Jared Wignall I strongly agree with you! He’s a great actor who really gets into his characters! I can’t believe this is only his 2nd Oscar nomination!
I finally got the chance to see "Darkest Hour" a few weeks ago and I have to said that Gary Oldman delivered an electrifying and magnetic performance full of a realistic challenge. He really deserves to win the Oscar for best actor. My respects.
Timothee was a good contender but his performance doesn’t hold a candle to what Gary Oldman did. Tim will have his day if he keeps the good work up. Gary’s waited his whole life
YESSS! So well deserved for one of Britain's finest! Beautiful speech in which you could tell just how much it meant to him. Anyone else tear up when his voice started to wobble near the end??
Gary Oldman is by far the best screen actor of all time in my opinion. He should of won all of these awards and an oscar for Dracula, which is probably the best screen performance I've ever seen.
Can we appreciate David Tennant in Doctor Who as well? He reminds me of a bit of Gary actually, the way he can switch the character on and off instantly. Another extraordinary actor!
Haha, agreed. Still...loved Timmy's reaction, it was so pure. I am sure he was extremely happy for Gary. Same goes for other guys who were nominated. Timmy's time will come...and I cannot wait :) He's won our hearts long time ago anyway.
All actors of substance and talent have a role in a lifetime that comes their way, the knack is recognising that moment and that moment indeed came for Gary Oldman's blazing and honest portrayal of Churchill. Probably one of the most definitive performances by a British actor in many many years and Gary Oldman's finest hour.
I was so worried he wouldn't win because whenever Daniel Day Lewis is nominated he always wins. These awards for Darkest Hour are well overdue for him, he is an extraordinary actor and criminally underrated.
DDL won BAFTA 4 times out of 7 nominations. As for the Oscars, it's 3/6. He is not so unbeatable actually. Not taking anything away from Oldman's win, of course. He was the obvious winner this year IMO
nice to see gary get this award he deserves it , Churchill he played i think he did a fantastic job and the darkest hour was a good film very accurate to how it was, apart from the metro scene.
Legend! 👊 wished he saw Lily James her co star gave a standing ovation at the back ❤ Love Lily's performance in this movie wished she was nominated for Supporting Actress.
Next Stop : March 3,Los Angeles .....The Oscar will be waiting for Gary Oldman to finally get his hands on the elusive statuette! He mostly deserve it!
I adore Gary Oldman and I understand that this is his year...but I was not moved by his performance. Yes, it was a good impersonation but it lacked the life, soul and heartbreaking quality of Timothee's performance. Only three times in the last 25 years I have felt like I was seeing something really special and extraordinary - a stroke of genius in a young actor: River Phoenix in My own Private Idaho, Heath Ledger in Brokeback Mountain/The Dark Knight and Timothee Chalamet in Call me by your name. We lost River and Heath too young - talented, precious souls who were too good for this world. We need to cherish Timothee as he is truly one of a kind!
The Barbon, it seems to be a safe bet in the movie industry to honour those who imitate someone. This happens because they can objectively compare the actor to the original and tick some mimicry boxes (Churchill, The Queen, Truman Capote, Aileen Wuornos, Harvey Milk, Idi Amin, Lincoln, Stephen Hawking, etc.) I understand why the industry values these and I can see their appeal but what Timothee did was something entirely different, heartfelt, deeply emotional and therefore more special. He had a blank canvas and filled it with his own colours, I admire that!
Yes, precisely. The narrow parameters are seen by some as be-all and end-all of artistic proficiency. Oldman works brilliantly from text - he has the range, the imagination, the vigour...Oldman is worthy of all praise coming his way but NOT for this role. I personally liked him way more in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Prick Up Your Ears and even Bram Stoker's Dracula. Timothee simply got in the way of some "divine" justice - a long overdue recognition for Oldman. But the best role this year was definitely Timothee's. And I hope you are right about his bright future because he really IS something else.
I second that. Oldman will win the Oscar. But it will not stop me rooting for Chalamet. The highly acclaimed performances are by no means the best ones. They are usually the self-indulgent, artificial, show-off, look-at-me-wearing-prosthetics roles. They show a form of superiority and have an air of untouchableness about them. To me art happens to be a more subjective, intimate, delicate and natural experience.
