I love hearing about these fragrances from our past. They are still great. I used to wear Charlie all the time - not the Blue, the og - but about 10 years ago I suddenly became allergic to oakmoss and now I can't wear it which is sad. Another that I used to wear back then and loved, loved, loved was Jontue - which also has oakmoss, but it was a beauty. No. 5 reminds me of my mother - she used to wear it and also White Shoulders. I am not such a huge fan of No. 5 because it does come off quite soapy on my skin and I am not fond of soapy aldehydes, but I appreciate it, and have a bottle because it's a classic and also because of my mom :) I adore Opium and have it in all of it's concentrations. I especially love the edt version because of the enhanced nutmeg, it reminds me of Christmas :)
I really love your favorites collection and enjoy your videos, thanks so much for sharing!

Chanel No. 5 is one of my all time favourites! I have a new bottle of the edp, plus a vintage edt splash and a semi vintage refillable purse spray. Also a vintage mini edp . I’m obsessed with Chanel No. 5 😂 lol

Great recommendations, as I'm a Chanel No 5 lover, though as I've said before it took a while, so definitely agree with wearing a fragrance out and about more than once to get a proper feel for it. Also love vintage opium, so will look out for the others.

Wow, these all sound amazing. I am very into vintage fragrances right now, perfect timing! I worked with a woman waaay back in the 90's who wore 360 Perry Ellis...it was all the rage then, and so beautiful smelling!

Odd to be "suspicious" regarding folk not liking No5.
I own Chanel No5, and have kept it only because it was a gift from my late father-in-law. To me it smells like Imperial Leather bar soap and it does so right until it fades. I can tolerate smelling soap in the shower but I tire of the smell if it lingers all day and all evening. Plus the strong aldehydes can trigger a headache for me. I prefer sweet gourmands and I get zero gourmand notes in Chanel No5.
You must be able to pick up notes that I cannot. My skin pulls out all the soapiness of the aldehydes and no vanilla.
P.S. Your little cat ornament is adorable.

My suspicion comes with a little tongue in cheek. I hear so much trash talk on one of my favorite fragrances that I had to make a little joke. I find it interesting that one of the only fragrances that is still made in house seems unappealing to so many. At the same time, I understand that we all smell/ pick up on things differently. I appreciate your comment!

I love vintage perfumes, I also have opium, Charlie Blue, L'aimait, le bain.
    Opium is to die for.
Le Bain to me it smells a lot like alcohol cherry, I can't seem to get to that Tonka and vanilla, although I used up 2 bottles.

I love the powderyness (if that's a word) of Chanel no 5, but so many people don't like it. I've also had True Love for over 15 years and it still smells the exact same. Now Charlie Blue just didn't work for me. It turned dirty on my skin and clothes. I wonder if i just don't like oakmoss. Love your videos.

I like charlie blue but sometimes when i wear itvin the day and sweat it turns dirty on me as well. I think it's the aldehyde* that does that. Smells like BO or probably civet😂. I decanted a 1 ounce and gave my mom the rest

I'm a new subscriber and I really like how you describe scents and I like your taste in perfume. 💕
Have you tried Enigma by Alexandra de Markoff? I really like it, more than L'aimant actually. I think it might smell like Coriandre or (Café Café) and L'aimant had a baby. Anyway, curious to know what you think.
Oh, and I almost forgot (speaking of aldehydic/spicy/soapy gloriousness) Do you have Kobako by Parfums Bourjois? Unfortunately, it's my least favourite of this type of fragrance. But great quality cheapie in my opinion. 😊

My never-be-withouts all seem to be musks. Kiehls Original Musk, Jovan Musk, Red Musk oil, Vanilla Fields.i can wear them anywhere and all day or night, never tire of them, and ppl seem to love them. Theres tons of others i love, Opium is definitely one! But i can't wear them all everywhere every day. I remember when Joop and Poeme came out, they are so wonderful. What i cant stand is the sweet gourmands of today, no subtlety, no personality...just dump a load of sugar sweetness in and ppl will buy it! 🤢La Vie est Belle is a major offender!
The worst thing is all the gawdawful reformulations of old classics! Its like mutilating the Mona Lisa! 😢so many beautiful works of art, just destroyed by cheapness, greed, and ifra's silly regulations.

Hey, I am Swiss and some things are not familiar to me… what’s a tootsie pop?

    • @MyPerfumeMap
      @MyPerfumeMap  Месяц назад +2

It’s a lollipop with a tootsie roll center. I’m not sure if you are familiar with tootsie rolls because they are kind of an old American candy. They are a chewy, almost waxy, chocolate flavored candy. Probably pretty gross to anyone who didn’t grow up eating them, lol. Somehow delicious and nostalgic if you did.
