yeahI would much rather be able to change tracks on the buds, then change volume. I have BT headset on my current phone and tend to adjust the volume with the phone buttons in my pocket anyway.
but then they'd have to install the touch sensor on both earbuds and that would increase the price! Instead just programming a different gesture would be much better solution.
The swipe gestures on them should be UP and DOWN for volume, forward and back for tracks and keep the tap for play and pause. My opinion, makes sense to me to do it that way.
they look cool and modern. airpods, including its case, looks dental. anyway... i prefer the "neck wire". It keeps them together. no one needs more hassle finding a missing ear bud.
Honestly they are cheap for the translation feature. The closest earbuds that can translate are a company from indiegogo that haven’t shipped yet and we’re 300!
Google isn't a start-up/disruptive company anymore. They now have a strong hold on the market they want to be in, and now slowly spreading to new territory. They are playing the safe game right now.
Not really, phones have been able to translate like this for a while, the only difference is you're wearing earbuds and getting audio directly to your ear and not through your phone
The point is this is in ear, and doesn't need you to fiddle around, click some buttons, turn on the microphone, have it play back, etc. With this, you just tap and listen as it tells you in real time and you can talk back. It's similar technology, but utilized in a way that makes it more advanced.
Im basically just joking. This is the same product like the Apple AirPods, they just use the Google Assistant instead of Siri. But not being able to skip a song without talking is a fail.
Maybe with a software update they can change it so that swiping up and down changes the volume and swiping left and right changes the track...But if the Google assistant gesture is as fast as they say it is then maybe we can use that and say "next track" or something similar.
How many people are you communicating with on a regular basis that don't speak your language? For me it happens about once a year. It's just a gimmick and isn't worth the price tag. They just had to show that it could do SOMETHING that AirPods don't do.
You mean to tell me they couldn't have made a more logical gesture like swipe up for volume up instead of forward, which could have been the skip to next track gesture, and then make a swipe down gesture for volume down and the swipe back for skipping back a track? Or is the surface area on the buds themselves too small to recognize both?
You can already do that without the buds, and have been able to for some time. Try the Google Translate app. You don't even have to press anything as the app detects the language spoken and transfers it inot the other language. I tried it with my Polish wife's parents last time we were in Poland about a year ago.
I bought a pair of QY8 BT headphones a year ago, sound fantastic, comfortable and still going strong... paid $20 for them. Why would I buy these for $159? Just trying to get a justification... I don't see any reason except for having panache.
Audiophiles? It's like paying for food at fast food than paying for food at a fancier restaurant and being like "well I don't taste the difference!" Sure, I respect your opinion, but some people can tell the difference and care.
I liked that you guys had info out so quickly after the event happened. But this reporter is just like that little red head kid that did an interview after riding a rollercoaster, and used apparently every other word lol. This dude reminds me of that kid with his use of the word pragmatic lol.
Speech translators already exist there are multiple apps in the app store lol... all this translator does it record you in real time and when the person stops talking it translates it on google translator and u hear it back
That translation is only the beginning, imagine paring it up with someone else’s ai , say you’re touring out the country and you can communicate with others thru the ai back and forth.
These buds are more than good, it has functionality and does better than many other more expensive options. Give these a chance they actually look stylish and cool.
The funny thing is that the pixel buds don't translate anything, it's the phone that does is. The app that is used is Google Translate and is widely available for almost any platform. It looks like the only integration is that you can tap on the pixel buds, but we will find out in the reviews. The demo looks more impressive then it actually is if you ask me. btw the Bragi Dash Pro claims the same thing www.bragi.com/thedashpro/ So if you want an alternative you can look there and scroll to the bottom. it "integrates" with itranslate.
I thought the translation feel like a live feed of what they're saying directly into your ear that would be kind of cool but it seems like something that would be further into the future maybe like 5 to 10 years 👍
Do I need to give you a list of features that apple copied from android phones?? The last original thing apple did was fingerprint scanner and that's it
Juoana Penny Dela Cruz please use your brain for once. Most wireless headphones/earbuds or whatever last only a few hours. That's why they have a little box to charge. How do you expect a big battery in a device this small? maybe in 2030. certainly not realistic for 2017.... please think before you expect.
