Ray is one of my favorite drummers and such a cool guy!! Back in 2008 Army of Anyone played at the House of Blues San Diego, CA. It was A 18+ show and I was 17. I was with my Dad and was told at the door I wouldn't be able to get in. I was so bummed out. My Dad and I had entered the restaurant part of the House of Blues and saw 3 band members eating dinner in the corner of the restaurant and went up to them and told them "hey guys just want to say I'm a huge fan but I'm only 17 and was told I can't come in for the show" they were humble and cool. My Dad and I with our paid tickets attempted to get in line and the door guy was a different security guard and I got into the upstairs balcony which was were the band was standing for some reason RAY saw me and picked me right up off the ground with a bear hug and said hell yes you made it in lil dude!!! Was such a cool experience. Later during the show Ray pointed right at me with Joy to see me not get screwed out of what was my bday gift from my dad. Ray your best bro I will never forget that interaction.
it's maybe not fair to say Ray is "underappreciated" as people who know, know how good he is. He's essentially a studio-quality drummer that found a permanent home. And that kit sounds fantastic.
his doubles are so tasty, in Korn, you do not usually see this side of Ray: cymbalwork is the body of the song. juicy mix, and great execution. oh my god. \,,\_
Had no idea who he was 15 year ago and he instantly became one of my favorite drummers! Rays a beast! These drums sounded freaking amazing! No explanation needed for his drumming!
I've always aimed to write songs with the mindset expressed at 1:23. It feels musically balanced-no over-the-top elements or showboating-just a perfect blend of solid drumming and thoughtful songwriting, giving the song exactly what it needs. Another proof of Ray's top tier songwriting skills.
Ray's perfect combination of precision and groove has long fascinated me. If you're not familiar, go watch everything he did with Army of Anyone. And, big shock, he just gets better all of the time.
I love watching Ray play! And I've never played the drums in my life! 😂 I am so glad he joined KoRn.. my favorite band since 1998! I prefer KoRn's newer music, too. I used to be embarrassed to tell people KoRn was my favorite band back then. Not anymore! They've evolved so well!
This was incredible. Ray is clearly one of the best rock/metal drummers working today and people are STILL talking shit about him because he replaced David Silveria. David's great in his own way. Don't compare the two. Just appreciate what each does and how much they've contributed to heavy music. ❤
It’s great to see this full piece. I loved the footage from Sweetwater but I really wanted a full play through. This was done during Drum Feat back in May. Surprised that it took them this long to get the videos up. On a side note I was the guy that had you sign the drum magazine with you on the cover from your Army Of Anyone days. Thanks dude!
Ray Luzier, just like the atmospheric music for the Rayman game. And his groovy snare sound and crisp bell playing, makes me think if he has played with Three Days Grace.
Watching Ray play drums is about as exciting as the drumming in an AC/DC song. lol. He's not human. I've always said he was an alien because no human can play that good. lol Cool Shit. I've been a big fan of Ray's since early 2000's. Great Drummer, and actually a pretty cool guy. Well, you know that's true, he's drumming for Korn!
Dear Ray - I'm always inspired and amazed by your control over the set. Who do you get nspiration from...other than Jesus? Thank you! You are the elite!
When the “nu-metal” drummer nails proggy to remind everyone what “world class drummer” means… 🔥
Never thought of Ray as metal until he joined Korn-he’s just damn good at everything he does
@@JamesPhillips-cp4vn for sure
Luzier was recording on albums before Nu metal even existed.
@@paulblackburn8566 yup
I got to see him at a drum clinic before he was in korn and it was super proggy

it's maybe not fair to say Ray is "underappreciated" as people who know, know how good he is. He's essentially a studio-quality drummer that found a permanent home. And that kit sounds fantastic.

Epic drumming by the master! The best starts at @2:41! He really turns that guitar riff upside down!
Dream Theatre will be calling you if Mike Portnoy splits again. That was some pretty intricate drumming, Ray.

Taking that China cymbal out of the center of Ray's set would be just like messing with Ron Burgandy's teleprompter.

Gavin Harrison gives this 3 thumbs up.
Wow ive always said ray is the best drummer in the world
There is no best drummer in the world. There are some drummers who reached maybe the perfection of what they want to play.
