I wonder what's going on in Sakurai's mind from the attention of the crowd, how awesome it must be to be so admired for directing such a beloved and amazing game.
WanderingRandomer it must be crazy think of the developers they must be proud after years of work. That's why i want to be one, my dream is to part of the team developing a pokemon game

This is a great fit to say that ZeRo was here not just to win, but passing the torch to MKLeo who became a dominant player for the next couple of years!
I'll give you that I still remember the excitement that I had while watching this, and told to my mom that I'll buy the Switch with this game, which has happened (I was on high school back then) Now it gaves me a smile remembering this (finished college and I have a job)
Up b through the spring is not a glitch and Bayonetta didn't even do Bayo things except against plup who doesn't even face Bayo because he doesn't play smash 4 like that.
You gotta give it to the commentators, sure they got some mistakes here and there, but they kept it hype and fun, and hearing them working with TK was a treat
I disagree. The commentators were annoying and clearly didn't know what they were doing, at least not nearly as much as someone like Yipes/D1 They literally just kept stating the obvious. Look, this isn't radio Baseball. I can see and hear the game go on, them going "Hey, look at that side throw" and stuff really bugged me.
C'mon, don't be such a baby, being annoyed by "Side Throw" is really dumb, they Clearly didn't know about the game and the competitive scene prior to this invitational, but they did their research, they don't know stuff about the history of competitive smash, and yet they were giving facts about the players relevant to what was happening on the match. Like I said, you have to give to them to them cause they actually did a good job despite the fact that they prolly didn't know shit about smash before this event, heck! they prolly didn't even know about Splatoon, and they clearly did their research.
Air Dashing? did you mean "Directional Air Dodge"? if so, she wasn't saying it's bad, she was saying that it has a lot of ending lag, which is true, and that's usually the case when they're announcing the new games, they want you to say the new mechanics or features as much as posible, that's not the commentators' fault. "They" being the producers or the Marketing guys (sorry don't know the exact word in English... publishers?) And yeah, they weren't explaining everything, but they were explaining everything they could catch, nobody is perfect, but they were acting really professional about the whole thing, just cracking a joke that take like less than 3 seconds and get back to commentating, and let's face it, that MORE than the majority of commentator on the Smash tournaments do, which are extremely unprofessional, Even Breezy had several mistakes while commentating, maybe not in the terminology of the knowledge of the game, but in commentating itself, when one of the commentators gave him the world, he go on a tangent to tell a joke or a story and took him like more than 8 seconds to get into the punchline and even more to link that story to what is relevant to what's happening.
Nothing gets me more choked up then seeing people give a thumbs down when Sakurai said he needed to go back to work quickly the next morning, followed by the crowd cheering his name. That is what a loving community is all about.
Is it just me, or does this game look much faster than Smash 4? The graphical effects as well make moves so much more satisfying to connect, which was a big gripe of mine for Smash 4.
As Expected of Pieck It's sort of half way, with a big emphasis on returning aspects of the series rather than new ones. I feel like the editions change it just enough for it to feel fresh, from the new graphical style, to the much improved UI, and the long requested returning fighters and stages. This truly is the developers finally implementing all of the things fans have nagged them about for years.
All the shit Sakurai and company are putting into this game and people want to call this a lazy port and whine about a very unfinished game... You serious guys?
doesn't make it lazy and doesn't make it a port. Literally different engine different graphics and a lot of things have been reworked, new animations for quite a few characters. this game is meant for competitive play. the 20% who wanted story mode aren't enough to warrant it over adding every character into a big roster.
For more aggressive play, yes. Rolling got nerfed and so did airdodging. Dash dancing actually looks somewhat viable and dash-cancelling looks better now. But competitive play as a whole..? No. At least not yet.
Some features I’m loving from the new Smash so far: 1: The increased damage in 1v1. That will really help pace the matches. 2: Directional airdodges. Once people learn how to maximize this, I feel the movement options will be phenomenal. I can’t wait to see what new options this opens up for some characters. 3: The mini map of the blast zone when someone gets launched off screen. I think it’s just neat to see how close someone is to being KOd, Idk. 4: The hitlag effects of moves. It makes it feel like other fighting games while still maintaining the feel of Smash Bros. It makes landing hits satisfying as well. 5: The slow-mo effect of the final blow. Again, makes it reminiscent of other fighting games. It makes landing the final blow super satisfying, and adds extra tension to the final hits of the game. 6: Consecutive rolling penalties. We NEEDED this in the game. Defensive play was too strong in Smash 4 this will encourage more aggressive play, and subsequently pace matches better. 7: New perfect shielding. This is a really interesting concept that requires even better timing than Smash 4 Imo. Looks similar to other fighting games Parrying system, I can’t wait to see what happens when players start utilizing this at max potential. 8: Triplats and Omegas for ALL STAGES. I just love the idea of having a host of Battlefields to choose from lol. Anything I’m missing?