I wish they had an app that had the same kind of translation feature that the ear buds have, that way everyone could take advantage of that translation feature. I also wish they made a headphone version of this kind of like the Sony mdr X 1000 or at least a LG shoulder configuration. I also wish it was at least magnetic to clamp on around your neck better so I heard they want just fall off
azez1992 I have a feeling its more marketing than hype. Google and Amazon trying to sell it like its a real necessity - something you can’t live without. Honestly, I don’t find it useful - no more than Siri. We’ve had Amazon Echo in the office for a couple of months. After two weeks no one cared.
I use Google Assistant to place calls (mostly while driving or at home, not at work), ask for directions and information on stuff, make reminders, set up alarms and play music. So yeah, I guess people use them.
I use Siri to book me an Uber ride while I’m getting ready. Asking Siri what’s the weather gonna be like for another hour or so while I’m tying my shoelaces. I used Siri a lot in these past few months.
People think apple invented bluetooth earphones. We can say a lot of things about apple but they are crazy good at marketing and manipulating (some) people.
h4h4 productions more money doesn't mean more battery honey. Please smarten up finally. How much juice do you really expect on those tiny earbuds? just look at Gear IconX from Samsung... i think their play time is 1.5 per charge and it was like $299 when it was came out?
Swiping up and down should be the volume. Left and right should be changing tracks. But I have to admit that this is an astounding piece of technology. Congrats, Google.
Mark Robert Rowlands Apple copied Samsung phones and are claiming as if they are the first to introduce large displays and wireless charging. Apple sucks, accept it.
People have no idea the beast Google is , and they are gonna do with what they do best software using there ai Google is the first to use a real Artificial intelligence look up Google deep mind learning AI and get ready for skynet lol Also Google is now working with Intel that's what gave apple there smooth performance on phones Google is now doing it as well ,they are starting with the pixel visual core ,the pixel 2 is about to be the first phone with 2 x8 core CPU meaning 16cores also they are building that. Deep ecosystem apple has had for years using the Google assistant to power all your devices anywhere u are at , starting with broadcast on Google home which I love so much ..this is Google second phone it took apple 10years to get to where they are at Google did it in 2 , and they might not have the best hardware but now with the purchase of HTC design team pixel 3 I bet is gonna be a beautiful hardware machine with Google's super smooth UI , things are gonna get serious Google and Intel together is bad news for apple very bad news and Samsung and everyone else ....apple needs a rabbit out the hat trick real soon or things are gonna start to change n fast ...
Ihosvany Rodriguez I have no doubt that Google will continue to be a very powerful player in the field. They are everything and everywhere. Starting from search engine... youtube.... now Ai on its devices the company is limitless. However, I will have to say Apple is VERY good at their marketing and design. Something that google is not doing it. The first pixel looks exactly like an iphone without the home button. The pixel 2 ... i don't know i don't feel like spending that much money on a device that does not make me "feel" it's worth that much... They have a long way to go with the Luxury market. putting this great software in plastic case just isn't enough.
Google needs to stop doing everything apple is doing and do their own thing that makes them good at what they do(aka make android phones cheap, compatible and make their Android OS CUSTOMIZABLE AGAIN)
How are they copying again? Pixel's camera has been better for 2 gen (including this gen). the assistant is better too along. the design has no similarity and it provides a solid 2- speaker setup. Moreover, their android OS was and will always be way more customizable than ios. are u blind or what? -_-
How is this guy allowed to do overviews like this when he misses simple information like the headphones being blue not grey..or when he said the pixel XL 2 only comes in the black and white. He also comes off as bored with the whole event, we get it, you like Apple more.
