The C100 II is one of the best cameras pound per pound. Great image quality, lasts forever on a full battery, internal ND filters, shoots for hours on a 64g SD card… and because everybody wants the C7, you can get them used for 1k; crazy.
I have both and use the C70 all the time for most doc work, but the c100 is right there with me as B-cam or if I'm in a situation where I need to be a bit rougher with the camera (like if I'm gonna just put it right into the middle of something not knowing if I'll get bumped around). It's amazing and the image is so good.
Always put the best lens in the oldest body. Great comparison. I use my C100 a lot with the R5 and actually prefer the skin tones of the C100 and try to match the R5 to that.
Thank you! I mostly wanted the longer focal length on the c100 because I knew I wasn't going to crop in any further, whereas with the c70's 4K I could. I also really enjoy the C100 skin tone! I do still prefer the C70 but the c100 is no slouch on doc shoots.
Yes, the C70's colors are perfect, the R5 tends to lean too much towards red-magenta and the blues towards purple. In that sense, the C100, being much older, is much more accurate with colors.
