much for me
***** And its finally happened.... They FINALLY added guild halls. About damn time. I own a guild and am tired of not having a place for us to call home.
Yes. All issues he mentions are fixed now. If you buy it you get the expansion free, so you will get your money's worth. Try playing with friends or other people because it makes the game a lot more fun than soloing when you start out imo.
There is a free to play version you can start with. It has all the core features in the game. You can level fully but with lilited options in term of communication and selling/buying over trading post. I still play it and can highly praise it for the games fun combat and awesome classes :)
+RealMetalGaming Never played a MMO in my life, was always like SP games RPGs and stuff, playing games since 15 years. Then to GW2, playing it since 2,5 years now. Its amazing.
+RealMetalGaming I am FPS guy and MMORPG hater. Tried many of them and that only strenghten my hate towards MMORPG ...then GW2 came and I am playing over 2 years now and still enjoying it as hell :)
After 5k hours and playing since beta I have decided this is my all time favorite game (not just mmo) period. The value for your money is absolutely insane. If you haven't tried it yet you need to. My favorite part is the combat. After this long I am STILL learning new tactics and strategies. Its shallow on the surface.... but take a closer look and you will realize you are swimming in deep waters my friend. If you like fighting games you will feel at home here. Come fight me in WvW XD. We are expecting our second expansion announcement this year. I can not tell you how excited I am.
I never really got into Guild Wars myself, WoW bit into my wallet too much and when I heard ESO was pay to play at the same rate I didn't want that either, that's when a friend of mine showed me Guild Wars. I heard about it before but never really looked into it, but now I'm giving it a shot, just bought a copy and am probably going to spend 5 hours in character creation.
If you're looking to get into Guild Wars 2, the base game is now free to play, which is a lot of content for you to try out. There have been 2 expansions since 2012 when it came out. Buying the second expansion (Path of Fire) will also unlock the first expansion (Heart of Thorns) for $30 USD. The game is also coming to Steam as well in the near future. Give the free to play base game a try if you're interested and go from there.
Guild wars 2 endgame: Fractals: 15 dungeons with 50 difficulty levels. You need to do the lower levels to aquire the gear needed to go higher. Living story: Every 2 weeks (with some gaps) GW2 releases new content that furthers the main story and provides many hours of gameplay. Something that almost no other mmo does. WvW has a rank system with no limit to it, with rewards for every rank gained and points for passive trees that let you specialize in different roles. WvW is maps filled with people with the same lvl and aproximate gear as you, you can go alone and hunt people down in 1v1, 1v2 ext. fights or you can go with a group or zerg and take objectives fighting sometimes 80vs80 battles lasting more than 10 minutes. Structured PVP has a rank system as well and it has reward tracks. There is also an awesome achievement system with gives you actual useful rewards even small fortunes for having high achievement points, its also one of the ways that people in the game recognise your experience level. I havent even mentioned normal dungeons and guild missions. You dont have to do any type of grind in this game and you will be still as strong as anyone else. Grind is optional and rewards for that grind are only cosmetic in nature.
I was planning to get WoW but unfortunately, you need to pay 15$ per month ! like damn. I'm still a student and living with my parents (I'm from Philippines) so there's no way I can afford that. Then I watched this video, you flattered the game so much, now I will buy the game tomorrow and will upgrade my PC parts to run the game properly. Thank you so much for this review, The Guild Wars 2 World awaits me !
Jonas, you won't be sorry, trust me. It really mashes the feel of exploration and wonder of the single-player RPGs with the awesome feeling of working with people all around the world. I started 3 months ago, but I'm only level 33 on my main because the game doesn't rush you to the level cap: it encourages taking your time and actually enjoying the game. It also has a deep story, beautiful world design, very good graphics, and a good community. I've never come across an MMO quite like this, and I've played quite a few of them over the years. Feel free to add me if you want; I'd be happy to help you out if you need it. :) My main's name is Jaekob Caed.
The first decade of Guild Wars 2 celebration is here. What an amazing community. For those that haven't tried, the Steam release is also available now, and the third expansion has been released in 2022 too. Not only is the game even more refined and full of content, but welcoming to both new and returning players, with its horizontal progression and fair monetization model. The base game is totally free, so give it a shot, and bring a friend. See you in Tyria.
I need help guys! I usually don't play MMOs but Joe really got me with this review and I'm thinking of buying the game. Is it still good? (a stupid question maybe but I really need your opinions)