The smoothness. Every character is faster and stronger and, when played competently, looks like they're actually fighting. It's a constantly engaging experience because everyone can now move places faster, lowering the down time between close encounters to the perfect balance between something like Melee Fox V Melee Fox and Sm4sh/Brawl Ganondorf V Jigglypuff. Ya get what I mean?
Many called Smash 4 “Brawl 2.0” and it turned out to be much faster. Many are calling this “Smash 4.5” and I can’t wait for how it will actually fold out. It’s already looking much faster.
Smash 4 wasn't all that faster than Brawl. Just slightly, or maybe even similar. Playing them back to back it seems Sm4sh is slightly faster in some areas but slower in others (yeah I still play Brawl, crucify me) I almost believe that "Sm4sh is faster than Brawl" might have been something like a placebo effect. Smash Ultimate, on the other hand, looks faster in almost all areas, not Melee fast but faster than Brawl and Sm4sh for sure. People who have played it also claim the same thing, so maybe the speed was actually increased overall rather than in just some areas to give an illusion, but the game is not out yet so that remains to be seen.
This competitive set is set in stone as one of the best ever played! Both ZeRo and MKLeo played it masterfully and it had a ton of incredible moments! 6 years later and it’s still like I’m watching it for the first time!

Nobody counts online 😂 it will never be counted. Leo has been the best smash player for almost 3 years. Once ZeRo retired, Leo became the champion of Smash.
These finals couldnt have had a better story line. The former king of Smash 4 taking on the heir to the throne. And they were playing the biggest rivals of gaming history to boot! Amazing
Today is December 7th 2021. Smash Ultimate is now officially 3 years old….it’s crazy how much has changed since this very first official smash ultimate tournament. Time really does fly man….
Just imagine ppl who wants a Story Mode and the developers of this game with characters from different games, just brainstorming a story that makes senses is freaking hard.
I wouldn't say it's hard, but rather inviting and would take up a lot of imaginative strategies to make a legit story mode for Ultimate. I mean, we had a story mode in Brawl, which was 10 YEARS AGO.
I'd love to see this or the early E3 build out in the wild someday. The smash team had pro sm4sh/melee players beta testing and I hear they stripped out some of their suggestions from the final game. There was proper dashdances and shielddropping, so I'd like to see what else was cut.
Does anyone else thing the massive smoke clouds after every little knock back just looks like it’s too much?... I like it for longer knockbacks but it just feels like too much sometimes
Yeah it bugs me too. Can’t see through all the smoke. If it’s that bad in double it will prolly be a pain in the ass to try and team combo when you can’t see who you are hitting
Yeah this is the only flaw I really saw in the game, I was watching a four player match and you could hardly tell what was happening because there’s smoke everywhere.
*_seems they nerfed all the dodges, and buffed the attacks. Turned a character's biggest weakness into their greatest strength. This shakes shit up more than fairy types when they were released._*
Delusional Cloud maybe. hopefully she's a tiny bit faster. If she is, then she's definetly viable. Dunno why but Zelda felt like Ike in SM4SH. Like she looked like she'd be fast and hit hard, but was way slower than you think.
The whole trio of commentators was pretty subpar but *GOD* I cringed every time I heard him say “Ba-YO-netta” “S I D E G R A B” calling back airs forward airs, ugh. The bulky guy was definitely the worst to listen to. If not for the exciting gameplay I probably would have had to mute the video or just stop watching altogether
Can't believe how all out Nintendo has gone to make this game and invitational happen. It's just beautiful! Thank you daddy Sakurai for this awesome tournament and this wonderful game!
Is it just me or does Mario and Sonics portrait make it look like they are actually colliding blows with their feet? If so that would actually be really hype. All the more reason to make this iconic fight more memorable.
Speed o sound Sonic, same. Just cuz I do 3 things. Dislike sonic (understand he can be fun to play as, but still don’t like fighting a good one), Bayo (personally think that her combos are a little over the top, but still more balanced than Sm4sh), and play Mario (fun and simple to play, but understand that down throw->u-tilt is annoying and avoid it and/or use it to combo in more interesting ways)
Interesting how characters seemed a bit faster in this early build. Particularly Mario and Bayo seem to have more air speed and running speed. Hitlag also seems lower.