Timothee Chalamet in Call Me by Your Name , gave a brilliant performance in the movie. Very Natural and into the character of Elio. If you see the train station scene, and calling and going home with his mom crying,, this is very moving scene. piano scene, dancing scene, and living room scene, those scenes make him a winner.
The fact you loved Chalamet in CMBYN doesn't mean his acting was any better than the winner. Playing an overplayed historic figure and pulling it off with a groundbreaking fresh interpretation is way harder than playing a new fictional character. Oldman deserves all the accolades he's received
He really is a wonderful actor, but I feel so sad for Timothée Chalamet. He was amazing this year, not only on the movie he was nominated for, but also on Lady Bird. They should have at least given him the Rising Star award
bad timing. I hope Oscars will change someday and truly deserving actors will get the award. Gary Oldman should've had at least 3 Oscars by now and this year Timothee should have won all the awards. He was truly brilliant.
I like how in all Award shows that year, these 4/5 males are always the same people, like; Timothée, Daniel K., Daniel D., Gary Oldman...and in every award show Gary won..like poor others never even had a chance💀
By my count Gary Oldman has been nominated for 48 awards for best actor in Darkest Hour and he has won 26 of them so far including: Golden Globes, SAG, and BAFTA. All he needs is the Oscars and he will take the big three (GG, SAG, and Oscars!) It's all him this year ^_^ But 26 out of 48 so far is insane
Enfin ..... je sais bien que nul n'est prophète en son pays mais il était grand temps que le Royaume Uni honore l'un de ses meilleurs, sinon le meilleur acteur de sa génération ....
Well deserved. Next is the Oscars. I feel Gary will finally win an Academy Award. He deserved it for this film and its long overdue for him.
Jared Wignall yes... Step by step he will... Still asking why hes taking that long to win an oscar... He deserves one
Jared Wignall I strongly agree with you! He’s a great actor who really gets into his characters! I can’t believe this is only his 2nd Oscar nomination!
He won the oscar finally.
He won the Oscar!!!
Well, he's done his waiting... 12 years of it... in Azkaban.
Especially seeing as he gave the best screen performance of all time in Dracula.
that's right - we've all been waiting ever since Sid & Nancy
I still think his performance in The Professional is unmatchable
I finally got the chance to see "Darkest Hour" a few weeks ago and I have to said that Gary Oldman delivered an electrifying and magnetic performance full of a realistic challenge.
He really deserves to win the Oscar for best actor. My respects.
Golden globe
SAG
critic choice award
BAFTA
And The Oscar on the way
Damn right! I'm looking forward to Gary winning it in just two weeks!
He will win the Oscar in 2 weeks! His performance was incredible!
yep
yes dude i agree with you
He did!!
Oldman has been robbed for about 30 years so don't feel too bad for Timothee
Timothee was a good contender but his performance doesn’t hold a candle to what Gary Oldman did. Tim will have his day if he keeps the good work up. Gary’s waited his whole life
I love you Gary you're the best ever
He is so emotional. Great actor. Very happy for him. :)
Well deserved, I've been waiting for this moment for years. My favorite actor of all time, love Gary Oldman.
Nathalia F. me too.
YESSS! So well deserved for one of Britain's finest! Beautiful speech in which you could tell just how much it meant to him. Anyone else tear up when his voice started to wobble near the end??
They should have given him a standing ovation. One of the greatest actors living today.
Well deserved not only for this brilliant performance but all the previous ones. One of the all time greatest.
One of my favourite actors, much deserved award.
Wait, why am I crying?
Because it's amazing to watch a great actor get a well deserved award for a fantastic performance!
airplainchild
To get an answer to that one book a session with a shrink.
airplainchild it's called pride. ❤
airplainchild hahahahaha same 😂😂
well...Oldman is being robbed from awards for 30 years or something. Thats why i got teary eyes
Brain= gary
Heart= timmy
Jonathan Eilbeck absolutely...and thats why phantom thread is out of the topic
Haha, agreed. Still...loved Timmy's reaction, it was so pure. I am sure he was extremely happy for Gary. Same goes for other guys who were nominated. Timmy's time will come...and I cannot wait :) He's won our hearts long time ago anyway.
gotta love timmy's lovemaking scenes.... with a peach