he clearly says the Pixel and the buds are pragmatic....isn't that a good thing? didn't he say some bad things about apple the other time...let me see...on iphone 8? you close minded sheep, oh deer :D
I hope these buds manage basic sound isolation like most earbuds. If sound leaks out/in then its a deal breaker for most people. I have hundreds of tracks in each playlist based on genre. Not sure about you guys but I change tracks a lot and only listen to every 3rd or 4th track shuffle throws at me. I hope Google can add this feature soon otherwise I don't see myself tapping the earbud and then saying "next" every time I want to skip a track, especially while exercising when one can't really speak and break their breathing rhythm. Also, a practical gesture for prev/next track can be - double tap on right bud for next track and double tap on left bud for previous. A better gesture for volume would have been - touch and hold left bud for volume down, right bud for volume up without any acceleration is volume increment. Hope Google takes a hint. Like he mentioned, the translate feature only practically helps when its a monologue. In active conversation you need to understand what the other person said and then reply back in their language.. unless they are also wearing these earbuds : ) I would wait till Jan-Feb year for more reviews to decide on the purchase. Same goes for the Pixel 2 XL - we all know we're getting the bigger one : )
I returned my Pixel buds. Severe connection issues with my Pixel 2 XL. When disconnected and stored properly in the case they would randomly connect with the phone. After receiving my buds I started having numerous "dropped" calls. I discovered that the calls were not dropped but were suddenly routed through the Pixel buds even though they were in the case. Google support guided me through a factory reset which consisted of pressing the button inside the Pixel buds case for 40 seconds and reconnecting with the phone. Problem continued. I sent them back for a refund and replaced them with Bose Soundsport wireless. Much better sound on both ends, no connection issues so far, extremely comfortable and MUCH more secure in the ears.
Htc is very innovative. First phone with dual front stereo speakers. All companies followed and copied. First company with dual cameras. All companies followed. Htc did these things 3 and 4 years ago. Htc is very innovative. They just didn't have the monetary gains to use the best camera though there 4 megapixel ultra pixel is copied in every phone now. So innovative they are. First phone we can squeeze and use as a command. To say they are not innovative is simply not true. And contrary to popular belief HTC not apple made the first metal unibody phone. Apple even copied their antenna's. March 2013 HTC released the one m7. First metal phone with Dual speakers. The next year they released the first dual camera phone that has a portrait mode. Htc literally is copied by every phone maker this present day. Google bought the HTC phone division because they are great at what they have done to the smart phone industry. They could have bought any phone company but they chose HTC. A very innovative company.
cobblegilll yes they have done some pretty cool stuffs in the past 4/5 years ago. But what they have done in recent 1/2 years ?? Nothing. Just look at the pixel 2 made by htc and pixel 2 xl made by lg.
al pacino what's the difference between the two besides the sizes of their screens? If you'd look into their specs they're virtually identical except for the size of the screen
I can't see how these will resolve the issue of background noise when you're speaking. Even talking directly into your phone mic can be horrendous if you're on a busy street.
Honestly, the Air Pods look super awkward and these actually manage to look pretty dope. Plus, even if they fall out of your ear, which we all know that they will, they'll stay on your neck.
Sreekar Pradyumna by no means am I an Apple fanboy (I spent most of my life with Android) but my airpods have never once fallen out of my ear. Of course, I've always preferred the earpods to any other earphone just due to the fit but the airpods are a fantastic product and at a shockingly competitive price
People hated on Apple when they removed the iphone jack, what happen now with google when they did it? People hated on apple when they make a 150 USD bluetooth headphone, what happen with google when they did a 200 one? you guys every time say APPLE FANBOY come on, you may like a product it does't make you a fanboy.
Joshua Dapitan For $150 these are nothing close to AirPods, which are $10 dollars more. They should look nice because that’s what most people would want naturally not to be looking flimsy. These type of earphones are closer to the wearables category(accessory) type.
^I don't care for any wearable category or not. They are for listening. Heck. even people pay higher than your baseline $150 for Stax L300, which looks retro af that you won't even think of buying. They are not for Hi-Fi, and of course they are designed not to just "Ah I have music in my ears even if it is not true to the recording". They are for their AI. And they are not to compete with AirPods anyways. Plus of course some "Fashion" would be sacrificed for some ergonomics like for swipe controls on the side of the pixel buds, if you don't like that feature then just to let you know you paid for that as well(if you plan to buy that one)
Assistant earbuds will never be a thing. Talking in public to earphones is both stupid and looks bizarre. You only get then for the “wireless earphones” vibe.
I don’t get it . What’s the difference between using these earbuds and a regular set of wireless earbuds with a mic. Isn’t all the processing done on the phone anyways .
It's so funny that you consistently praise every other non Apple product. I wish you were like the old Verge where you used to treat products fairly and unbiasedly...The truth is these and the other Google products released today all look cheap and unfinished.
These are uglier than Apple's airpods hell, uglier than any pods I've ever seen. In order for me to purchase these, would have to be absolutely stellar in sound quality.
