Yall crack me up yalls communication during the lift is hilarious. Eh what up no down more in or out eh what eh huh!!! Its so funny!! Reminds me of me and my dad!!
Some advice. When you put the 977 back together use a block and tackle instead of the chain. You can then make small adjustments to lign this up. Moving the forks is way too jerks and inaccurate.
Years ago I puled the transmission out of my Cat track loader. The experienced mechanic said, if you paint the transmission before you put it in, It won't fit.
You made that way more difficult than it needed to be...... Some advice, I do this every day. Start out with the forks as low as possible on the michigan, so they're almost touching the part you want to take out the shorter your chain sling the better, you never want to have a bunch of weight hanging from a long chain. Then Michigan could have picked that up right out of there no problem
Had the option to buy one like it this spring, sitting in weeds under a tree, much like this one, only had so much money and I spent it on the 2 Ford 5000s they were also sitting neglected at the same place. The guy that bought the michigan got it running while I was there and after it ran for at least a full minute, blowing walnuts out of the stack, a red squirrel came barreling out too!! That detroit sounded so good, made me question my decision.
In the loader, is it possible the air leak is causing the air brakes to lock up the wheels, creating the drive problem…or at a minimum making it worse? When trying to push the 977, it looked like maybe that was an issue. Just a thought.
That took some creative thinking for a shop crane substitute! Another crazy shade tree mechanic solution is if you're lucky to have a giant oak tree: tow the dozer under a strong branch, lift the transmission with a chain block attached to the strong branch, tow the dozer out from under it and lower the transmission.
To make it easier to remove the transmission with an implement, use a 1 1/2 ton hoist, that makes it easier to remove it without having to move the machines, that is a very unsafe condition, doing it the way they are doing it. .
I've watched so many YT videos about machinery yet you guys are way more interesting than all of them combined, IMHO. It makes me want to help you out in person but the drive would kill me... be safe guys..
just remember, you guys are doing fantastic work. of all the people in the country, how many are doing what you do. these are all very big jobs and the success rate of your work is something to be proud of. you teach at every step, and the level of intelligence and respect of tools and machinery is commendable. thank you and best wishes
If the pedal was used to turn off the engine there's usually a stop where you have to put your foot under the pedal to pull it back and you can feel the pedal click to shut it off and when you go to start if you push the gas pedal a little then let off of it and then it locks into place so the engine will run
worried about corrosion in the coolant, run a light oil like ATF instead of water. mack has done it in mil spec for years. though they just use engine oil.
When you guys said you '' REBUILT '' The GM screamer you forgot to mention that it was only a half ass rebuild not to GM specks. YOU SHOULD HAVE TRALORED IT TO A SHOP AND TAKEN IT OUT !! Great video Thanks
When you start forcing engine components there always a chance you are putting unnecessary stress on other parts like valve train connecting rod or super charger .
short chain on forks or bucket, come a long in the middle to raise and lower. I use Permatex Aviation #1 on fuel. Great job so far, having a powwow to get everyone to a plan is important !! Got my tee shirt- nice !!
My crazy idea is using the loader forks as a base and attaching a heavier winch or as someone else mentioned a chain block & tackle. I myself would use at least an 8,000 pound electric winch. Or set the transmission on some steel plate in/on the machine and then adjust chains. Gotta think outside the box but safety comes first¡!!
Id check the clutch linkage in that loader, sometimes they have so much slop the clutch is always half on, or it could be depressed by the floor plate probably not the cause, but its something to check
You could make a horizontal crane 🏗️ mounted to a 48” tall vertical post welded to a base with rectangular tubing that slides over the Kubota forks with large bolts that tighten down on the forks. That would increase your lifting height
Always amazes me how you guys always go for these heavy duty machines and get them started heavy changing all that stuff and here you are wearing freakin Greek sandals I don’t get it. Your guys are asking to get your feet chopped off.🤣
At least they're not wearing the sheet robes like the India ship yard guys with their flipflops & stick welding all the dirty metal w\ no prep work, slag removal, etc! 😄👍🛠️👌🚜🔧🔩⛓️🚧⚠️🏗️🤷♂️🤦🏼♂️
Gee, i cringe every time you hold the equipment over that big piddle! I keep expecting a loud ping and the equipment falling in the mud. But i did notice what looked like a sufficient chain. Still cringed.

