The conversation detection mode switches from any sound you make. You sing, transparency, hum, transparency, cough, transparency. Also because it depends on you talking I found it useless since I wouldn’t hear the first sentence of what someone said anyways so pausing was just easier.
I use my A series pixel buds to sleep with, they fit pretty flush. I couldn't use my Pro Buds to sleep, they stick out too far. I haven't tried the pro 2's yet (just got em today).
The Power Beats Pro 2 have also gone through the washer, dryer, toilet, and a rubbing alcohol and hydrogen peroxide bath and work as well as the new pair I bought for my wife.
One thing I didn't see mentioned that I find very useful is that you can have them connected to 2 devices at once. I have them connected to my phone and computer and it's seamless to go from listening to music on my phone to taking a zoom call on the laptop and back without having to constantly go to Bluetooth settings on both devices to set the active device. Anything with Bluetooth multipoint supports that, don't think there are many more expensive earbuds/headphones that don't support that for quite a few years, was an optional in BT 4, required in BT5.0.

can confirm, at least with the bud pros, that singing along will trigger transparent+pause. I work in hospitality, mostly back of house, it's pretty good for that kind of use case. the days I'm pressure washing and listening to memphis rap I have to turn off conversation detection.
I got these the other day, and these are heads and shoulders above the existing Buds Pro. I felt real buyers remorse with the previous generation. These new ones are so much smaller, more comfortable, with better noise cancelling, better than AirPods Pro (1) transparency mode, and *significantly* better tuned. The previous ones always felt muddy and veiled no matter what EQ setting. I actually preferred the Buds A over the last gen pros. Also, the newer processor is so much faster at booting the built in firmware. The previous models could take up to 8 seconds to connect while these are almost instantaneous
Conversation detection on first Buds slaps. It not only switches to transparency, but it also pauses whatever you were listening so you can actually hear what someone's saying. Yes, it can misfire occasionally and in some weird times (like strong wind gust), but it's still an ultimate hands free way to start talking with someone.
I guess it can be annoying in daily situations like the subway or when listening to really loud music but when I'm in the gym and I have to ask someone if for example they're still using the equipment I need it's awesome and I'll definitely be using that
A bit disappointed regarding the codec mention in the video, they are BT5.4 so must support LC3 as well, and even in the video they show that it has Opus support. Been using the Sony XM4's for the last 3 years and just purchased the Pixal Buds 2 Pro to go with my Pixel 9 XL. So far, I like the sound of the XM4's and the noise cancelling of the XM4's, BUT! Love the way the Pixels Buds feel like they aren't even there in my ears where with the XM4's my ears would get slightly tired.
What I would love to know is if the buds consistently turn off when placed in their case. I have the original Buds pro and at least once or twice a week I discover that the case hasn't shut off the buds so they are being drained and my phone is still outputting to them. My friend who also has the original buds pro has the same issue. I wonder if that is solved. That could be worth the upgrade.
Whatever happened to headphones that don't jam in to your ear canal? When did pain become default? Even apple do a non pain or as I call it, normal pair
It's personal, that's why they exist. The "normal pair" doesn't even fit my ears properly, where as the "jam" pair fit fine and aren't really painful at all.
I use jabra wired sport headphones when I climb, they have 3 sizes of surround that fit your outer ear and improve sound quality. I have two spare pairs 😂I pair with Sony sbh24 for wireless convenience. ANC in buds is not so great I have xm3 headphones and they are great. Not sure about long term effects of these jam buds but we'll see 😄
I’ve got a pair of Pixel Buds Pro 2 with an iPhone. I got them primarily because they stay in my ears better and I can even sleep in them compared to AirPods Pro 2. I’d love for Google to bring the Pixel Buds app to iOS so I didn’t need to use my Pixel 2 as a dedicated settings app device lol. But anyway, the comfort of the PBP2 is miles ahead of Apple, and whatever ear tip material google uses doesn’t make my ears itchy like AirPods Pro 2 does.
caved and ordered a 9 pro last night, a pair of these being thrown in to the deal, debated selling them on unopened but i think i'll make use of them after this, seems like they should serve me well. my currents were much cheaper and do what i need but looking forward to the upgrade now
I'm hoping they made the buds to better fit in people's ears. Myself and many other pixel bud pro owners have been disappointed since they won't stay in your ears no matter what you do to them. Hopefully those ones actually fit.
I understand less and less the complaint/comment about the cable, same for phone unboxings. That's literally the point; it's the purpose of USB-C unification: to stop getting a new one with every device and avoid accumulating them in a drawer. There's a 99.999% chance that the person buying this already has a USB-C cable, and for the 0.001% who doesn't, they have plenty of options everywhere to buy a single cable that suits all their needs, ensuring they get the variant that works best for them.
I love my Pixel Buds Pro, they're so good I actually use an older Pixel 6 as an "iPod" of sorts with all my music on it in Apple Music. Love the Pixel Buds way more than the AirPods.
