3:47 How the hell do you speed run and go right into a tilt? This only gets me a meteor dash. I know I'm doing exactly what you are doing with the controls because you show the buttons you press. So this makes no sense. Did you hack the game or something? How the heck are you doing that?
"Kirby doesn't like being in the air as much as you'd expect" Me, wondering why I'm so trash at the game: oh ok so thats the problem Me, not jumping 6 times and then down b-ing into a fully charged forward smash: wait this is working really well
I wish other people would update guys as the years go. Holy crap, my boi is putting out the names of the top Kirby players to watch too. 😥 This guide is what future players need, and your info presentation should be the standard. Thanks for the great work.
Can you start this with the excuse of being a prank of the video I gave you is a good idea for me to her home And hooks me up with a brand-new monster phone Leaves me alone But I escape and meet some bones Should I be a pacifist I think I'll use my fists I'm feeling evil and I promise on my mothers grave I won't act like this is a good thing to do it please people love you so much and I promise on my mothers grave I won't act like this is a good thing to do it please people love you so much and I promise on my mothers grave I won't act like this for my mom or mom for the first two months in my home to make her own home in this playlist years ago she is not an ideal person and I have never had such pleasure to work on a job in my opinion and experience
Quick notes: SuperGirlKels also has a fantastic Kirby. In fact she took a set off of Fwed around two weeks ago, the best Fox player in Canada. Other Kirbies to look around for at locals are Meden, qwertz143, Cobblemaniac, and Default.
Love how you covered stuff for total beginners (even telling what a Back-Air is and whatnot) as well as for decent players who just want to get a grip of Kirby. The other videos you linked to all seem pretty helpful and together provide an all-around in depth guide. You even talked about which stages you'd want to pick, a topic overlooked by many comparable guides for other characters. Didn't expect this guide to be this great, but thank you.
Two things: 1. You did say this, but the wording felt weird to me. So, I'm saying it again in case anyone is confused. Kirby's feet are disjointed ONLY during his up tilt, up smash, and down smash. Any other time they are a part of his hurt box. 2. In the case of rapid jab on shield, it will slowly push your opponent away, and if they drop shield right out side the range of Kirby's rapid jab, they pretty much get a free parry. That said Kirby's rapid jab finisher has slightly more reach than the rapid jab itself and comes out frame 3 after releasing the rapid jab. This means that if you release his finisher right after the opponent's parry most characters don't have an option fast enough to escape being hit by the finisher and knocked away. Other than that it great video with lots of good info.
I’ve actually really wanted to get better at Kirby for a long time, but I never really thought that I would. Enter this video. I had no idea there was someone with a channel with so much SSBU Kirby content! Congrats on a new sub!
I'm a Kirby main, so this was a pretty helpful video to watch. I didn't know how great Up-tilt and ducking can be for Kirby, so I'll make sure to do those from now on. Thanks for the tips!
This guide is not only good for leanrning kirby, but is useful to look up animations with the particles, as you gow into detail showing the move. It's really helping with my sprites!
Hey Juggleboy, I'm currently working on a ssbu related app that'll have info about each character, and I found your Kirby vid to be really helpful to learn more about him. I won't monetize this app at all, it'll be completely free (i'm doing it as a learning experience) but I will mention your (and everyone else's) channel because of the educational content. Thanks a lot for this video! Edit: liked and subbed :D
Omg thank you so much Juggleboy I've been scared to play Kirby in Elite just because I didn't wanna work to get him back in it but I think a bit of practice in this video could help me so much. Thanks again! ^^
I loved every point of this video. Of course you weren't able to cover everything, like NAir clanking with almost every projectile in the game, but within the time range of the video, it was really well made. I am so proud of how Kirby's meta has progressed since the start of the game.
If only Meta Knight had a guide youtuber with the prowess and attention to detail as you. I'm still working on my weak N-air to F-smash combo though, so this video helped a bunch. As an aside, my school just celebrated its annual Father's Day, and at the smash booth that my associates and I organized, I met 2 beginner-intermediate level Kirbo mains, whom I will now share this video with. Also I'm too pressed for time to be on the smash Kirby discord lol.
Fun t Kirby combo at 0% is: Down air, f-throw, fair, run towards them and f-throw, dair, up tilt. That can deal around 40-50% which is nice but if your are REALLY good and have time to practice it then you can also: Down air, f-throw, fair, run towards them and f-throw, dair, up tilt, jump twice, footstool, jab, down tilt, 0 charge hammer. Which can kill in some cases from 0 but typically gets them around 70-80% (Better explained in drippindribblin’s combo video level 10)
This is an awesome guide, you did a very good job covering the essentials of Kirby. Thank you a lot, I learned a lot of stuff I haven't even thought of doing. Great job!
As a Kirby main I have a few critiques. You should mention advanced kirby-cide tricks and advanced sword tech; People always downplay his sword. Believe it or not sword can combo if you continuously grab ledge, spike on ledge, is great for spacing, as well as combo enemies midair and on platforms. Also more explanation on bait tools would be valuable here: throwing a short Inhale, rock canceling mixups, and using sword at a distance are standards as bait tools. I would also suggest you share some techniques for dealing with inkling, k. Rule, and plant get ups - as in when to rock vs attack from the side with air moves vs inhale
