You did this Perfect!!!! I have seen many stylists skip or improperly do soooo many steps. Most don’t base the scalp. They put the booster on ALL the hair at the beginning no wonder it comes out with stringy straight ends. They don’t rinse the hair well. They are stingy with the products and don’t want to saturate the hair so the curls has set properly. I have seen stylist sit clients under the hair dryer for 25 to 45 minutes with Heat!!! No wonder they have breakage. They don’t use cotton they put a towel up to your forehead and tell the client to hold it. SMH.
I just wanted you know I appreciate doing this textbook style and we need more stylist like you.

Why not try a new way to do the curly perm instead of braking down all the bonds in the hair, you could stop the process when you see the curls in her natural curl are wavy you could rinse the thio relaxer then from that point apply the rest of process to set the natural wave in the hair.

She didnt put any Protection on my scalp she just aply the product. Thank God i did not get hit with the chemical.
So it has been 5months that i did it. 2months After the process a lost the curls or wave maybe it is normal but i cant See myself paying this money again. My hair is very Natural at the top and i want do the perm by myself with a help from my boyfriend in February.
I‘v order the Wella Straight to do this and i saw o hv used also something called booster so i Look on Internet booster from Wella i find alot and dont know which one i should buy. Can u please give me a tipp?

I remember having a jerri curl back in the day my mom did it and I hated it because I always had to use Donnie curl activator to keep it moisturized those were the days ❤

Wow..this was amazing. My hair never looked that good when I went the salon back in the day. I do my own hair and it is actually much better and longer and healthier now than ever before. I have no more breakage or burnt scalp...SMH. Bad experiences at salon are unforgettable. I went all natural and my hair loves it.
However, If I had you to do my hair I would be singing a different tune.
Lastly, I don't remember getting any pre base before any perms back then.
Liked and enjoyed the vlog. I can't wait to see more. It was nice and calming watching you do hair. Your really good, BTW.

Can I ask please why it was called a Jerry curl ? Being English my first perm was called A Afro perm ( sorry for using that word) it was a short tight perm and bouncy , thanks.

@@ThEhObBiT1959 It's called a Jheri curl after the creator Jheri Redding, an American hairdresser, chemist, hair-care products entrepreneur and businessman. That's just a quick snippet of what I found on Wikipedia.

Thank you for showing the very detailed process, including all the proper draping of the client. The last several steps seem very similar to a curly perm for European/Caucasian hair. Given that you are using a thiol product that will break down the disulfide bonds, and then a neutralizer to help them reconnect in their new positions (which sounds to me just like the perms for Caucasian hair) is it absolutely required to do the separate relaxing step first?

  • @anndeecosita3586

Since it’s being brought up, I seriously doubt her hair will stay wet. I and other people I know use curly perm moisturizers and styling products like activator gel on our natural hair and it doesn’t stay wet. It dries but still looks shiny. I use to use Smooth and Shine Activator gel a lot until they changed the formula.

It does break down the disulfide bonds but its ph level is lower than sodium hydroxide.. sodium hydroxide break down more bonds than ammonium thioglycolate. When applying these chemicals I would stay off the scalp until the end because heat from the scalp causes chemicals to work faster two you still run a risk of irritating the scalp even with applying a barrier cream.. the parting of the hair with the end of that brush on the scalp alone can cause irritation due to improper parting of the hair.
