This is true. I've had gig1 for almost 2 years now and they didn't upgrade my hub, I still have the hub 4, so I have never got even close to GIGABIT speeds, I barely even get 500mbs I reached 890mbs once in the 2 years via a wired ethernet connection. I do, also have a 3rd party wifi 6 enabled router, and even with that, i dont get over 500mbs. I contacted them earlier this week to complain, and they finally agreed to send me a hub 5, which arrives tomorrow. Here's hoping for better speeds.
@studioidris Oh, forgot to update! The new router arrived and made a massive difference. I now get speeds of between 800 and 900 constantly! Sometimes drops below 700 but not very often. I'm still yet to see speeds of 1000 or over
@@daleullbrichtI’m getting the volt gig1 upgrade from virgin after threatening to leave and join BT. They offered me the new package for £46 a month not bad at all for 1gig download. Hub 5 should arrive tomorrow, I’m hoping they don’t send me the 4
You have to make a nuisance of yourself. Keep ring and keep complaining. Keep threatening to leave and they will send out a technician.who 9 times out of 10 will just take one of the new hubs out of his van for you. Thats what I did lol Then I rang up and went into full Karen mode about not getting signal in my bathroom or upstairs so they sent me a wifi booster. Unfortunately its the only way to get the services you pay for nowadays.
@@daleullbrichtdid it take time for the wifi speeds to pickup or were they instantly faster? Think im in exact same situation as you, was given hub 4 even tho paid for gig1 and speed was around 300-400, literally an hour ago my new hub5 arrived but wifi seems exactly the same
Where I am, I've usually got a slightly higher speeds than Virgin's advertised speeds when using ethernet. When I started with a 10Mb/s download, I'd easily get around 12Mb/s and sometimes a little more. My mates have always been impressed with the speeds I get and I'm now on the 1Gb/s plan with a second landline. I quite like Virgin Media. :D
good job on the video Idris great info as im on m500 with a old white router they gave me in 2016 , im going to get the 1gig and hub 5 , even tho i have a new R3 router with wifi 6 ,
@studio Idris I need to mention that this service is cable DOCSIS 3.1 and not FTTH like hyperopic or city fibre but vergin is bad especially ping ideal close to O 1-3ms.
Virgin has just expanded to our area and just gone live the last few weeks and we are one of the first to get the the gig1 service. Only broadband is available in our area as it’s fibre to the router using the hub 5x. So far we love it
To the hub we getting 1141mbps down and 109mbps up since they put it in. We had sky that could only give up 49mbps so we more than pleased to say the least 😀
Pls can you test the FritzBox 6690 Cable, because it got Wifi 6 and an 2,5Gbit Lan Port when you got an 2,5Gbit Lan Port on your PC or an Lan Card with 2,5Gbit then you can get 1,1Gbit in the Download tip from me greetings from Germany 😊
Yes, you should - Gig1 is showing as £45 per month on the Virgin Media website but you may be able to get a better deal by ringing them up. Don't forget to compare other providers in your area.
Virgin Media's Gig1 broadband is misleading. It’s not true FTTP but uses coaxial with DOCSIS 3.1, and has asymmetrical speeds. That's why your upload speed is only 100Mb!
I have a 1gb virgin media package using the latest 5 hub with 1 wifi booster (the black one for the higher speeds). My download speed is 856mbs and upload 96.7mbs. These types of speeds are the best you are you going to get in the UK imo
i got sick of virgin and the prices, i now have giganet which is 1gb upload and 1gb download for £40 per month and no increase in price for 1 year. less than half the price of virgin and much faster upload. Never had a single problem since getting it installed and saving a lot of money, well happy
EE Full Fibre is now the fastest major provider. Providing 1.7Gbps over Openreach. Even though Virgin might have a faster speed than BT Full Fibre 900, BT use Fibre not Coax meaning it might be more reliable and lower latency.
Yea mate the6 should give everyone Hun 5 , and thats the reason i left them and switched to You fibre and its absolutely beast and cost is way cheaper than Virgin Media
I think all fibre companies roughly about the same when it comes to speed my Lila connect speed test with wired Ethernet was 950 up 925 down wireless was done on ASUS router speed was 810 down 900 up I was with virgin media I was not pleased with there service slowing me up at certain times at night it was a nightmare Lila connect same speed what ever time of day or night.

Hi Dale, please let us know how you get on with the new router. Is your download speed better?

What's the music track in test 2?
The music in these videos is licenced from Epidemic Sound at www.epidemicsound.com/

Hi Joe. That's great to hear. Can you get the maximum download speed with the Hub 5?

I don't have access to this cable modem. I will try and get an upgraded Hub from virgin media but they have initially refused.
@@studioidris get it yourself i also got my own Router not from the Provider you can easyli buy it greetings from Germany ;)
do you have any tips i should upgrade as my bill is 71 pound for m500 out of contract now ?
Yes, you should - Gig1 is showing as £45 per month on the Virgin Media website but you may be able to get a better deal by ringing them up. Don't forget to compare other providers in your area.

Can I have the promotion code please? I'm about to switch to VM
Hi Paul. The link is aklam.io/c1gMvs
guys if you livestream virgin media will throttle your upload speed. so be very careful with virgin media

What provider?
Giganet is provider
Gone with Community fibre after 11 years with VM. Their upload speeds match their download speeds unlike VM and a damn sight cheaper.
EE Full Fibre is now the fastest major provider. Providing 1.7Gbps over Openreach. Even though Virgin might have a faster speed than BT Full Fibre 900, BT use Fibre not Coax meaning it might be more reliable and lower latency.
This is good news - prices will hopefully decrease for slower speeds now. Once one provider offers this, others will follow.
Yea mate the6 should give everyone Hun 5 , and thats the reason i left them and switched to You fibre and its absolutely beast and cost is way cheaper than Virgin Media
I got vm 1 gig ,it's shit

the hub i have phone tv internet are plug into thr hub phone is a joke i cant call out
Hub 5 is better hub 4 known for issues
land line is bad
U need a cable and plug in 2.5g plug in a hub5
Yes, that is correct. However, Virgin refused to let me upgrade from the Hub 4, as I was upgrading from a 516Mbit connection to mid-contract.