So Im starting to play more competive and I picked up Kirby... Ive been practicing with my friends along with playing a lot of online and this guide kinda sets the bar low, most people look at Kirby as a mid-low tier. His combo game is insane, and if you get a tiny bit of damage of a random attack it allows you to make a gaping hole in their playstyle. One things I would also say about Kirby is he is extremely good because he gets in peoples heads. He really is good at denting at a players image of the Kirby without dieing losing a stock at zero etc. I know this guide is for starters and intermediates, but could you try for a little bit more competive tips? Im not trying to hate but I feel like this gave a lot of good info just not some comepetive mixup or matchup advice
Really enjoyed this updated guide! The first guide really helped level up my Kirby play, and I learned some new tricks watching this one. One thing I would note, or maybe it is the smallest of nit picks? On the section about Up B you said you can normally recover high and not be challenged. That's true in my experience, but in your footage you showed it against Mario and in that case you would likely get hit with Fludd and regret everything 😁.
Thanks I’ve always wanted to get better with Kirby since he’s one of my main players ive watched combo vids for Kirby but didn’t understand them but you made this simple enough for me to follow just tnx
Okay I just wanna say one thing real quick that's useful for Kirby, as well as other characters. With tilt-stick set (it may be true for smash-stick as well) you can do an instant Dash-attack instead of having to do it out of your dash walk. It's useful for ensuring that you don't misinput an ftilt instead, and the Dash attack doesn't have to be inputed while you're doing your dash walk and can be done out of the initial dash
I often use down B to punish attacks with slow endlag. If they're too close, with for example an up Smash, I tank the hit and they get hit by the rock itself. If they're next to me, I tank the hit and and un-rock before throwing out a Bair or Fair
Played Kirby all the way through he is the hardest to get right and stay good at. He is a real challenge but just as good as the rest. Just more time to master.
As a kirby main, I usually down or up b when I'm too high in the air, just in case the player below will combo or final smash I never really do grabs, I usually just try and shield and roll out of the situation and stay in a range where I can hit the opponent, preferably with a dash attack or side b
19:55 if you're in this type of situation where you're facing the blast zone and have inhaled your opponent, you can spit them out (by pressing the attack button) when they're around 70% to launch them into the blast zone and kill them while also being able to make it back yourself
I finally got smash because all of my friends kept talking about it, im mad I didn’t get it sooner because this is one of the funnest games I’ve ever played
I main Kirby and side A is probably one of my favorite moves. In a battle I usually use it first, sending them up in the air and then using the up tilt a with a small charge, jump, and down A. One of my fav Kirby combos
Bruh thanks so much. I’m such a Kirby fan and I use to be so good at playing Kirby but I stopped playing for years then I got into gaming club so when I choose Kirby they say “Bruh Kirby sucks” so ima prove them wrong at our next meeting 😈
One suggestion: after knocking an opponent offstage at low percents, immediately use Kirby's up-b (air cutter) near the ledge because it will often catch them in mid-air and provides an opportunity for a better offstage down-air
Kirby seems a lot more viable than the tier list makes him out to be. I bet he'll start to actually get good results now bc nobody knows how to play against him lol
i just want to say, if you crossed with dash attack with the early hit and then hit with late dash attack, people will often expect the crossup because it crossed up before but wont cross up this time.
If there is one thing I think could be buffed aside from Battlefield FThrowing then it’s Inhale Spitting when it comes to projectiles. It only lets you spit Charge Shots, a fully charged MM Fsmash, and Pac’s hydrant. Each of the moves listed above are on characters Kirby benefits by Copying their abilities, and if more low damage projectiles could be spat out such as Cross or Boomerangs then I could legit see Kirby being Mid-High Tier. ;-; pray tell in the fighter pass 2 updates he gets this above mentioned buff, being a one trick Kirby competitively since Brawl is hard and nobody understands, as you’re so used to his playstyle at that point that you can’t really switch mains at that point.
Keep smash stick on as I also play ness and Kirby’s smash attacks don’t have a lot of ending lag but also I grew up using smash stick and tilting is way easier for me
One of the things I do as an amateur Kirb player with the up-special is this: when I'm hanging from a ledge and think my opponent's gonna try and hit me, I like to bait them out with an up-special. I fall off the ledge just enough to be able to pop up with the attack. It can catch them in the move if they're right at the edge, or I can sometimes catch them off guard with the projectile. I imagine that if you're taking Smash Bruddahs more seriously, it may not get more than a single use before your opponent can see through it. But it's something I tend to do nonetheless.
Succ N Cucc (KirbyCide) meta is underdeveloped. Most Kirby mains will not practice the technique because of its "cheese." If you are fighting a little mac or Ganondorf, get an early lead and camp the ledge. You will be surprised of how little they can do. Yes, I am talking in a competitive sense.
I do really well with him at a locals but always end up getting paired up with the guys who end up winning the whole thing and they know the match up so makes it harder. Also online hes bad even though I'm in elite... if they buffed his down air and his inhale to be like warios he'd be soooooo much better. But all around I think hes under valued cause other players tools are superior. Would be fun to see his hammer get buffed too. Over all good video homie.
I like to use a down b on the ground after a spot dodge or duck it helps if the enemy used a move with lag, and kills when they are at mid-high percent It works on the basis that they expect down b when you're in the air, but doesn't really work twice