I don’t like the wires at all. If I want to share an earphone with any of my friends we are tethered together. The case also looks more cumbersome than the AirPods
TheBkdot I prefer the airpods also. These aren’t “wireless”. They should be in a different category. The case on the air pods are also better than this by the looks of it. These probably aren’t bad at all, but personally prefer air pods
I think I like them. I hope they work well with iOS and I hope they can be shipped to South Africa without feeling like I'm being charged for a pair of AirPods because they're ridiculously expensive here.
Shameless copy of AirPods, the shape of the pod is the same. Judging by the look of the I’d be willing to bet that their are no wires inside the cable honestly.
Dylan White Please don't let me say you are an idiot because you just put yourself in the worst of the worst category. the airpods are LONG. these pods are ROUND. it's like banana VS Orange they are not the same shape nor colour nor size nor materials nor functions. Please delete your post for the sake of humanity.
Are these going to work seamlessly with the original Pixel devices? I don't think Google touched on that, and I would love to know since I am very interested in these, and am not sure if I want to upgrade from my original Pixel XL.
translation feature is nice though, this could be the future of how we talk to people when we dont know the language. the day it translates instantly and with the same voice as the someone im talking to, that day i will get this
Using one earbud for volume control and the other for changing tracks would have been nice.
lets hope it's like the Google Home where it's like, "oh we had bluetooth in it all along we should prob update it rite so u can use it. her u go"
This bish should have told google to do that.
yeahI would much rather be able to change tracks on the buds, then change volume. I have BT headset on my current phone and tend to adjust the volume with the phone buttons in my pocket anyway.
but then they'd have to install the touch sensor on both earbuds and that would increase the price! Instead just programming a different gesture would be much better solution.
DigitalBrain It wouldn't raise the price because of competition. They want these to be a better alternative to Apple's airpods for the same price
The swipe gestures on them should be UP and DOWN for volume, forward and back for tracks and keep the tap for play and pause. My opinion, makes sense to me to do it that way.
AI AI everywhere. Normal things + AI = Put a High price tag. 😂😂
VERSATILE KNOWLEDGE I speak Google language. Machine learning. Machine learning. Machine learning!!!! Machine learning?
the AI does NOT increase price by like 100 bucks.
better than a mediocre wireless earbuds with a logo=high price
More like anything with an Apple logo = High price. Man, I might as well draw an apple logo on my left big toenail and sell it for 500
U don't even know
they look cool and modern. airpods, including its case, looks dental. anyway... i prefer the "neck wire". It keeps them together. no one needs more hassle finding a missing ear bud.
n o o k c ƕ i l l i n g t o n true
True😌😏😌😏
What's with Google and overpricing everything all of a sudden like Apple?
Google is more similar to Apple than you would think.
All there hardware should be sold at a loss until they actually make decent sales
Trying to attract Apple fans!
I see use for these in the medical field when quick translation between patient and doctor is needed
Damn that's something straight outta star trek.
I love how they use textile on their tech. Would love to see a case that has fabric surface.
Put AI on everything and it the big new thing... Welcome to 2017
2018*
The years about to end sooooo
You're seriously complaining about innovation?
this sounds dumb.
That translation is amazing. It will be very helpful 👍🏻
Parag Kakati would it work with other android phones? ( the translation feautre)
Abdullah Durrani I don’t bro. I don’t think it will work. But the feature is really great for people who travels around the world.
How many people are you communicating with on a regular basis that don't speak your language? For me it happens about once a year. It's just a gimmick and isn't worth the price tag. They just had to show that it could do SOMETHING that AirPods don't do.
Arun Mangrulkar your point is also right. But there are some businessmen who used to go different countries for work. Maybe it will help those people.
Let’s keep in mind that we seen them demoed not put to a real world use... the tech is probably hit or miss to start
Crazy how this came out 5yrs later imagine what else they have
Do the ear buds pair to hearing aids?
I know AirPods can be used as hearing aids...
Let's defend Google for that price tag, cos it's Google.
I like the price of the regular Pixel 2, btu I feel like the Pixel 2 XL is about 50 dollars too expensive.
Its not apple, no need to defend
Yummy Hershey please spend the extra money and get the XL. the regular Pixel 2 is like an iphone 6.
