Currently a KKMK2 user, not particularly enamoured with it versus older Yamaha and Korg keybeds, so exploring other options. You're a Kontakt user, but not a KKMK2 user-interesting to see! Is there any conscious reasoning behind that, or simply a case of "works for me"? Noticed JXL and Guy Michelmore are on KKMK2 (88 key models no less, but I don't like the action), clearly tastes vary considerably.
Mulling an FVDE if I can't find an all-in-one controller with a nice keybed and decent faders. Just puzzled on what keybed to go for. Any thoughts if you were to start over in 2022 in terms of controllers?

AFAIK no other DAW has this. It's pretty amazing Cubase was first and not Live or Bitwig that have been doing the auto-mapping to macros for years.

    • @WarrenPostma
      @WarrenPostma 2 года назад

Just about every DAW has this. Bitwig is probably the best though. About the only way this cubase thing is better than bitwig is that this has more "WYSIWYG" GUI for doing the mappings. Using the generic controller systems from DrivenByMoss, you can do basically everything he's showing. Cubase 11 actually DID have this capability but you had to learn to code.

I'm having mixed thoughts because I really love some of the features like the sample start. I really love your channel and you've helped me improved so much. Love ya dude

    • @DJLA

After working on MGSV I realised I had to move away from Ableton Live, mostly because it lacked a few MIDI features and a 5.1 output that I needed for the projects I was working on. I then started looking at how each DAW was focusing when putting out Updates. Live was more focused on loop triggering devices and new remix like features, which had no use for me. Cubase however was adding new features for scoring to video and some really intuitive midi functions. So I came to the conclusion that if this is the kind of music I want to do, I should probably learn a DAW that focuses some of its effort catering to my specific compositional needs. It sucks in the short term, but now I am very profeciant with Cubase and can do more with it writing scores than I could with Live. Zero regrets.

@@DJLA The biggest problem with Cubase 11 for me is stability. Cubase 12 has not brought the much wanted and long awaited new model for isolated plugin hosting, so it is not as stable, and can't be as stable as something like Bitwig. I'll probalby mozy back to Cubase if they fix that problem.

I like that they made the functions more user-friendly and thank you Daniel, for your video!
Nevertheless, I agree with many others, that for such an anticipated update, it was rather disappointing. I hoped for Cubase to fix the problems with expression maps, integrating more functions to go between Cubase and Dorico (as Dorico did a huge step towards Cubase with their last update) and many other features that are simply just missing: Multifreeze, open VST when selecting a track, soloing track by selecting parts, dragging a midi to audiotrack automatically renders and creates audio, Fix cycle recording, copy single automation points, etc.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not hating, just a bit disappointed.

  • @SoniclayersMusic

I am wondering if the midi glitchiness on the Audio Imperia controller is because you have it setup as both the midi input and the midi output? If so, maybe choose none for the midi output within Cubase so it doesn't create a feedback noise loop.

I have a bank of three faders too and although I can create a remote, I can't get MIDI learn working in Omnisphere - not sure where the issue is. There is no way within the Editor to assign MIDI only control functions (e.g. transport buttons faders etc)

Looks like Cubase is picking up the tiny fluctuations of the signals coming from the controller. Every device does this. No controller sits at an exact value no matter the resolution. At some point, when you go down enough decimal places, there are fluctuations like what you see with the faders. Seems like Cubase just needs a hysteris sensitivity setting that you can set per controller.

In Windows you just go to your AppData folder and copy all the settings/files from the Cubase 11 to the Cubase 12 folder (delete the files in the Cubase 12 folder first and make shure, the program is not running). For me this seems to work best over the last years, as I'm constantly switching between my PC and Laptop. I think something similar exists in Mac, just don't know the name.

Also being able to manually set up your device in the custom manner I showed (to the point you can mix midi CC and controller data) is so powerful when combined with everything else Cubase offers.

Reaper blows Cubase away with midi especially takes.Reaper is so easy to select different takes where Cubase is a nightmare.
I put Cubase Pro 12 in stacked mode and it's supposed to mute optther takes except the last take but this did not happen for me.
Also when soloing a take lane, the take would not make any sound.
Reaper does this SOOOO much better.