Does this game have fucking tech throws? I swear I've seen it multiple times with a little green flash. Please tell me this is the first Smash Bros. where you can tech throws. That would be fucking AMAZING.
See, this game gives me hope. It seems that Sakuri has been listening to the community and fans a lot here; it's no Brawl trying to kill the competitive scene, and though with Smash 4 we saw some Nintendo support and few attempts at bringing forward the competitive scene, it was still heavily community based. I feel like Nintendo now get it, they understand what the competitive fans want but still can cater to the more casual crowd. Bringing in players from Smash 4 and Melee here is pretty symbolic of their approach and of the game I feel; it has some of the speed of Melee, but also will definitely be a good entry point from Smash 4. Removing stage hazards as an option, the great buffs to EVERYONE it seems! Adding a battlefield form of every stage, just, man...I have high hopes!
Dude seeing the gameplay of Mario and sonic and other characters making me more hyper then ever before in my life and I cannot wait since I am getting the switch for Christmas and this game!!!
Anyone else feel bad that Sakurai that he is taking a midnight flight home to start work first thing in the morning? Its like dude, relax. Enjoy Sol Cal awhile.
I like to imagine Zero And Leo just looked at each other in silent agreement when they went for Mario and Sonic.
Me too!
no.
"Hey"
"Yeah?"
"For the grand finales,Lets play as the duo"
"What duo?"
"Y'know,THAT duo"
Are u gay?

I wonder what's going on in Sakurai's mind from the attention of the crowd, how awesome it must be to be so admired for directing such a beloved and amazing game.

I've never watched any pro match before, but this puts a smile on my face
These finals couldnt have had a better story line. The former king of Smash 4 taking on the heir to the throne. And they were playing the biggest rivals of gaming history to boot! Amazing
wooow, that ending...this man is so commited to making an amazing game, i can't wait for release.
had to come back and watch this again
the misuse of the word "lag" is baffling
lol this comment section is either people bashing the game, people defending it, time stamps, and ... S I D E T H R O W!
Pretty much what happens every time there is a new smash game.
SIDE THROW
he also said SIDE AIR in that last match along with 2 SIDE THROWS.
Super Nova
side-grab into the throw
Super Nova
GRAB AND THE SIDE THROW, VICKY
I like how the final KO spark looked back then as opposed to now.
The King retakes the throne
Booooooo
Edge
jenkseboy word, fuck ZeRo
Armada didn't win, so what do you mean?
But that's not Salem. It's just scarflard.
Today is December 7th 2021. Smash Ultimate is now officially 3 years old….it’s crazy how much has changed since this very first official smash ultimate tournament.
Time really does fly man….
Zero merecia continuar.
This match was the first time I heard of MkLeo
@Lord Benpai the first time I heard about MkLeo was around 2016
Haha, same here man! He’s now my all-time favorite player to support and watch, it’s been really cool to follow his journey!
What I’d do for a copy of this version, would be so sick
Aaah good old times
I don’t care if they don’t add any new content to this game, it’ll still be my favorite Smash game
Lord Sakurai thanks 4 this master piece
emphasis on 4
its the 5th game not a port
Nintendo says it's a new game and explain how

Just imagine ppl who wants a Story Mode and the developers of this game with characters from different games, just brainstorming a story that makes senses is freaking hard.
I wouldn't say it's hard, but rather inviting and would take up a lot of imaginative strategies to make a legit story mode for Ultimate. I mean, we had a story mode in Brawl, which was 10 YEARS AGO.
@@horsepowerenthusiast6933 Was the story good though? Let's be real. It was enjoyable to play though.
Oh my god Mario and villagers character select portrait looks so realistic, I wish they did this with every character
that's because they used the characters model of the game instead of rendering them on a pc with a more detailed model
Do you have a timestamp?
@@bossmast3rboom929 2:15
although ZeRo could've screwed up in the past, smash wouldn‘t be what it is today without him.
Edit: And the allegations were false, welcome back Zero
Amen
He’s back !
He’s lost weight and I’m happy for him too glad too see he’s turned his life around. Really inspiring
I'd love to see this or the early E3 build out in the wild someday. The smash team had pro sm4sh/melee players beta testing and I hear they stripped out some of their suggestions from the final game. There was proper dashdances and shielddropping, so I'd like to see what else was cut.
It’s been 2 days and the best players have already mastered it.