Yummy Hershey yeah they should've made it $800 and not included an Echo Dot with every purchase... er, I mean a "Google Home Mini" 😏😏😏
too late, google has long turrned to the dark side.
You can already do that without the buds, and have been able to for some time. Try the Google Translate app. You don't even have to press anything as the app detects the language spoken and transfers it inot the other language. I tried it with my Polish wife's parents last time we were in Poland about a year ago.

sbkpilot11 Can't agree more
Audiophiles? It's like paying for food at fast food than paying for food at a fancier restaurant and being like "well I don't taste the difference!" Sure, I respect your opinion, but some people can tell the difference and care.
John Doe however Google is not trying to market to audiophiles.
John Doe The worst is that the restaurants taste worst than fast food!
I don't mind the tether at all considering all these wireless earbuds always fall out of my ears regardless of the size ._.
I liked that you guys had info out so quickly after the event happened. But this reporter is just like that little red head kid that did an interview after riding a rollercoaster, and used apparently every other word lol. This dude reminds me of that kid with his use of the word pragmatic lol.
Even if it's not "perfect" yet, the live translation really grabbed my attention.
Pixel *Butts*
m p omg 😂
HEHEHE
Pranav Varma Wow that's hilarious are you too in first grade?
Pranav Varma I am proud that I was your 400th like.
greendexie Thanks :p
Speech translators already exist there are multiple apps in the app store lol... all this translator does it record you in real time and when the person stops talking it translates it on google translator and u hear it back

D. Jizzal same
I thought the translation feel like a live feed of what they're saying directly into your ear that would be kind of cool but it seems like something that would be further into the future maybe like 5 to 10 years 👍
Google is a fan of Apple. They’ve removed the headphone jack and now this.
Kanav Kapoor I know, can’t wait for the next pixel to have wireless charging tho 😂
Kanav Kapoor Apple is pretty good though. Pixel phone is a lot cheaper than the x, but the ten is waaaaaay bette
Do I need to give you a list of features that apple copied from android phones?? The last original thing apple did was fingerprint scanner and that's it
And they roast apple
YOU SAID IPHONE "EKS"
that translating sounds so futuristic and sci-fi i love it
5 hours? Earphones are plugged into my ears more than that. Ugh, exactly why did they have to remove the headphone jack!
They should have used the swipe feature to go back a track or go to the next track.
No way this is a real thing ...
Christopher Nanister I
Still rocking these in 2020, just ordered the new pixel buds 2
Should have been called 'Air Buds'
Alexander Reddicks Al Buds
Should have been called edge lord
they could've called it the babel fish alone for the translation utils smh..
Air buds was a good movie, my while childhood
Alexander Reddicks should of called it Grandma's hearing aid
I wish they had an app that had the same kind of translation feature that the ear buds have, that way everyone could take advantage of that translation feature.
I also wish they made a headphone version of this kind of like the Sony mdr X 1000 or at least a LG shoulder configuration. I also wish it was at least magnetic to clamp on around your neck better so I heard they want just fall off
Dude, that's literally just Google Translate integration. You can achieve the same thing already, the buds only make it more convenient.
Does anyone uses those "voice assistants" ? I feel like they are a bit overrated
azez1992 I have a feeling its more marketing than hype.
Only when driving. Otherwise Nope. Will never touch that!
It's great when you're on the move and have to send a text message or set an alarm without looking through your phone.
I use Siri to book me an Uber ride while I’m getting ready. Asking Siri what’s the weather gonna be like for another hour or so while I’m tying my shoelaces. I used Siri a lot in these past few months.
I like the wire like that better. More efficient 9(ie. dropping) and looks cooler imo
MEH. Only 5hrs???? Forget about it.
Teejaye1100 that's a lot for their size
Teejaye1100 When will you ever listen to them for that long in one sitting? As soon as you put them in the case they start charging and provide 24hrs
that's really good
More then enough time to watch w.e you wanna watch or listen to w.e you wanna listen to
The case charges them 4 times tho
Alright, what watch are you wearing?
Google: Hey Apple can I copy your homework?
Apple: Yah just change a couple things..
Google: pixel buds
Lol, true
People think apple invented bluetooth earphones.
We can say a lot of things about apple but they are crazy good at marketing and manipulating (some) people.