I have just started playing as a warrior (its Extremely fun since you can use the most types of weapons) and i have never had so much my fun in an MMO in a long time. Everything that Angry Joe has said is 200% true and is getting Better and better. Usually there's something that will annoy you about a MMO Game but truthfully i haven't experienced nor heard anything at all really disliked about GW and there are still a shit ton of people onlne
I would definitely purchase it again. I recently got three good friends of mine to buy it just in the past 6 months. They're constantly updating and improving game play. And it's definitely not a stupid question, not in the MMO world. I've watched many MMO's just kinda wither and die after a certain time because they run out of things to do. That is definitely not the case with GW2. I've had it for nearing 2 years now and I still love it. More so than I did when I started.
To everyone doubting: I have been playing since release, and I still log on daily. Not just to do the daily missions, but also just because I love playing it, even after a whole year has passed. Then to think I only spent 60€ one freaking time!
Every server has a Teamspeak 3 server, which is devided into smaller guild channels. For large scale events it is used to coordinate, control and manage certain actions. Not everyone has gotten into it, but it has helped out a lot so far!
@@lukebytes5366 The money you can earn at level 80 is much bigger than what you can get at lev... Wait... What the hell were you doing in Brisban Wildlands at level 2?
Guild Wars INVENTED the no-subscription MMO. Back in 2005, the original Guild Wars was, I think, the first big name MMO release to say "OK, so what if we just sold the players the game and let them play free forever?" This was BEFORE the rush of "F2P" MMOs. Guild Wars showed that you don't HAVE to pay subscription fees to get a great MMO experience. And now here we are, where there are (I believe) only TWO MMOs still around that charge subscription fees- WoW, because it's huge and millions of people will pay to play it regardless and it cannot fail and it doesn't _need_ to adapt to the market because it still _is_ the market, and EVE Online, which is... special.
+Democritus86 Yeah I know. But you still can't really call them "free to play" because if you DON'T earn your Plex (or whatever they call the WoW equivalent) every month then you either shell out or log out.
+ArcaneAzmadi Sorry to say but they would have charged a subscription if it was a good enough game to do so. However, it is absolutely fantastic enough to charge the one time fee .... it's only $20 right? ......
+Redbeardian Don't be ridiculous. That's an absurd assertion. They SPECIFICALLY stated an intent to make an MMO that could succeed without a monthly fee, and the idea that they would take what was at the time _an insane and radical risk_ (I think EVERY MMO charged a subscription fee back then) because they _didn't think the game was good enough_ is laughable. If they didn't think the game was good enough, releasing it without a subscription fee when they're still obligated to continue developing it, supporting it and maintaining the servers is literally the LAST thing they would have done!
This is the video that encouraged me to play gw2 in the first place, and so far i dont regret a second playing the game nor does my wallet, awesome game overall and ill continue playing for quite some time.
I was waiting that whole video for the 10/10 and badass seal. Awesome review for an awesome game Joe, you really covered a humongous amount of material.
I was curious about this game. My own friends couldn't sell me on it. Then again one of them turning into a pompous ass, that mocks my own game choices in front of me at any opportunity he gets, didn't help at all. Wonder if this will play on a Mac or is it just Windows? I can't remember. To the interwebs.
10 years later and this review is still relevant. I honestly feel bad for people that haven't given GW2 a try just because they thought other games would eventually come out like it. Nope... Thankfully GW2 is still alive and well, and because it's a horizontal progression game, there's no real catching up to players that have played for 10 years. You can just jump in and play at any time.
My biggest gripe with the game is the lack of mounts. I hope someday they include a collectable mount system because that would make pvp and exploration so much fun. But I agree with this score. Guild Wars 2 is the only MMO I'll play now and it sets a precedent for its competition. It makes WoW look like a chore.
Tanner Perry It is true that you don't need mounts for exploration, but simply having them to look like a awesome is fun too. There is also the fun in trying to collect them all. Though mounts are mostly unnecessary, I do believe they could still play an important role in WvW.
A cautionary tale for anyone who buys this game. Save the e-mail when you purchase it, write down the random account name they give you with it, and put that shit in a safe. Without both - you will never be able to do account restoration, ever. I've been trying to get my Guild Wars 2 account back for over a month now because my computer crashed, and since I have neither of these pieces of information, they simply refuse to acknowledge me as the owner of the account.
This comment comes from a person who has played GW2 for 5 years and has loved every bit. GW2 had its second expansion a few days ago and i've spent the past few days in a cave playing non-stop. Guild Wars 2 is one of the best games out there. Many people to play with, many ways and modes to play, and INSANE value for your money. GW2 does NOT try and trick you out of money.