Want to buy some DIESEJL merch to help SAVE OLD IRON? bonfire.com/save-the-977s
I just received my shirt on Friday! I appreciate resurrecting old iron! I’m currently working on rebuilding the 3306T in my old D6C! Keep ‘‘em coming!
Awesome job on that Michigan Loader love those Detroit diesel engines
Yall crack me up yalls communication during the lift is hilarious. Eh what up no down more in or out eh what eh huh!!! Its so funny!! Reminds me of me and my dad!!
I watched you rebuild Michigan's 353 in-place and then this. I can't believe how calm you guys are. I'd be swearing here and there.
Haha it’s just iron nothing to get upset about
I call it heavy metal. :)@@dieseJL

I came to say the same as you 👍
You'd think it were obvious
☹️🏴🇬🇧

Dang. Yeah I love ours, sweet little loader once we get it right.

I love watching you and your dad working together. You make a good team. Fix the throttle, so it will idle.
Yep....move that up to #1 on the to do list. Automatically eliminates one person from HAVING to sit in the cab at all times.
It is fixed! Stay tuned

Just wait till you see us pull the engine 👹
Your making progress. We all admire your determination and commitment.
Thanks!!
put ratchet dog tensioners on each chain to adjust how the trans sits for easier install.
Great job guys, while that trans and tq converter is out, this is your best time to re-power wash that inside! :)
Yes
I'm waiting for that too 😊

I knew you would jerry rig something to get the rops off 👌I had faith🙏👍
What a mess
Please at 12 mins get the green K teuck running!!! It looks cool!!
She already runs! Just in summer storage…
I've watched so many YT videos about machinery yet you guys are way more interesting than all of them combined, IMHO. It makes me want to help you out in person but the drive would kill me... be safe guys..
Your wrecker would be sweet though!!

Thanks Russ! See you soon
Great video!
HOWBOUTCHA!!
So glad y'all got that thing going! Great work y'all!
Yeah we are too. What a cool machine. Thanks!

Excellent job, keep up the good work!
Thanks! Progress 🐌
Keep wrenching!
That little case dozer is a champ

Nice work.
It was cool to see a Parker shirt from my home town Greensboro, NC. Very nice videos. Keep up the hard work! Thanks
Thanks! Lived and worked there for two years.
It sure is........yellow😮
I’m surprised they didn’t paint the tires too when they painted it 🤣🤣
great job
I wish I could bring my wrecker over to help you out ..
When you guys said you '' REBUILT '' The GM screamer you forgot to mention that it was only a half ass rebuild not to GM specks. YOU SHOULD HAVE TRALORED IT TO A SHOP AND TAKEN IT OUT !! Great video Thanks
hi great show , is this your golf course ??
I wonder if you could have used chain binders to shorten up the length of the sling?
It actually has hooks that work pretty well. We were just in a bit of a trying spot.
that appears to be 53 or 71 series that have dry sleevs 92 series is wet sleeve
Disagree
awesome
ROPS structure is 2000lbs bare, with cab its 2300lbs..
Wow good thing we had the loader
When you start forcing engine components there always a chance you are putting unnecessary stress on other parts like valve train connecting rod or super charger .
If you have an air leak, brakes may be dragging.
Looks like you guys need to look for a crain.

Sweet, thanks!!
Good to see your wearing Irish safety boots 😅😅
Safety sandals
👍🏻
Talk to diesel creek about old loaderder. He knows a lot about older machines

The constancy of the camera movement is very disturbing. Positioning the camera for stability makes for easier viewing.
lol complain much
Ever heard of walkie talkies, saves on shouting and mis communication. 😅
My dad would still yell at me via walk-in talkie 🤣🤣
What did mechanics use before Teflon tape was invented?
Pipe dope...
Id check the clutch linkage in that loader, sometimes they have so much slop the clutch is always half on, or it could be depressed by the floor plate
probably not the cause, but its something to check
It’s a power shift!
😃
You could make a horizontal crane 🏗️ mounted to a 48” tall vertical post welded to a base with rectangular tubing that slides over the Kubota forks with large bolts that tighten down on the forks. That would increase your lifting height
If it wasn’t able to lift high enough you could have lowered the forks under the cage top and used cribbing so you wouldn’t have to lift so high
Sembra che há i pistoni storti
"Intresting" is not a word.
"Airrow" is not a word.
I guess you've never seen a Michigan dictionary.
👍👍👍

Is that Daihatsu junk? Shes cherry
Noooooo we just don’t use it in the summer we like open cabs better. Also weeds just grow really fast around there we lose a lot of machines 😅
Ok I used one at a nursery growing up and I loved it
The loader or the Mitsubishi
The mini truck
Always amazes me how you guys always go for these heavy duty machines and get them started heavy changing all that stuff and here you are wearing freakin Greek sandals I don’t get it. Your guys are asking to get your feet chopped off.🤣
They’re mandals actually
