My wife and I are visiting Scotland in September of this year, and your charm, enthusiasm, and engaging manner make this video simply amazing! I subscribed within seconds of beginning of it. Kim, you are a wonderful ambassador for your lovely Country!
19 Children oh my god! but what do you expect with no TV! no laptop games to play and all the rest of it, that was a lovely journey Kim thank you so much for sharing it with us....
I once suggested to my wife that we add a prison access door to our bedroom. I was met with a resounding NO. Apparently I am not the Lord of my castle. Also no labeled "secret hiding place". But we do have a secret basement trap door at our cottage, so all is not lost! Thanks for another great explore, Kim!
Fab Castling wee lassie. Amazing to think how they could build such mega structures and the effort it would take to do so! It would be a mammoth task nowadays, even with all of today’s technology and heavy machinery. Atb, Dazza.
Good work, castles, fellers, ruins and the best part ,close to nature.would love to see some of your informative work only with nature.it was good.keep gping
Nice vlog Kim. Remind me of the other week when we had a catch up. Lunch at a stone circle then exploring that old building. Which in my opinion was one of the best I've seen in ages the way nature is reclaiming it is amazing .. But I had to laugh. You found that stone circle, we'll have to try again to find that one we were looking for... 😂 😂 Catch up soon xx
Lovely video. When you said that bit about 19 children, I thought about my neighbor when I lived in New York...they had 15 children and I could never remember the kids' names. It still is just mind boggling to me that people achieved these structures without any large equipment - just lots of man power. Amazing. Thanks again Kim.
Something about watching a vlog about a Scottish castle from someone with an awesome Scottish accent. Sorry but some of us Americans love that kinda stuff.
My ancestors were the Irvines of Drum.. They left Scotland and went to Ireland to Irvine Castle. You did such a wonderful job today, I would love to see what you could do with those two sites. In my ancestry, I believe it's the Irvines who go back to Mael Collum, or King Malcolm III. He was killed by his cousin MacBeth. While Shakespere's version is not correct historically, this where he got his material for his play MacBeth. So I would also love to see you do Holy Rood house and any thing else having to do with that history. I hope to do my own exploring some day but until then I have to make do with the internet. Thank you, Katherine
Loved this and the beauties they used to be...how wonderful you can go inside at your leisure and explore...beautifully maintained grounds...would like to do a castle tour of Scotland but I’m certain that would be quite lengthy! Thanks you for sharing these interesting locations...stay blessed.
Yes...there is hundreds of castles here! I don't think I've even been to a quarter of them yet but at least there us plenty of choice. I hope you manage to do a tour sometime - some areas have more than others so if you chose somewhere with many, you'll be able to pack more into your trip :)
Hi I just found your video I really appreciate it I am trying to study about my heritage. I found out that I have a many generations ago grandfather that was born there
19 Children, maybe they were thinking of starting the first "Child Benefits" Lol... Lovely video Kim as usual... Thanks for doing it... Very informative... xx
I didn't use a guide book for this - I received all information from visiting the locations themselves and reading the information boards. I was a historic Scotland member this year so found all the locations through them and tried to visit as many as possible. Hope this helps :)
Kim does two series of videos, the landscape photography series and the "Exploring Scotland" series. As to working for the tourism board, if they had any common sense, they’d hire her in a minute!
You can stay and just watch my photography videos and ignore the Scotland ones? My channel has been half photography half Scottish travel for over a year now
HI..just thought i'd let you know that I find your vlogs very refreshing a couple of questions though, do yo shoot raw or jpeg, and when editing your vlogs what software do you use, keep up the good work you have inspired me to visit Scotland
You see so many Scottish castles with walls intact and then you come across one that housed 19 children at once and suddenly it's all too clear why the walls are gone
It would have been in the olden days. I have no idea how people would have gotten into it though as there was no stair access etc. I guess that's one reason it was a secret though haha

I love videos of my home town. When used to tour these castles we used to intersperse castle s with whiskey tastings.

The cellar: "it's very dark", while wearing sunglasses :-)
Sorry, couldn't resist!

Ancestry DNA says 68% of me is originally from that bit of Scotland. Looks nice, thanks for sharing.

Glad you enjoyed the video and wishing you all the best on learning about your heritage.
wow dear god , look at the size of that fire place , did that get them through the little ice age . I cant remember when that was !
Do you know any history of the Burness family from around the 1500-1700
Thanks for the tour Kim the Scotish tourism board should take you on seriously.
Thank you Clive - who knows what the future holds! :)
Many of my ancestors are from Aberdeenshire.

19 Children, maybe they were thinking of starting the first "Child Benefits" Lol... Lovely video Kim as usual... Thanks for doing it... Very informative... xx
19? Slackers! Johann Sebastian Bach had 20 (although he went through two wives in the process). 😂
@@ravenfallsphotography6254 Ha ha, nice one Kim... I liked seeing this reply first thing this morning, gave me a good start to the day...

Interesting idea - thank you :)
Have you been to any of the Castles of Mar?
Hello, can you please tell me what guide book you are using in this video?
I didn't use a guide book for this - I received all information from visiting the locations themselves and reading the information boards. I was a historic Scotland member this year so found all the locations through them and tried to visit as many as possible. Hope this helps :)
i enjoy your video s but what happened to photography? are you working for scotland tourist board?

It's pronounced Tu hone castle ...Tulquhon
if there's a big sign that says 'secret hiding place' is it still secret? lol
My thought exactly…no wonder the castle isn’t still standing! (And, yes, I know it’s a modern sign.)
It would have been in the olden days. I have no idea how people would have gotten into it though as there was no stair access etc. I guess that's one reason it was a secret though haha
