I have to be honest. I haven't even finished watching this video. First time seeing your channel on here probably because of the algorithms (im constantly looking as videos on Scotland) . I immediately said , well yelled at my computer lol, YES move to Scotland! lol I have NEVER been to Scotland or Europe at all. I have been watching videos and slowly planning to move to Scotland, God willing and my job..lol hopefully in a years time. by end of 2025. I fell in love with Scotland from afar. My heart is in Scotland while in USA. I've done EXTNSIVE DETAILED research on ALL Including the move process , visa process, work permit process every 6 months just to keep up with any changes. I say do it! the world is changing ..and I feel like MORE people are moving into Scotland of all places in the UK. Because of its beauty , cheaper cost of living, healthier foods peace ..PEACE!! LOL I wanted to retract my YES! to maybe hold of or no lol because I selfishly thought the lesser of people moving there will perhaps somehow have Scotland not make any of their move to their country restrictions MORE stricter! lol I cannot wait for the day that all of my thoughts and hopes and dreams to move , relocate there will finally come true. My journey is taking a bit longer to get there. But I feel in my heart it will. I don't even want to visit Scotland! why cause I wont leave! I just know it! lol so I need to make sure I do this right . Even if I ha to move to another country near it Ireland or England..My heart still aches and tuggs and says..NO it HAS to me It MUST be Scotland! Great video love the enthusiasm and personalities of you both. I haven't watched the entire video to see what your decision is , (still watching as I type lol lol ),but I wish you all the best! ❤from Chicago USA

Adding I love EVERYTHING about Scotland including its bipolar weather. I would prefer it to be ab it colder in the winters but I love the rain and wind. The only downfall I see is that many comes do not come with A/Cs lol The humidity may be an issue with me and the midges. So I will be moving where there are the least midges an for cool air it will be a fan and maybe if allowed (if im renting) a small AC (which is very rear I know 🙄) watched all of your video interesting check box list on rating the things that matters if you move there. Mines had 10 on all except the connectivity. yes I KNOW I havent been ther but! if it has sucky connectivity ..thats okay!..lol ☺

The beach at Morar was used as a location for the iconic film Local Hero...if you've not seen it , I highly recommend!
I went on a walking holiday round Scotland when I finished high school in 1982 and ended up staying at a youth hostel near this beautiful beach just after they'd finished filming the movie and there were some remnants of the film set still there!...my friend painted a watercolour of the view across to Rhum and Eigg ( the islands you can see from the beach ) for our wedding

Edinburgh would be an excellent choice. Less rain in winter than on west coast of Scotland and the weather is generally mild compared to Sweden I think. No extremes in weather in the distinct 4 seasons. Transport links are good around Edinburgh/Glasgow . People are very friendly and welcoming. My rating would be 80-85.

  • @jimreid4367
    @jimreid4367 Месяц назад +9

I think 2 points for the weather maybe a bit harsh . I think it really depends on where in Scotland you choose to settle down , i'm from Glasgow & we get a fair amount of rain but most of the time it's just a drizzle . 2 or 3 times a year we can get torrential downpours but they only last a day or two . At least once/twice a year we'll get gale force winds which is the backlash of tornado's from the Mexican gulf that the USA likes to send our way . The further north you go in Scotland there could more rain & winds than the rest of the country . But over in the east coast like Edinburgh they get more sunny days , not just Edinburgh but Berwickshire & Fife . I think if you stayed a year on the east coast your 2 points will maybe rise to 5 or 6 .

Scotland is full of micro climates. Yes, the west can be wet and mild, but the east coast (especially North Berwick and Dunbar) is famously dry, sunny and cool! Stunning coastline, amazing wildlife and beaches with views to die for. Edinburgh is about an hour by car and less by train.

I didn't visit Scotland, but when I was in England during the fall/autumn I was pleasantly surprised with the weather compared to how everyone usually describes it. I could see it being the similar in parts of Scotland.
Also, not to be that annoying guy, but I think you mean "backlash of hurricanes from the Mexican Gulf". Those same hurricanes can cause tornadoes in the US, but tornadoes are usually fairly localized (with that being a relative and loose term).

Thanks for visiting! Hope you return one day. It's nice to hear people enjoy the food in Scotland (and the UK). Always hearing from people who often have never even visited that the food is awful when it really isn't the case. The local food can be a limited limited (although great quality), what really sets the UK apart (in my eyes) is as you have said, the variety of vegan, gluten free etc options and the variety of international options. Anyways, as I said, thanks so much for visiting and I look forward to watching more of your videos!

Loch Ness 36 km ( 23 miles) long and at its deepest point is 230 m ( 755 ft ) deep.
Loch Ness has more freshwater than all the Lakes in England and Wales put together.
Scotland has more than 30,000 freshwater Lochs ranging from small Lochans to the likes of Loch Ness and Loch Lomond.

You have connectivity from Inverness down as KLM flies to schipol from Inverness, Aberdeen, Edinburgh, and Glasgow. For instance, I can fly from ABZ (Aberdeen) to Seoul South Korea in just 171/2hrs that with a just under 2hr stopover at Schipol. As Scotland is non schengen, you just go through to the gate or stop in the business class lounge. As for Amazon same day delivery, there's a massive warehouse just outside Edinburgh in Dunfermline. Internet connectivity is good in Edinburgh, especially virgin, as they're currently offering 2k. Also, a settled Europeans will be entitled to vote in Scottish elections.

As a kid, I remember driving along the north road of Loch Ness and I never took my eyes off the loch, not for a second, not sure I even blinked.
Travel is an issue as Heathrow is a way better hub. But Heathrow connections are terrible and I now overnight at the Sofitel (pretty expensive option). I average 100 flights a year so that’s a pain.

Love Edinburgh - Worked there for a while, but not fussed on the climate. Also worked in Stockholm and loved that city , but again winter weather is an issue and I am hopeless at Swedish. LA for 2 years turned me off the USA as a place to live (never again) . Eventually ended up in NZ with better climate, good food, super easy going folk and easy living. Only big disadvantage is connectivity.

Disagree 100%....the rainclouds, the misty mountain tops give Scotland a moody mystical which goes above and beyond ......you should learn to appreciate rain

Water is a very precious commodity and ours is so good straight from the tap (faucet) so all that rain benefits us ,the flora and fauna and of course a very famous Scottish product WHISKY * (without the E).Other countries call it Summer ,in parts of Scotland, Summer is 4 hours on a random Wednesday in July or August. but we like it that way.
Scotland has a fantastic music scene too which is often overlooked. Many Scottish trad musicians and singers on here at RUclips...RURA ,..PROJECT SMOK...JULIE FOWLIS....MANRAN....NITE WORKS...VALTOS...ROSS AINSLIE ...NATI DREDD...any of those names in the search box on here at RUclips will lead you to many ,many more Scottish voices ,songs and tunes.

@@goodemilyWe have a had very strange weather this past decade , mild winters and mild summers. It seems our seasons just flow into each other now with the odd day of “extremes” ie frost in winter and the occasional hot sunny day in the summer!
The white winters of my youth (the 1970s and 80s) and the brown parched fairways of those summers seem long gone.
Everything is now a vivid green here in Scotland.