Does anyone else thing the massive smoke clouds after every little knock back just looks like it’s too much?... I like it for longer knockbacks but it just feels like too much sometimes
It's never too much. IT'S SO AWESOOOOOOOOOOOOOME
Yeah it bugs me too. Can’t see through all the smoke. If it’s that bad in double it will prolly be a pain in the ass to try and team combo when you can’t see who you are hitting
Agreed. It seems a tad distracting.
Frade sorry I couldn’t help it
Yeah this is the only flaw I really saw in the game, I was watching a four player match and you could hardly tell what was happening because there’s smoke everywhere.
I remember seeing this when it came out on switch news
5:00 a moment of silence for zero's air dodge.
CHARLES FORD no I saw them, they're not useful tho
She has an actual jab her up be is much faster and the game mechanics make for an overall better character. I think she will be good.
“Side Grab into the Throw.”
New meme guys. 12:32
timestamp is 10:20
Browser Junior “Grab into the Side Throw” actually
EmeraldGaming 12:32 is what I’m talking about
The whole trio of commentators was pretty subpar but *GOD* I cringed every time I heard him say “Ba-YO-netta” “S I D E G R A B” calling back airs forward airs, ugh. The bulky guy was definitely the worst to listen to. If not for the exciting gameplay I probably would have had to mute the video or just stop watching altogether
Mario's model looks different
It’s been a year. But it’s actually his portrait. I noticed it too. It seems a lot more rounded in the final game
I think the portrait in this build was just his in game model doing the pose. The final portrait is the render.
Every one watched this 11 months ago from when im watching this
same here
you commented 11 months ago
Can't believe how all out Nintendo has gone to make this game and invitational happen. It's just beautiful! Thank you daddy Sakurai for this awesome tournament and this wonderful game!
“Is bayonetta gonna be the best character in smash ultimate”...uhhhhh this is dated lol..
Ok but can we get a gif of sakurai nodding his head to the chant at 29:47? It’s just beautiful
28:30 that victory pose tho...
You can’t have a more iconic finish than that!
19:16 I don't think you should be able to damage players on top of the stage when you're UNDER the stage...
That’s just how some moves work man. Some hitboxes are disjointed enough they can go through the stage (such as a sword).
Speed o sound Sonic I think its fine since sonic is kinda a underused character as he has a few weaknesses that make him a little difficult to use
Could always be a bug
Is it just me or does Mario and Sonics portrait make it look like they are actually colliding blows with their feet? If so that would actually be really hype. All the more reason to make this iconic fight more memorable.
I could tell by the commentators’ voice, that they were on MKLeo’s side.
Everyone loves an underdog, and here, anyone who's not ZeRo is an underdog.
Captain Neckbeard well armada wasn't a Underdog
Speed o sound Sonic, same. Just cuz I do 3 things. Dislike sonic (understand he can be fun to play as, but still don’t like fighting a good one), Bayo (personally think that her combos are a little over the top, but still more balanced than Sm4sh), and play Mario (fun and simple to play, but understand that down throw->u-tilt is annoying and avoid it and/or use it to combo in more interesting ways)
Why not? Zero is arguably the best out there, that’s like going to a casino and routing for the house.
ZeRo probobly the best player I’ve seen in a while tbh
I absolutely love the new animations in this game.
I wonder how Sakurai feels about Waluigi Mario winning the tournament. Even when put down, Waluigi still pulls through.
Starnana Holy shit I just got that. Zer0 absolutely knew what he was doing haha
Starnana Lol Zero secretly wants waluigi in smash
Interesting how characters seemed a bit faster in this early build. Particularly Mario and Bayo seem to have more air speed and running speed. Hitlag also seems lower.
This game looks so beautiful omg
This aged so bad lmaoooo
@SlipperyStacks Nintendo cares 0% on how competitive ultimate is
@SlipperyStacks There’s literally a case to be made that Nintendo has literally gone OUT OF THEIR WAY to not listen to the community lol
Can not wait to play those two again. The good days on for Glory
ZeRo beat MKLeo with a -2 matchup. That's crazy
Dude seeing the gameplay of Mario and sonic and other characters making me more hyper then ever before in my life and I cannot wait since I am getting the switch for Christmas and this game!!!
"ZeRo... you are really good... BUT are you good enough to beat the Creator?"
*Creator Sakurai challenges you to a battle*
What is that announcer saying? Either he is cursing, or he is calling someone "fish"...
The classic battle
And a timeless one at that!
Anyone else feel bad that Sakurai that he is taking a midnight flight home to start work first thing in the morning? Its like dude, relax. Enjoy Sol Cal awhile.