I'd like a power variant, Fighter Kirby could be fun, or something more obscure like Plasma Kirby.

This was a very helpful video. I have played kirby for a while (since brawl) and this video gave me some tips for me to improve. :)
I like that they re-added his Melee dash attack, because in the Kirby games, the fire ability is one of my favorites
I often use down B to punish attacks with slow endlag.
If they're too close, with for example an up Smash, I tank the hit and they get hit by the rock itself.
If they're next to me, I tank the hit and and un-rock before throwing out a Bair or Fair

Love RKs Kirby. He also competes often
As a kirby main, I usually down or up b when I'm too high in the air, just in case the player below will combo or final smash

You wont find Ganon or Mac in a competitive setting

@@marwin436 It has been a week and this literally just clicked with me
Bruh when are you gunna see a kirby in a competitive level LMFAO
I do really well with him at a locals but always end up getting paired up with the guys who end up winning the whole thing and they know the match up so makes it harder. Also online hes bad even though I'm in elite... if they buffed his down air and his inhale to be like warios he'd be soooooo much better. But all around I think hes under valued cause other players tools are superior. Would be fun to see his hammer get buffed too. Over all good video homie.
So some of Kirby's best match-ups are against some of melee's best characters? I like that.
Newbies who see pros who main kirby: ITS OVER NINE THOUSAND
Thanks. Just got my Kirby into elite smash and needed some tips
Jab comes out at frame 1 now so that’s cool
Notes:
Kirby's feet are swords
Inhale
Punish
F-tilt is good
Dair
TILT
Kirby best character because he can assert dominance online
I like to use a down b on the ground after a spot dodge or duck
it helps if the enemy used a move with lag, and kills when they are at mid-high percent
It works on the basis that they expect down b when you're in the air, but doesn't really work twice
With characters around pits weight you can forward air juggle right off the screen with enough jumps to return if you time it right
Kirby 10/10 hopefully we get something more soon but my pink puff is still the best!