I cant wait for it to hit steam. The games population is already enormous but being on steams gonna inject hundreds of thousands of new players. It doesnt need steam, but more players is always good

I've been playing GW2 since it's launch and still is my favourite MMORPG of all time... I cannot wait for the future of the game and a possible GW3 or new expansion. This game still kicks ass. It's worth everything and now that it's f2p it deserves to be played without a doubt.

I'd pay good money to see a 10 year anniversary edition updated review for this game since there's so much that changed and so much new content added

when i saw this review back in 2012 he made this game seem like it was gonna be so much fun filled with tons of epicness. well be prepared to hit max level in under a month, get full geared in under a month, and be bored again in under a month. speaking from personal experience actually playing
So, Guild wars 2 is basically everything good about RPGMMOS, cranked up to 11, then took some steroids and got cranked up to eleven again?
Sounds like an RPGMMO that suits me perfectly. (If i can run it)
yeah its great and its free to play now
gabriel gochev i actually installed guild wars 2 some time after i watched this review, and holy SHIT i want to keep playing it. i have just unlocked the personal story, but i haven't downloaded it yet (i clicked "play" when it was at "playable")
+punch3870 Good choice! I have eight characters (only two at level 80) and never get tired of it. Especially now with the stuff from the expansion.
Sawada Tsunayoshi i think if you havent bought it you can have 2 characters and that makes me mad
Spread the word, there's no reason anyone should still be grinding WoW
"It's not like a 5 man party IT'S A BIG ASS PARTY!" this just perfectly describes guild wars 2

Joshua Carubba I couldn't agree more lol
now it's free2play it deserves an 11/10
but with limited access. btw it is good for new player to try GW2.
Even with its limited access - the limitations are the least in any F2P model i have seen.
Its not really f2p. The f2p account is basically a very long trial version.
I would like to see him review this game again after all the changes.
@waslos man they're good. for starters it's actually free to play now. if you decide to purchase the game, you are purchasing the latest expansion which is mostly just 'end game' content.

This has got to be the most EPIC review of a game EVER. After all these years, whether I play GW2 or not I just come back to rewatch this video.
Same here
This game is still good, especially to play during the summer, and it's easy to get back into if you take a break from it since there's no subscriptions fees or anything, yet everyone who plays the game continuously does nothing but bitch about it. Seriously they'll find anything to complain about, even if they play daily.
B/c Anet has spoiled them too much and in gw2 we have way too many brats that are never satisfied lol.

An example of this from each weight class:
-- light armor Mesmer can evolve into a *Chronomancer* (reducing Skill cooldowns) or a *Mirage* (more deceptions).
-- *Wintersday* (aka generic Christmas without the "Christian" parts, and Santa Claus is replaced with a toy-gifting technomage asura named Toymaker Tixx)
-- *Halloween* (PRAISE -JOKO- MAD KING THORNE AND HIS BLOODY PRINCE!)
-- *Lunar New Year* (aka Chinese New Year, with a 5v5 PvP mode called "DragonBall")
-- *Festival of the Four Winds* (like an east Asian bazaar, but paired with a separate open world NPC gauntlet)
-- *Super Adventure Box* (directly inspired by and homage to 8- and 16-bit console video games from the 1980s and '90s, complete with low-resolution pixel-like enemies and weapons, and tons of iconic game easter eggs. Save the Princess Miya[moto] from the tyrannical Lord Vanquish by fighting through platformer-like Worlds!)
...are breaks in the monotony of regular content, and bring the player base together for their unique limited-time events.
Where's the Heart Of Thorns video, Joe?
Huh?
Where is it?
+shadowthehh2 Fallout...
Juliaoceania When did I ever say something bad about Heart Of Thorns? I'm just wondering where Joe's video about it is at...

Correct, there are many servers that are still really full so I was actually astounded to see that!