Chris Cicala really, can the apple airpods translate on real time
Chris Cicala wow..and the ignorant Apple fanboy comment of the day winner is.....
amith ajay Siri can, so... yeah
Why the background music so loud? @The Verge: can you reduce the volume next time.
Wtf? Only 5 hours of battery life? Great attempt at the headphone game, but for 150 dollars i would want 8 hrs.
h4h4 productions or 24 hours
My beats x get 8 hours and I bought them from tmobile for 129
Lavar Ball These get an extra 24 just from putting them back in their case. The battery life is actually amazing.
Power Beats 3 get 12 hours consistent, I paid $150
h4h4 productions more money doesn't mean more battery honey. Please smarten up finally. How much juice do you really expect on those tiny earbuds? just look at Gear IconX from Samsung... i think their play time is 1.5 per charge and it was like $299 when it was came out?
Again, a really exceptional video. You guys killed the Google event.
Well, if they aren't waterproof I don't want them.
I mean, I destroyed my AirPods in a washing machine, I know what I'm talking about.
well airpods are not dumbproof... are they?
It's hard to make things waterproof but it's easier to make them water resistant.
Well they will be harder to put in the wash, since they have a wire.
I doubt there will EVER be headphones made that can survive a washing machine lol
Shaurya Shubham Yeah, forgot them in my pockets. The Airpods still work, however the charging case doesnt.
Swiping up and down should be the volume. Left and right should be changing tracks. But I have to admit that this is an astounding piece of technology. Congrats, Google.
Apple, apple, apple, apple, oh yea, google, apple, apple
Mark Robert Rowlands Sure.
Mark Robert Rowlands Apple copied Samsung phones and are claiming as if they are the first to introduce large displays and wireless charging. Apple sucks, accept it.
Paxmanjp stop crying...
Google is amazing
I was referring to how many times he said apple.
If it's just a fabric cord, couldn't you just cut them at the bottom and leave the top loop to help keep it secure?
2017 is one of the best year in the smartphone tech and I'm loving it
I am sure 2018 will be better.
Patrick L I'm sure 4000 will be better
SlothPaints NO 4000 we all dead.. THINK before you talk
Even though there expensive the translation part is really sick
google gonna be the next leader of the smartphone segment.
you kidding right?
Patrick L haha.. lol..
People have no idea the beast Google is , and they are gonna do with what they do best software using there ai Google is the first to use a real Artificial intelligence look up Google deep mind learning AI and get ready for skynet lol

What I saw in 'Her' is what I am going to see quite sooner than I expected
I love my AirPods but I have to admit these are pretty cool
Miguel Cisneros No bro! Nobody can love airpods. Even steve jobs died before seeing them!
The Air Pods are better
Miguel Cisneros if you love AirPods you certainly would NOT like these.
Literally just seeing your thumbnail helped me wear my earphones properly! thanks a lot!!
Google needs to stop doing everything apple is doing and do their own thing that makes them good at what they do(aka make android phones cheap, compatible and make their Android OS CUSTOMIZABLE AGAIN)
TheLifeStalker There are cheap android phones, a lot of them, so that complaint is pretty unnecessary.
they do copying well.. give them credit.. look at android, the best copy of iOS
How are they copying again? Pixel's camera has been better for 2 gen (including this gen). the assistant is better too along. the design has no similarity and it provides a solid 2- speaker setup. Moreover, their android OS was and will always be way more customizable than ios. are u blind or what? -_-
TheLifeStalker Android is still very customizable
I don’t understand why you’d say make Android customizable again?
They look very interesting! Looking forward to the full review
How is this guy allowed to do overviews like this when he misses simple information like the headphones being blue not grey..or when he said the pixel XL 2 only comes in the black and white. He also comes off as bored with the whole event, we get it, you like Apple more.
And he refers to the cable as "cloth" instead of braided and doesn't compare them to the very similar bose soundsport wireless.
he clearly says the Pixel and the buds are pragmatic....isn't that a good thing? didn't he say some bad things about apple the other time...let me see...on iphone 8? you close minded sheep, oh deer :D
Oh my god, that's so annoying!
Because these reviews were done before the actual event with announcement. Google probably had him review them much before. Therefore the dummy units.
XL2 does only come in those colors. Kinda Blue is a 5 inch exclusive.