I think you might need to have Gemini installed and configured on the phone the buds are paired to for the "Hello Google let's talk" feature. That just makes more sense to me rather than it being baked into the buds themselves. Again, I'm just speculating here.
I think for the Lets talk you have to change from Google assistant to Gemini in the phone settings. If you were to do so you can't use Google Assistant for other stuff.
imagine having to charge your earbuds, and then having to discard it after a couple years, it's almost if these things were made to move money rather than being an actual step up from wired
Anc on ear buds, so you don't hear most traffic noises while cycling, just the wind, as loud as any other noise, making anc useless for me, dunno if that's the case here, but I still haven't found any without this glaring mistake.
I may need to switch back to medium tip. Had switched to small. I feel seal is less than with airpods pro but sound quality is great and they're super light
Its crazy to think that people got paid to do whatever this is supposed to be. A review? An unboxing? First thoughts? 11 minutes of pretty useless content that has the information of a 2 minute video. He doesn't know that there is a separate app for non-google phones, did not bother to click the obvious settings icon for the equalizer, didn't do something as simple to check whether convo detection will work for humming or any other noises, also said that the full feature set only works on the latest pixel devices, but in reality they work up until pixel 6 which is quite far from the "latest". Also listening impressions? Absolute bare minimum as he just covered a frequency chart and said that the earphones don't distort on higher volumes... 11 minute video where the only useful takeaways are a couple charts grabbed online and the fact that it doesn't support hi-res audio. Sure, that could also be a script writing issue but still. Yikes.
I'm suprised the pixels buds pro 2 don't have ldac since sony partnered with google to implement ldac into android beginning with android 8.0. For lossless audio on android, it requires the snapdragon 8 gen 1 and newer processors and the bluetooth device needs to support lossless audio with the qualcomm processors with snap dragon sound. I wonder if sony will have version 2 of ldac with lossless audio support not lossy audio like it currently is with ldac. It's too bad wifi audio is not more popularized due to support for hi res audio and having higher quality than bluetooth while also having way more bandwidth than the highest quality bluetooth that is currently available. Maybe even have 4g lte and 5g audio hi res audio built into a physical sim card since mobile data has more bandwidth than bluetooth but also have the option to limit the mobile data in terms of audio resolution since not everyone has unlimited mobile data with there cell phone service provider. For example, the lowest quality would be 320 kbps lossy compression with limited monthly data plans and even connected to wifi to prevent from using all the mobile data and up to 96khz lossless audio when connected to wifi or mobile data on an unlimited mobile data plan. The quality can be changed in the settings on the phone under the mobile data settings.
I have the originals and i don't think i'd get another pixle buds product. I STRUGGLE to get these buds out of the case and they honestly don't FEEL that good in the ear. i don't know what the airpod max 2's do differently, but the tips on these things just aren't the same.
Not giving cable is so inhumane. Whether for a phone or any kind of electronics. It's not like companies don't already make the cables. It's just "We need more money"
I've found the Pixel buds pro 2 are pretty finicky about the seal. If they aren't seated just right, they sound terrible. Same goes for active noise canceling, obviously. They're very close, but I still find myself twisting and adjusting, a good amount of the time. It's interesting when you adjust them in ear, the ANC cuts out, probably because your fingers rubbing on the microphone would cause interference and noise. The call quality is terrible though. The background noise cancelation is so aggressive, if you are in anything other than a silent room, it basically silences your voice and the person on the other end of the call hears nothing.
The first PBP's were already difficult to grab from the case and your ears, so even smaller yet is not what I wanted to hear. The original Pro's were also hard to control because of their small size, so yet another reason why smaller isn't good. Then there's the transparency mode that sucked compared to the AirPods Pro 2 (lightning).
They are easier to grab. They stick out from the case more. That was one of the most annoying things with the PBP, especially when my fingers were sweaty.
I really hope Google will continue using this kind of design I love my buds 2 pro and I got disappointed when Samsung basically cloned the AirPods. If they continue to do that I shall get one of these as my next buds :)
I have these already and they're great. They're a lot better than the buds Pro 1 and they are very comfortable and light. However, not having aptx or high quality codec you can actually hear it. I'm not an audio file myself but I can actually feel it
Have it (Pixel buds pro and pixel 8 pro), it's not that useful versus just using the normal translate app on your phone, all it adds is that after phone translates it will do text to speech. Not that useful as person you're talking with doesn't really see you reading translation or anything, so makes it awkward as other person thinks you're taking a call instead.
These videos are so low effort. First being clueless about the EQ settings, then not getting Gemini working because the phone is still set to use Assistant. I've had my PBP2 since Sept 26th and they are amazing. They are a big improvement from my original PBP and the best buds I've had so far. I am very pleased. Plus, they were totally free with the Google Store credit i got with my P9P pre-order.

I miss the old shape ones. That are all plastic, without the foam tips. The foam tips never fit for me.
Not sure about long term effects of these jam buds but we'll see 😄
@@cl4ster17 yes default but not really suitable for default like the standard buds
Can you use the web app?