I'd like to see an updated opinion of yours on this Game Joe, now everything has improved - Also it would be AWESOME! if you did a Heart Of Thorns DLC Review :p
he doesn't do another review for a game he already did review
when heart of thorns first came out it was pretty shit imo...
By now it's okay but still needs improvement
Michael Allen PoF is much better.
GW2 is a great game (I have been playing since it came out) . The only problem is that it lacks endgame content. I hope that HoT will cover that.
the game is not that great as you say it is. aside there's no challenge in pve(world bosses die with the speed of light) etc, it took them 2 years to add new arena pvp mode, and 2 and half years to announce expansion. Aion is launching expansion every year
did they fix the bugs and glitches on the dungeons, like bosses don't use their skills when players are stacked together or is it still there?
TassadarGR your arguments are outdated you don't know what you are talking about dumbass.
TassadarGR lol Aion.
TassadarGR LOL "Aion" LMFAO
TassadarGR in a game that has a slogan "play the way you like" what do you think should be the endgame content? www, fractal, pvp, legendary weapon crafting are all end game content. Raids are on the way as we know, so what would you like more? boobs?
23:43 "WvW could use some mounts"
7 years later you got your wish Joe!
The Downfall of WvW.
“7 years later”
@@ICE-nr1ti Not really, some people I know got into WvW to unlock the Warclaw and ended up falling in love with the game mode.
I pretty much went through this game 100mph. I regret it and feel like making a new character, take all my choices slowly and thoughtfully and actually read/listen to every side-conversation and such. Take more time and enjoy the world.
i think it's just when you play many multiplayer games you get the feeling of people watching you and sh*t that's why you go fast. well, at least that's the case for me
What if there are people watching you?
The level scaling adds challenge.
anybody whatching this in 2017 cause they are playing guild wars 2 now?
yeah here, and its really funny cause i got into it again like a month ago, i let go off it because i used to play lol semi competetively and guild wars 2 is quite timeeating ^^ now i kinda regret the choice because due to the living world and the changes that came in the last couple of years, this game evolved even more.
Downloading right now aha
Lot's of people still play it. More than ever since PoF actually
glad to hear, maybe give it a second chance

Everything good mentioned in this video is still good in 2020.
Everything bad mentioned in this video got fixed years ago.
He also mentioned that $60 was well worth it. In 2020, it is $30 for the full game plus both expansions.

Well done! I did the same thing with my time in 2020. Crafted Twilight sometime in early summer, and got my skyscale as well. Been on a bit of a break since after the Halloween event. But I'll be back in full swing soon enough. I can never stay away for too long.

Yeah i feel like he should lose 15 lbs and go back to this look. Oh, and release reviews instead of promoting shitty f2p games.
HoT Deluxe on sale right now for $36 on amazon!
It's 2020 and I just started to play GW2 with my friends. I'm looking forward to buying the expansions.
Bought pof last month I've been having a super time
2021 and this mmo is so enjoyable and high populated
For me it's still now the best MMO ever made. It's dated extremely well
"High populated"?
@@thejanitor3337 cope
@@thejanitor3337 The servers have literally never crashed. Like ever, they have even touted their clean track record in their blog posts by saying that in the past 10 years, it's had 99.99% server uptime. I also want to add that the megaservers were not added to increase the people you see, its so that people can still play with each other if they are on different servers.
The other thing is that just because its a megaserver doesn't mean that there is only one instance of the map, there is always multiple instances of maps, sometimes 3-4 instances of maps that have reached capacity so the game keeps making new overflow servers.
@@RedNuii "The servers have never crashed, ever"
"Source: trust me bro"
You have got to be fucking kidding me with this fanboy shit.
Just bought it, too bad you didn't get it during the sale :(

Ps. i still play this game since beta to date!
Can I ask a simple question mate? I'd like to buy GW2 HoT and play it with my gf BUT she's afraid that we couldn't play together. (completing quests for the storyline and basicaly play together)
How it's done in-game?
thx for ur reply
People can participate in your story. It's an mmo, of course you can play together. Just need two machines that can run it too.
It's very much possible to play together if you have Hot and she does not. Ofc you wont be able to play the content that is in hot together.
GW2 is a great game to play as a couple....there's no factionalization so you won't even run into issues if she wants to play race A and you want to play race B. You'll be able to go to all of the same places together.
The thing Is
even If he IS angry.
He can't ,because this game Is so good ,you just can't be mad at IT :)
Do you need to puy monthly like wow
This game is a must-have or at least a must-try for anyone who enjoys MMO!
i can somewhat relate, i bought the game but got bored very fast because i was alone, i realy wanted to play through it :(

