@@michaelgarlickmovies I wondered the same, but it's not the real Super Yacht Captain. There is always time for doing things the right way. There is no time for rushing. If your boat has good bite, rudders are not needed at slow speed. A good feel of the levers, a good view all around and calm nerves are all you need. I wish I had a bow thruster. What an amazing tool. You can even get a bit of control with only one engine. I would like to see this maneuver with strong crosswinds, when due to the wind you don't have all the time of the world. But I guess that a certain point you will decide not to leave.
In a way, it can be easier to handle a big yacht than a small pleasure boat. No thrusters, no sky hooks, etc. My boat is on a tidal creek where I live and sometimes when there is a breeze and/or running tide, docking can be a challenge. Those times I would kill for some of those gadgets.

I've been watching the Marine Traffic site several weeks and AWOL has not moved from Genoa for quite a while. Tristan and crew seem like family after many years. Let your loyal viewers know what has been happening and any new plans, OK?
Having a 2nd stationary camera on the controls and run it as a insert in one corner would be a great asset for the viewers. Then we could see what your hands are doing that your eyes are not looking at.
Nice maneuver! I like your mention of using the fenders. A lot of people don't realize that, in addition to possibly getting injured, pushing off creates lateral movement that can move you from a straight line to your bow or stern kicking out - completely changing the angles in your head very suddenly and changing a nice calm maneuver into a more chaotic one. You don't mention that having people on the bow and stern that know what to do and when to do it is also a critical component of a maneuver like this. Your team looked like they knew exactly when to pull in or drop lines off the bow and manage the fenders and stern lines. Nice job to everyone!
Your vids are great. Many thanks. If I’ve missed it please point me in right direction, but if not could you please show us dropping two anchors for an overnight.
Great maneuvering especially since you only have a bow truster and not Both a stern and bow one in my opinion you deserve to be on a larger super yacht you can handle it no doubt
@@eulero75 haha he has said multiple times in his videos that AWOL doesn’t have a stern truster and has a bow truster and two fixed propellers only also, if you knew anything about yachts or boats that you would see just by looking at the control panel that it doesn’t

The idea of a crewmember being able to manually shift or divert a 50 ton vessel, even at very low speeds, is quite stupid and utterly impractical. That's what fenders are for, as you so rightly point out!
They don't give much dock space away, do they? I have you showing at Casamicciola Terme now. Pleased to see you made it there OK. More videos please. Stay safe.
Another great video! Do you notify the adjacent vessels of your impending departure so they can drop groundlines and reposition fenders, or are they notified by the port authority?
Hi Tristan, love your videos… because they give some real insights on life onboard a super yacht! However, each time I wonder how people really live on those yachts. With that I do not mean where they sleep and eat (that is obvious)… but for instance, where does the crew keep the wastecontainers? General waste, plastic waste, cans, glass. Surely the crew and 8-12 guests produce a lot of waste especially when being out at sea for longer periods. Next to that, I always see washing machines and dryers, but where do you put a drying rack or an ironing board once the laundry is done? Surely not on the aftdeck I presume :-). How does the crew fold bed sheets in those small spaces? I cannot see them go up to the main salon to have the space to do that kind of stuff… :-) I’m sure that there is more ‘day to day stuff’ that we all take for granted in our homes that is not that easy on board of a yacht.
Tristan, when it's that tight and you're pressing fenders. Isn't it a big risk that the fenders get tangled up in one another? And maybe damage the vessels. Edit: I wrote that question way to soon. Because you mentioned it in the video. haha

I've been watching you for a long time and can't wait to hear and see what your next chapter will be like! I do wonder how spending millions of dollars/ euros on absolutely gorgeous yachts only to have them parked a couple feet from each other feels? I equate that to building a beautiful cabin a foot from cabins on each side. If someone in the yacht on your port side sneezes, are you obligated to say "bless you!" from your yacht?
