In Dutch we have a saying in which, as a teacher, believe: You can learn (and grow, else it is lost in translation) from your mistakes/failures.
People who are affraid to fail, shall continue to fail. People who accept faillures will grow and learn and experiment until they find a way.
People who accept that they have limitations, can grow to the line of their limitations and eventually sometimes beyond. That is why almost all children ones in their lifetime burn themself a little on a hotplate for instance. Children have not yet develloped the fear for failure and experiment during playing etc. I must admit that teachers use the red pen to often. I started my carreer as a primary schoolteacher (now Math in Highschool). I sometimes in stead of the red pen wrote a motivational line, such as: Good effort, but try again in another way, with a suggestion. But I am rambeling now.
As long as you understand your fear for failure, you have nothing te fear then fear itself.
Beautiful video again Lea. And I agree completely. By the way, maybe in the far away future a small bloopervideo? I do not think there will be a flying fish in there. Grtz, Patrick

I think it is generally good advice to see failure as an opportunity to learn and improve, however I do think the perseverance part of equation must be used with discretion. Sometimes the best thing to do is walk away. Annie Duke's new book 'Quit" discusses this at length. She suggested having a "quitting coach" and having defined "kill criteria" when embarking on an endeavor. There is a place for grit but also a place for wisdom and judicious channeling of effort.

Hi Donald, thanks for sharing! I really like what you have said and also believe that sometimes it's better to just quit and fail fast instead of continue to riding a dead horse. However, nowadays, I believe that many people often quit too early and don't show (at least a bit of) perseverance. Maybe the topic of quitting is worth a completely separate video... Best, Lea

Love your videos, but, from my own experience discipline is also a major contributor to success.
While motivation is a feeling and it can fail you, if you develop discipline, it will never fail you.
Being disciplined is one of the most common traits of successful people.
    Continue the good work 😊

Hi Ricardo, indeed - certainly discipline is (in my opinion) clearly linked to perseverance, because without discipline you would not be able to keep pushing through. Thanks for your support and all the best, Lea
