I’m so close to quitting my job
It’s been bothering me for a few weeks now. And I’ve been trying my best to occupy my mind and work through the hours but these hours are beginning to feel like days
I swear I’m 👌🏾 this close to quitting my job
And I’m starting to drink a lot more often than sometimes, I know it’s a bad habit
But it seems I only have a few hours between the time I get off and the time I go in
Its like I need to maximize this short interlude of freedom I have before I give another day away
But happiness shouldn’t be forced
And This is not what life should be
It’s like I relive the same day over and over
I have the same conversations with the same people, I do the same things for the same amount of time. The monotony is starting to get to me.
And the old heads at my job, they boast the time they’ve put in on their shoulders.
Five, six, seven years of their lives spent coming to this one place, I don’t know how they’ve done it. I nod and smile, I know if I tell them I couldn’t they’d tell me I’m lazy.
How my generation lacks worth ethic, how we want everything handed to us;
I don’t think we’re lazy
I think we see the world differently. We’ve come a long way since factories and assembly lines. We’ve been afforded something our mothers and fathers weren’t, a chance.
We see that there’s more to life than what’s directly in front of us, There are mountains to climb and memories to be made, that life is not something to endure but something to experience,
What’s the use buying a house if you can’t live in it?
What’s the point buying a car if you only drive it to work?
Why have a wife who doesn’t love you or a life you don’t love
I can see you’re barely comfortable
And you feel cheated
Because you were raised in a world that placed manual labor at its forefront
You weren’t allowed to consider how you felt
Mental health was a myth
And happiness was dismissed
i understand why its hard for you to understand that I prioritize my peace over this job
He tells me if I hate it so much then go to school
Get a better paying one
I tell him that’s the problem
My time is not something to be monetized
I’ll never get a better paying job because you can’t pay for something that is priceless
And our education system is flawed
We are producing workers to continue aged cycles when we need thinkers to innovate new ones
How can we create a better future when we’re only taught to do what has already been done
I refuse to settle for the life that’s been handed to me
Because You wouldn’t accept a cup of water knowing there’s an ocean available
I tell him I’m thinking about quitting
Because it’s been a long time since I’ve had a great time
It’s been a long day and I’m not sure manage another one
I tell him I’m leaving
ive decided take life by its handles
I’m going to create enough art to change my life and yours
I’m gonna to see places people dream about
my dreams will exist only to foreshadow my reality
I’ll venture within myself and to every corner of this planet
And everyday will be spent doing something that brings me purpose
Even if that something is doing nothing at all
You May call it lazy but we deserve lives that allow us to wake up everyday doing exactly what we want
I know there’s more to life than what’s been handed to me
I ask God to allow me the life I’ve been given perspective to appreciate
I know this isn’t it for me
So I go to seek my great perhaps

a fucking crazy coincidence. the thought of leaving my job has been in my head for weeks. the spark is no longer there and there are times that i feel guilty for feeling this way. i think of what will be said of me because i’m feeling like this. i’ve subconsciously convinced myself that they’ll think i’m lazy and only thinking about myself. but that’s the thing, sometimes you need to think of yourself and your well-being..

I actually quit my job 2 weeks ago today. I spent months considering it and finally pulled the trigger. I quit and now I'm living my best life, I'm staying up late and sleeping until late, I'm writing into journals and dancing to my favourite songs. I've started following my dream of making my own clothing and I love it more than anything. Of course I have no income coming in but I was fortunate enough to save every spare cent I had so I can afford to live work free for a while. I was so stressed and upset and I loathed waking up in the mornings but now, now I wake up feeling refreshed, feeling complete. I wake up the the sun pouring in through my window, I wake up to the cars passing by, thankful that I don't have to live that life anymore.
If anyone is considering leaving their job, do it. But only do it if you can afford it and know what you'll spend your time doing. Live your best life ❤️

It's funny how your videos always come in the right time. I quieted my shitty job that was killing me this last weekend. Got a new one where they pay and treat me better, so I can have money for the things I want to do in my life.

i have so many dreams. 🦋🌟 i’m most definitely creative and my mind seems limitless. i’ve grown up believing my dreams were too far out and i needed to settle for something realistic. i’m scared though. i want to spend my days getting closer to my dreams, but what if i don’t ever get there? i have goals, but when my goals aren’t met i feel hopeless. i just turned sixteen this month. a lot has happened. i want to start my future now. i see so many influencers/successful people my age doing what they love. i want to make it before it’s too late. i don’t want my dreams to feel like a rush though
I left my job and went to school to become an esthetician I graduate in march and I couldnt be any happier that I made this decision! I will become my own boss I plan on traveling the world and doing what I truly love. This video really hit home for me thank you so much for this !

Your words just flow with truth. I've been feeling this way about school actually. Not even college, I'm a junior in high school. I have gotten so many "your life is so easy, just do what you gotta do.", but I am honestly so unhappy with my life... So unsatisfied. I would never dropout, but I am trying to go to cyber. Its not a lazy thing... I just feel trapped in a set schedule that I never chose for myself, and that's not okay with me. I haven't been able to ever truly control something in my life, but this time is different. I can literally feel the spirit in me dwindle down as if one day I'll have no drive to excel in something or even feel alive. I'm always ordered to just do what I'm told and to follow the rules, but my life is lacking. I hope soon you can figure your life out, Miles. Would RUclips be something you would enjoy full time? I think more of you videos and you growing would touch a lot of people and could possibly start a whole new way people see our lives. Maybe everyone would stop surviving and start living for once. Update: Tomorrow is my first day of cyber. I asked my creative writing teacher if we can play this for the poem of the day, and she said yes. I hope someone in my class connects with this. I'm still looking for my great perhaps too.
Update: I graduated in 2020 and I’ve been working since. This time… I’m this close to quitting my job. We are so understaffed and when I help out I get screwed. No.

I loved this, because it was everything I thought when I decided to leave my job... I’m not going to work at a place where I feel unhappy or uncomfortable. I’m that type of person that just wants to live life and live life the way I want to and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. So I quit my job and now I have a bigger and better opportunity to put my skills to good use as well as earn the money I feel I rightly deserve. I’m working abroad for a year or more next month and I can’t wait!