you know that its an mmo right? does that even work?
the only problem with Gw2: it is 4pm. You start the game. You explore a bit, do some quests, laught your ass off because of some NPC dialogue you overheard. You look at the clock. It is 4 am.
Fuck. I have to go to work in 3 hours!
I feel you man... i feel you....
Great Summary, although many, many great features unique to gw2 still not mentioned, but its nice to leave some surprises for ppl to find out :)
chose a good server then :)
most if not all people on my server don't talk or reply to me or my mates in the game
Pearl Jam rules!
It took AngryJoe less than half the review length to convince me to download it. GG, Joe.
I always come back to this review after I first saw it in 2013. It convinced me to get into pc gaming and guild wars 2. It holds a special place in my heart as well because if it weren't for Joe and this review I'd never had met the love of my life, my lovely girlfriend of 4 years on guild wars 2. Haha, all the fanboys in the comment sections who are way too arrogant and defensive on someone else's opinion. Even people saying "WAHHH, There is nothing after level 80." Well if I must explain, there is much stuff to do such as:
Craft Legendaries
Craft to Max Level in each Class
World Completion
Ascended Gear
Fractals
Dungeons
RvR and Structured PvP
Explorable Mode
Play with Friends
Achievements
Dailies

The reason why I think everyone says there is nothing to do is because they feel over defensive over a new MMO that other people like.

"Play with Friends" => not fun at all? what friends do you have?
Drcfan It's boring with friends? Read what I typed. The game isn't fun at all, smart ass.

