Not sure why anyone would do board and batton barns today... The boards rot and warp and let in water bugs and mice and all kinds of elements. I have a 80 year old board and batton barn 4x the size of this one, and i have to replace 50% of the battons due to warpage and repair sections of the support poles and board walls due to rot. Here is a hint.. Put gutters on that building... itll save the building from rottong
Agree on the gutters. You can see the backsplash discoloration. As far as cedar B and B, if installed correctly with appropriate expansion gapping and good stainless ring shank nails into a solid backing, they are just as durable as any other wood siding. Steel buildings are an eyesore, so I appreciate what they did here.
Gutters for sure, but real cedar can't be beat. You have to know what you're doing instead of relying the materials to pick up the slack. ;) Just replaced some 24 year old shakes on all of the state park buildings with new ones. Am personally putting cedar b&b on the home I'm building. LOVE real cedar.
i guess, you dont need a fancy modern one like this. I bought 14 acres in northern VA with a 2500 sqft house built in 95 so it isnt that old honestly, and the barn on it is 80 years old, and 4x the size of this. its a board and batton barn just like this, has power, water and 6 massive double doors to it, where this has only 3 garage doors. I can fit 6 cars in the middle of mine and i have 6 horse stalls and a workshop with a concrete slab. The barn is old and needs some repairs.. but you can find stuff like this for a decent price.. The property i got was only $350k

Wow! 👋👋👋👋👋👋👋
What stain/finish did you use on the siding?
Seems excessive for storing an old RV and puny boat ?? .. still darn nice though.
Nothing ruins a nice setting like steel buildings, IMO. I suppose if you can afford it, cedar is a great option.