In active conversation you need to understand what the other person said and then reply back in their language.. unless they are also wearing these earbuds : )
I would wait till Jan-Feb year for more reviews to decide on the purchase.
Same goes for the Pixel 2 XL - we all know we're getting the bigger one : )
I'm sorry, its a good idea but they just look cheap with a $159 price tag. 💯
yep they dont just look cheap they are cheap also
I returned my Pixel buds.
I can't buy them because their not truly wireless
Jared Fleming yes its truly wireless what you mean is you want earbuds without cord
Alex Smith yes what do you mean have you ever worn truly wireless earbuds you can't go back once you where them
Wireless and cordless are different in this case.. The cords apparently aren't wires.
Jared Fleming that's just there so you don't lose them
Oh noe now it's harder to lose them, wow such diadvantage!1
How good is the microphone on it? I'd like NSA to get clear and crisp sounds of my life on record.
Instead of htc I wish Google bought lg. Lg is way more innovative than htc.
lg isnt failing like htc was
al pacino seeing as htc was the pioneer of design I'd say no
Htc is very innovative.
These look like the best earbuds wtf. That fit, touch control, and they aren't separate earbuds so you wont lose them.
Pixels, phones that hope to become iPhone when they grow up.
Goran Petrovic no phone wants to be using the same design after 4 years...
Goran Petrovic iPhones, phones that hope to become Galaxy S when they grow up.
Goran Petrovic.. yes sure
@Tom Neave
The majority of iPhone users don't upgrade every year. I'm pretty sure that even the majority of Android users don't upgrade every year.
I can't see how these will resolve the issue of background noise when you're speaking. Even talking directly into your phone mic can be horrendous if you're on a busy street.
Better looking than airpods
I am sorry that you are blind.
we all lie to ourselves sometimes
hahaha best joke tonight!!
I used to think the airpods looked weird but this, this is on a whole other level. Its not just weird looking,It’s gross 😖
lmao who in the right mind thinks these shitty looking buds look better than airpods ???
Where can I get the list of 40 languages that are currently supported?
you cant skip tracks? nope no thanks
You can ask the assistant
I'm liking these. Esp with the added google assistant features
So much Meh
We live in times when audio quality isn't most important feature in headphones...
Honestly, the Air Pods look super awkward and these actually manage to look pretty dope. Plus, even if they fall out of your ear, which we all know that they will, they'll stay on your neck.
sreekar P Honestly ,airpods >>>>>>>>>these buds or watever they r
Pixelbuds looks like a headphone people selling on street for cheap bucks
H. B. exactly. they should really kill the designer for all these products honestly.
Tanay Gagrani these have better features. Do airports have live translate? No. And these are 1p bucks cheaper.
good timing a year after i received my phone
Even the headphones are ugly lol
Gabriel Peruzzi you is the one ugly
Less Ugly than the Apple Pods that's for sure
Gabriel Peruzzi then you’ve never heard of airpors lol.and pixel 2 xl is beautiful
What? You have a touch pad. Have an up/down swipe control volume and a forward/back swipe control tracks. What is Google thinking?
People hated on Apple when they removed the iphone jack, what happen now with google when they did it?
People hated on apple when they make a 150 USD bluetooth headphone, what happen with google when they did a 200 one?
you guys every time say APPLE FANBOY come on, you may like a product it does't make you a fanboy.
512 Bytes Here, take this tissue. Stop crying girl. Buy a Samsung, everything sorted. Thank me later.
512 Bytes speak for yourself. I hate both.
Buy a Samsung and then catch fire? LOL nope.
get the U11 while we're at it.
Md. Abdul Ahad Chowdhury the future is now old man
Is Dieter the only person available to do reviews? Can we get someone else for a change
Google shouldn’t do headphones... just because apple has AirPods
Honestly they should leave the hardware ALONE. look at these? The string? come on!
I only use voice assistants to make phone calls, send short messages, set: reminders, events, alarms, more specifically when my hands are dirty.
They look like $5 🤢
he said it was the dummy model
Why worry about the looks? You buy to listen to them, not to use them as your fashion accessory.
God I hate apple drones.
Google can't get translation right half the time for RUclips transcriptions, how disastrous must the results be in a live conversation?
Assistant earbuds will never be a thing. Talking in public to earphones is both stupid and looks bizarre. You only get then for the “wireless earphones” vibe.
