For a stronger safer connection when shortening a frame it is best to do a step or z cut. Make the corners all radiuses to minimize risk of cracking then weld. It distributes the force on the joint and helps prevent it from shearing down the road
I agree with you, if you are working on a channel frame. In this case we are working on a box frame, and simply cut the factory splice away. We then shortened the frame the required amount and welded it back together. The rear section of the frame slides inside the front section. Thanks for commenting and watch for more updates.
Good question! My nephew and I are hoping to finish it together, and he lives a 1000 miles away and is still in college. So we will be lucky to get a couple chances a year to work on it.
Do you know where I could find a 81-87 (Preferably 85) k-10 swb frame?? A guy pulled out in front of me when I was driving my wife's dad's truck (who left her the truck that passed away from cancer, so yeah I feel HORRIBLE, to say the least)..... Any help or direction would be much appreciated bud..... Love the videos brother, keep em coming!!!!
I'm a brand new subscriber and I'm looking forward to watching more of your awesome videos.
Thanks Gary!