What a great actor. An award well deserved !!
Finally. He deserved this award.
I think Gary has done one of his best roles as actor and also he deserves win the Oscar, l hope so
Timothy Chalamet is so cute when he laughs at Salma’s joke 😂. What an impressive group of nominees.
Gary can burst into tears with just one more one in that speech😢😢❤❤
Great speech

Probably one of the most definitive performances by a British actor in many many years and Gary Oldman's finest hour.
very well deserved, should get Oscar also
Should have won the BAFTA years ago for Leon. 'EVEERRRRYOOONE!!!!' One of the best villain performances ever.
Traveller T I absolutely agree with you..
Scene makes me LOL so hard. Love his randomness
I have always wanted Gary to be recognized with all the acting awards in the world but I never thought he'd finally win them playing Mr. Churchill. XD
Great actor.
Brilliant actor...you finally did it Gazza!
Finally he starts to get the recognition he deservez
I was so worried he wouldn't win because whenever Daniel Day Lewis is nominated he always wins. These awards for Darkest Hour are well overdue for him, he is an extraordinary actor and criminally underrated.

I love british accent, i'm latinamerican. Oldman nevah surrendah!
❤Love you ,Mr.Oldman!!!!
In terms of acting categories, Gary Oldman's first BAFTA. (Won twice before for Best British Film and Best Original Screenplay)
Well deserved genius
Wow! How distinguished Gary looks, I'm glad to hear he's married w/ 3 kids. Congrats Gary.
Finally Gary
3-4-2018 ( 1 minute ago ) Well past Due - Gary wins OSCAR! - YAAAAAAA!
He held the line for honour, for integrity, and for freedom ... for his country, and the WORLD

Salma is lovely~
Tiptoes. The role of a lifetime
Yes Gary oldman bring home the gold for Britain I'm glad Daniel day Lewis didn't get another one he's got the most.
The BRITS giving an award to Churchill, how so not expected. *wink wink
Jokes apart, Oldman did a great job with the role.
No shit. It wouldn't be the YANKS doing it, would they? and why put Brits in capitals? XD
Churchill was an imperialist dog
@@knightf8648 so was your mum

I am convinced he will choose his roles wisely. He is too interesting, mature and intelligent to be mainstream and conventional.
those are three films about gay relationships - which basically suggests you are majorly biased, mate
Well done Sirius 😜
he did his waiting. 12 years of it. In Azkaban
Give the man a fucking Oscar already, for fucks sake!!!
This is one man who can act......
Timothee Chalamet in Call Me by Your Name , gave a brilliant performance in the movie. Very Natural and into the character of Elio. Give this man an Oscar for God's sake.
Lit Gary Oldman is awesome.
GARY ..... GREAT !!!!
Oh yes!
Viktor Reznov wins BAFTA Award!!!!
Hope he wins the ocar.
I am not crying -_-
I love how Jamie Bell is the quickest to "get" Salma's horrible mix-up joke
He really is a wonderful actor, but I feel so sad for Timothée Chalamet. He was amazing this year, not only on the movie he was nominated for, but also on Lady Bird. They should have at least given him the Rising Star award
Facu AF who? Never heard of him.
Gabebigdog You will tho very soon.
Rising star awards are for British actors only.
No, Timothée was nominated for this one as well...
DonVal86 Actually the people vote from a nominee list and Timothée was in it
como no amar a este ser humano
Go gary to academy
El mejor de todos los tiempos
South London in the house!
Finally!
Gary is wearing the same glasses he wore for the Oscars when he was nomianted back in 2012. He's nominated for the Oscars this 2018. Coincidence? 😂
Only one as talented then DDL is this legend right here.
...he didn't win an Emmy or a Tony for it, cause there were none to give:)) He deserves everything good that's coming his way.
MY NAME IS GARY OLDMAN!
AND I WILL HAVE MY OSCAR!
Gary Oldman, the only one who can outshine Daniel Day Lewis
bad timing. I hope Oscars will change someday and truly deserving actors will get the award. Gary Oldman should've had at least 3 Oscars by now and this year Timothee should have won all the awards. He was truly brilliant.
I know it's Bafta, I'm just predicting the Oscars
I like how in all Award shows that year, these 4/5 males are always the same people, like; Timothée, Daniel K., Daniel D., Gary Oldman...and in every award show Gary won..like poor others never even had a chance💀
Gary ,Daniel ,Timothee too much to take 😍
Oh my!!!
I'm not crying, I'm losing it looks a small baby !!!!
Gary Oldman had a heart attack when he heard "Franc...."
On to the Oscars...30 yrs overdue.
He is so soft spoken compared to his sister (Little Moe from Eastenders) 🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂.
Cool video
Better than Chalamet's performance
Sirius Black won..!!!
Timothee is very beautiful 😮
I like how they didn't start playing him off the stage like they do at the Oscars. It's so freaking rude!
did i drink too much or is that 2 microphones
long overdue.
Timothee is a charmer here,)
Enfin ..... je sais bien que nul n'est prophète en son pays mais il était grand temps que le Royaume Uni honore l'un de ses meilleurs, sinon le meilleur acteur de sa génération ....
He should be Knighted! Sir Gary Oldham.
Pft I’m not crying you are
He used to have a cockney accent , oh well.
There’s something Australian about his accent
last year penelope, now salma
strongwise And?
Huh? That made absolutely no sense Salma! Especially after Envelopegate last year at the Oscars.
Jack Mahanes i thought it was funny
I found it cringeworthy at first, but it's alright, all the nominees got a kick out it. I'm so happy for Gary Oldman! He truly deserved that win!
It was a joke, calm down.
I know it was a joke, just seemed like a dumb one. But seeing how the nominees reacted, I had second thoughts.
I think it's just you but okay
He named one of his sons Gulliver? Wow. That's way too British and literary for me.
What's wrong with naming your son Gulliver?! It's a great name!
There's nothing wrong with it, but it might be hard to grow up with a name like that, unless you grow up to be a giant.
DDL deserved
#foreverupset....
Timmy shoulda pulled a Kanye... JUST SAYIN!
It's Gary Oldman's time but... Jesus, man, DDL was so freaking good in Phantom Thread."
"Next!"