Except for all the people who make calls on earphones already.
austininflorida but even then the call quality doesn't tend to be as good as with wired earphones with an inline connected mic :/
I don’t get it . What’s the difference between using these earbuds and a regular set of wireless earbuds with a mic. Isn’t all the processing done on the phone anyways .
Airpods > pixel buds
Aria no
electric toothbrush > airpods
Wired headphones > Proprietary expensive wireless earphones with useless features
All of the above > Jaybird freedoms :P IDK maybe the Pixel buds will be better, but not for the price, I don't think.
I didn't know Google chose you specifically as an early tester for these unreleased wireless buds and give an opinion for it.
Can you use them on a iPhone
F that for 150 I can get beats headphones
Or you could get the Sennheiser HD 558, Beat headphones don't have very good sound quality...
CaveMonkey Tamer but no Google Assistant
Arden Unger oh wow! a open back over ear headphone? GREAT let me use that on my phone to isolate noise and wear in public!
Haha!!! Beats are junk
Arden Unger The most important features to me are noise cancellation, bass, and bluetooth. What's the difference in sound?
is it better than air pods? good for gym use? or listen to music walk around public places?
It's so funny that you consistently praise every other non Apple product. I wish you were like the old Verge where you used to treat products fairly and unbiasedly...The truth is these and the other Google products released today all look cheap and unfinished.
Jake Hansen Verge unbiased? Ha good joke
Hahaha, this is funny, because I saw some other people complaining that he was being too biased towards Apple
Thank you!
Hunter Miller they are unbiased they did this to every phone and they been known to get paid mostly by Apple or rarely Samsung
Sarcasm?
The assistant thingy reminds me of the movie "Her"
These are uglier than Apple's airpods hell, uglier than any pods I've ever seen. In order for me to purchase these, would have to be absolutely stellar in sound quality.
TheBkdot You're probably the only one who thinks that.
Well googles hardware is sorta rubbish
I don’t like the wires at all. If I want to share an earphone with any of my friends we are tethered together. The case also looks more cumbersome than the AirPods
Ikr they look hideous! Im not a huge fan of apples design either but i dont have anything against them and the look hella better than these
TheBkdot I prefer the airpods also. These aren’t “wireless”. They should be in a different category. The case on the air pods are also better than this by the looks of it. These probably aren’t bad at all, but personally prefer air pods
i hate the trend of removing headphone jack. im so freakin glad that my s8 still has it.
Looks even worse than the airpods....Wouldn't even pay $20 for that....:3
Mlordy you are kidding yourself. stop wasting hundreds on all these buds.
I think I like them. I hope they work well with iOS and I hope they can be shipped to South Africa without feeling like I'm being charged for a pair of AirPods because they're ridiculously expensive here.
Just import some AirPods at a US price, they're both $160 and are designed for iOS.
AirPods knockoff, even if they are super great. They are very much created due to the existence of AirPods.
Samsung have had the Gear Icon X out well before the AirPods, so based on your logic Apple copied Samsung?
How are they AirPods knockoffs.... The only thing that is the same is the pairing function.
Luke Stojkovski No, Apple is the first to make everything. This is true even if they weren't the first person to make it.
The Gear Icon doesn't even automatically pair with the phone.
And it's just a normal BT Headphone, unlike the AirPod or Pixel Bud.
wireless earbuds have been around for years though
0:49 WHITE GREY AND BLACK, i don't see any of the colors?
Shameless copy of AirPods, the shape of the pod is the same. Judging by the look of the I’d be willing to bet that their are no wires inside the cable honestly.
Dylan White have you EVER seen the airpods?? You need glasses
It's a shameless copy, yet done in a way that makes them bad. AirPods are the same price but don't have any cord, and at least look kind of trendy.
Dylan White they didn't copy the air pods
Ps. The old gear icon x was released before the air pods
AND THEY FROM SAMSUNG U APPLE SHEEP
Are these going to work seamlessly with the original Pixel devices? I don't think Google touched on that, and I would love to know since I am very interested in these, and am not sure if I want to upgrade from my original Pixel XL.
translation feature is nice though, this could be the future of how we talk to people when we dont know the language. the day it translates instantly and with the same voice as the someone im talking to, that day i will get this
Great video I think these will do quite well. The translation software is excellent!
