    Very interesting Tristan. It is good to see that you involve members of AWOL's crew in your videos because a) it gives a better understanding in what they do, b) gives a chance to meet them and c) shows how complex each of the processes are and I am sure there are many in the management of a super yacht. You and the crew make it look so easy, but I guess it is a culmination of training, experience, and trust. Thank you, Tristan, great videos.

    We absolutely love these type of videos ! Thanks also FOR NOT OVERLAYING any of this vid with music. It's so much better for those of us that have done yacht charters already to be able show vids exactly like this one to noobys that have never chartered before. We watched this just now with some friends that we are trying to convince to go back to Italy with us in 2022. They say they'll most likely go - hence , you two are epic salesmen ! Lol

    Hey just wanted to mention that on the tv show "Below deck-medetrainian " they had an episode where the Captain of that ship learned the hard way that you shouldn't have crew on the back/beach deck when you tow another boat. They had the tow rope wrap around a crew member's leg and drag him into the ocean and if it hadn't been for a quick thinking member of crew, cut the line, which saved the guys life and his leg from being amputated. I hope this information helps.

    • @saltyoldseadog8257
      @saltyoldseadog8257 3 года назад +1

      I mentioned this too, Capt Mortlock replied said procedure had been modified.

    • @ondrejcizmar5649
      @ondrejcizmar5649 3 года назад +2

      There was no risk of getting the line wrapped around the leg. The line is coiled very precisely and I was always standing behind the line. So no "below deck" scenario 😉 we changed the procedure to leave just last few meters of the line to avoid possible snapback. In case the line would fail and snaped back I will be already up on the deck. On the video I was holding the line until last meter to avoid getting it in to proppeler, but after discussion with captain, the procedure has changed and I leave the platform before line get into a tension. Hope all clear now. We learning every day 😉 thanks guys ✌️

    • @saltyoldseadog8257
      @saltyoldseadog8257 3 года назад

      @@ondrejcizmar5649 It was the line getting wrapped around your hand that worried me, it happened to me in 1986, and I went for a swim in the North Sea without a life jacket in December. I know it sounds unlikely to ever happen, but it did to me and I know of many incidents where people get caught in lines being paid out. Safest option would possibly be a winch, but probably not very aesthetically pleasing on a yacht. Anyway, thanks for replying, keep up the good work.

    Thanks for the great video Captain Mortlock and Andre. When Andre is calling out the port side distance between the vessels is the distance fender to fender or fiberglass to fiberglass ? Is the amount of tow line from the Mother to Chase vessel fixed for all sea conditions ? How is the amount of tow line determined ? Length & weight of the Chase vessel ? thanks & regards, James

    • @ondrejcizmar5649

      Distance between vessels is very subjecitve, so if its from fender or fiberglass actually doesnt matter, 5 people would say different distance. We just try to guess our best and rather bitt less than more to be on a safe side 😉

    Good video, I’ve never worked in the yachting industry, just the Fishing and Merchant Navy. When paying out the chase boat towline, would it not be safer for the Deckhand to just stand clear? Rather than paying out the towline by hand. Certainly most boats and ships I’ve been on the towline is deployed with everybody staying well clear.