Don't think it's safe to be sleeping with bluetooth in your ear all the time
caved and ordered a 9 pro last night, a pair of these being thrown in to the deal, debated selling them on unopened but i think i'll make use of them after this, seems like they should serve me well. my currents were much cheaper and do what i need but looking forward to the upgrade now
I have the buds pro 2. I really like them. They're not as loud as I would like during calls.
Did I miss where you mention if the ANC and transparency is as good as the airpods pro? That's the main thing I miss in all android pods
Is there no mention of the latency here or did I miss it somewhere? It's literally the only thing I want to know about them
So does this work smoothly with other Android phones?
This OOBE video is nice but as a truck driver, I need to know how that ANC and Mic experience compares to others.
james, you triggered my google home 2 nest thing 2 times in a row...hey editor! please bleep part of the "hey google" next time
Don't buy this spyware and you won't have this problem
No, that's what you get for accelerating Skynet
@@egarcia1360Skynet is inevitable
I think this what you get for actually buying a home nest 2 😂
Why your devices so sensitive snowflakes?
The Conversation Detection was already built in the first Pixel Buds Pro. It wasn't new for the Pixel Buds Pro 2.
Im seeing comments about the MKBHD thumbnail, but is this not also using the same 2:1 aspect ratio as MKBHD?
They're A/B testing MKBHD-esque thumbnails for all videos now
I think for the Lets talk you have to change from Google assistant to Gemini in the phone settings. If you were to do so you can't use Google Assistant for other stuff.
Conversation detection does pickup up singing !
So does this mean that there is no way to change the Buds' settings if you don't have a Pixel? Then It's not something I would consider buying.
Only if you don't have an android.
There's a Pixel Buds app on the play store
There is a dedicated Pixel Buds app for non-Pixel Androids. On Pixel it's pretty much the same but seamlessly integrated into regular phone settings.
@@cl4ster17 okay thanks
The smaller buds NOTABLY don't hurt my ears at all, compared to the Pro 1s.
Putting the original ones in your ears takes some getting used to, and I'm still not sure if I use them right because they slip after a while.
imagine having to charge your earbuds, and then having to discard it after a couple years, it's almost if these things were made to move money rather than being an actual step up from wired
Anc on ear buds, so you don't hear most traffic noises while cycling, just the wind, as loud as any other noise, making anc useless for me, dunno if that's the case here, but I still haven't found any without this glaring mistake.
i LOVE the colors pixel products have been doing, but i just can’t give up the convenience of airpods pro’s
Yikes.
Yea, underwhelming
Yeah it's cool and all to have a chill vibe but this 'review' was a waste of time
I'm suprised the pixels buds pro 2 don't have ldac since sony partnered with google to implement ldac into android beginning with android 8.0.
The transparency mode is top notch 👌
When he said "Hey Google lets talk" my phone was just like you talking to me.
When you said "hey Google let's talk" you started my Google assistant 😂
Sounds odd, I can talk on phone calls just fine while using a John Deere skid steer at full rev.
@@alecksgatesSweaty fingers made them easier to grab for me, it's when my fingers are dry that I had a hard time.
ShortCircuit has stepped up their thumbnail game 🔥
im a need this for the aipods ty
I would love if the Google Pixel 3 buds will add bone conduction as a feature and a better Spatial Audio EQ.
How is the bass and noise cancelling on the Google Bud Pro 2?
Bone conduction would be a completely different product though?
They should have put two new holes in the bottom so its same on both sides. rn its the reasson why i prefer the old one. Looks cleaner
I like the new thumbnails. Less clickbait.
I really hope Google will continue using this kind of design I love my buds 2 pro and I got disappointed when Samsung basically cloned the AirPods. If they continue to do that I shall get one of these as my next buds :)
Just bought pixel buds pro 1 for $100 cad because these ones came out. Looks like I'm not missing out on too much!
Yea tried conversation detection for like 10 mins and it was annoying and hasn't been back on since.
Love my pro 1 currently. These look nice
I have these already and they're great. They're a lot better than the buds Pro 1 and they are very comfortable and light. However, not having aptx or high quality codec you can actually hear it. I'm not an audio file myself but I can actually feel it
For the talking this to work, you gotta make sure gemini is set as the default assistant, or else it will go to GA.
This would be helpful to new users.
The words to activate gemini handsfree = "Hey Google, let's talk live"
Wow. I have buds pro and when you showed the relative size I was sold
Main reason I’m considering the purchase is the translation feature which you didn’t even discuss
8:30 Yeah, mine too 😅
These videos are so low effort.
So these wont work if you have an iphone?
Thanks for the review JD Vance
I still use my nothing (ear) 2s
Sounds great and get a lot of compliments from strangers. The outer transparant case detached (broke off) but slme krazy glue brought them right up
It was also very cheap when new
Next set of tws Im going for senheissers or something of the sort
Lmao the hey google let's talk activated my voice assistant
I use Actual Apple AirPods with my Samsung phone and they work great.
