You are correct. However let me point out that asking permission to do what you have a right to do doesn't make a lot of sense unless you "admit" that the city is private property. It does NOT include vandalism and/or destruction of property you don't own, breaking school rules you agreed to in order to go to that school, camping overnight, setting up barriers and/or other structures, commandeering buildings, false imprisonment, kidnapping, disruptive or disorderly behavior nor other crimes including violation of other people's rights.
But yeah, you have the right to peaceably assemble and speak freely in a time & manner that is appropriate.
When you break the law there are consequences. People with life experience know these simple things. Children with little to no life experience, do not.

But the problem with "in a time and manner which is appropriate" is that the deciding bodies of what that is all have a quite literally vested interest in Israel and a financial incentive to shut down the protests wherever they pop up. Protests should not be violent, but they should be disruptive. That is the very nature of protesting. Asking daddy for permission to protest is like asking the SS if you can escape the concentration camp. Civil disobedience is a civic duty to catalyze change in society. And besides, not being able to go to class, or clean up some broken glass, is not even remotely comparable to watching your children get their legs amputated with no anesthesia. The question of what is happening in Gaza is not a legal one. It is a human one that demands the most amount of resistance at every possible turn.

1) Not everybody has the ability to think or plan ahead. Some people are chess players, some people are checkers players and some people are tic-tac-toe players. Still other people struggle to keep their crayons within the lines. As long as there is activity and/or conflict they will not get bored.
2) Donations from terrorists & sympathizers will support their food habit. Work is not required. Only protest.
3) They have "friends" & sex partners, they don't need to see their families and if they do - they have cell phones & face-time or similar.