Guild wars 2 endgame:
Fractals: 15 dungeons with 50 difficulty levels.
There is also an awesome achievement system with gives you actual useful rewards
even small fortunes for having high achievement points, its also one of the ways that people in the game recognise your experience level.
I havent even mentioned normal dungeons and guild missions.
You dont have to do any type of grind in this game and you will be still as strong as anyone else. Grind is optional and rewards for that grind are only cosmetic in nature.
such a happy/positive/great review of my favourite game since 4 years. :) fun to watch it again after a few years :´D
Lol Are u the guy with gemfx video?
yeah ;)
Omg love ur preset so much. Thanks alot m8
I recently bought GW2 during the sale few weeks ago, no regrets. Really loving the WvW. very HUGE and nice community
Yes. Do it. They really revamped a lot of stuf, the game now is way better than at launch.
It's cheaper than it was at launch, and the game has more content than it did at launch.
worst game ever
I would definitely purchase it again. I recently got three good friends of mine to buy it just in the past 6 months. They're constantly updating and improving game play. And it's definitely not a stupid question, not in the MMO world. I've watched many MMO's just kinda wither and die after a certain time because they run out of things to do. That is definitely not the case with GW2. I've had it for nearing 2 years now and I still love it. More so than I did when I started.
I fucking knew a Monty Python scene was imminent...
lol
same! hahahah
It's impossible to avoid Monty Python references when it's Guild Wars. GW1 was full of them.
Nixu88 wait really?
To everyone doubting: I have been playing since release, and I still log on daily. Not just to do the daily missions, but also just because I love playing it, even after a whole year has passed. Then to think I only spent 60€ one freaking time!
no monthly subscription? tell me it has voice chat and i'll buy it right away!
Every server has a Teamspeak 3 server, which is devided into smaller guild channels. For large scale events it is used to coordinate, control and manage certain actions. Not everyone has gotten into it, but it has helped out a lot so far!
so, in order to get voice chat you have to join a guild, and only on certain servers?
You do not have to join a guild, the teamspeak servers are open to everyone, and I'm sure every server has one or more teamspeak servers!
Man, you Europeans sure seem to get the short end of the stick with pricing. 1 Euro isn't even close to one US dollar.
2021. Still playing. Game is free to play now and all mentioned downsides have been fixed long ago.
Guild Wars 2 is better than World of Warcraft. #ENDOFSTORY
Still a 10/10 game in 2017. Forget all about paying €12 every month for chores and grinds.
Hyperdrive just made an account a few days ago and I LOVE IT. I can see myself playing this till its end.
Very happy to hear that! Get after it and have fun, my man
lvl 2: i'd like to go to brisban wildlands.
that'll be 4 copper sir.
lvl 80: thatl be 4 silver sir.
You: how tafuq did it increase so much?
asura: :/
@@lukebytes5366 The money you can earn at level 80 is much bigger than what you can get at lev... Wait... What the hell were you doing in Brisban Wildlands at level 2?
libarry? wow the game must have been so good it made him not be able to word right
+Forest Of Solitude ....You're actually wrong.
+Forest Of Solitude lmao it's cool it happens to all of us
and "flexable"
I still come back to rewatch this every year, just for fun. Such an enjoyable video review.
wow same :') I miss the old days
Me too lol 😂
And yet Bethesda decide to make ESO a subscription based game :(
Yea, but now it's buy to play, so it's fine now.
+Nick Fanchette its great
no thats changed long time ago
Bethesda didn't decide it to do that zenimax did
Sorry that I do not have a "cool" username like VideoGames4Days.
And now here we are, where there are (I believe) only TWO MMOs still around that charge subscription fees- WoW, because it's huge and millions of people will pay to play it regardless and it cannot fail and it doesn't _need_ to adapt to the market because it still _is_ the market, and EVE Online, which is... special.
+ArcaneAzmadi eve has montly extension items you can buy with in game currency to subscribe for "free" i think wow has that too now?
+Democritus86 Yeah I know. But you still can't really call them "free to play" because if you DON'T earn your Plex (or whatever they call the WoW equivalent) every month then you either shell out or log out.
+micah956 ...what about it...?
I just started playing it yesterday bc of him.
You wont regret it ^^
I am :D but I hate the jumping and no mounts
thereelz pro
What do you hate about the jumping?
I always fall lol
thereelz pro
lol, If you dont mind sending me your acc name (sample.1234) I dont mind being your guide if you need one sometimes ;D
Nearly 6 years later and still playing every day! The expansions have made even better over the years!
Hunter Brown yep when i saw that rating at the end of the video the first time, it sent shivers down my spine, coz it really deserved it.
Wow, this guy made me want to go out and buy Guild Wars 2 right this second.
...And I already own the game!
some games you just want to get twice (i got morrowind 5 times XD)
Asbel Launt
Wait, what?
I was curious about this game. My own friends couldn't sell me on it. Then again one of them turning into a pompous ass, that mocks my own game choices in front of me at any opportunity he gets, didn't help at all. Wonder if this will play on a Mac or is it just Windows? I can't remember. To the interwebs.
KazeAizen for Mac as well :)
2021: still playing.
All i do is run around filling hearts it gets boring sgits overrated
@@radecreations5993 thats not how you gw2. Youre supposed to explore the maps, engage in events etc.
@@radecreations5993 It's honestly your own fault if it's boring. There's so much more to do than just fill hearts dude...
Cantha CONFIRMED!!!!
because of this review I got the game and now I love it. thank you Angry Joe.
Lol, same here.
This review still stands on 2017
I played this in 2013 is there still a big player base today?
Yes. And with the addition of megaservers, there's definitely more than before.
thanks
I just started playing this year and it is pretty huge!
A massive player base still today. Like SirRabies said, it's even bigger than it was then
Question is, how many are using the free to play model, and how many have bought the expansion?
10 years later and this review is still relevant. I honestly feel bad for people that haven't given GW2 a try just because they thought other games would eventually come out like it. Nope... Thankfully GW2 is still alive and well, and because it's a horizontal progression game, there's no real catching up to players that have played for 10 years. You can just jump in and play at any time.
This is the best MMORPG of all time for one reason:
NO FUCKING SUBSCRIPTION FEES!
DrunkFrank Gamesquad Except GW2 has monthly, free, new content.
that´s not the only reason why GW2 is brilliant.
DrunkFrank Gamesquad Season 2 will be permanent content. All the funding they need is from game sales and the gem store.
Way points eliminate the real need for mounts. :/
Tanner Perry agree.. why use mount when there is WP
Tanner Perry It is true that you don't need mounts for exploration, but simply having them to look like a awesome is fun too. There is also the fun in trying to collect them all. Though mounts are mostly unnecessary, I do believe they could still play an important role in WvW.
Tanner Perry
I would love to get mounts in exchange for some waypoints
Mounts are in
A cautionary tale for anyone who buys this game.
My sister could restore hers just fine without!
