And now he has the real thing.
Not quite yet... Hamilton still has to win a race with a broken gearbox... But he has everything in his favor...
he has the real Senna's helmet given to him by Senna's family
you dont get the comment do you?
BeMoto No it’s not the real thing it’s a replica not a race worn helmet. Do a bit of research. www.autosport.com/f1/news/130063/senna-family-clarifies-hamilton-helmet-gift
@@NegoClau He won it with 3 tyres. Does it count? He's doing his own version😅 He even beat Senna's most wins with leading the whole race record 🤩
I just don’t understand why British people don’t give so much credit to Hamilton.... if he were Brazilian he would be a hero like Airton or Pelé ....
British people don't really care about F1. Soccer is far far more important. David Beckham is a legend like Pelé.
Not all but a significant part of some people's problem is that he's not white. If he was, a large part of the opposition to him simply wouldn't be there.
@@quicktoreason2722 fair enough
It’s his personality, blm this and blm that
@@ziguigui22 wtf who said that. And btw it is called football. But yeah I know many of people here that are f1 fans.
we brazilians wished Hamilton was brazilian,he has all the spirit for that.. Thanks for the tribute that is so touching I had a little heartattack when I saw it.
Just imagine if Hamilton was Brazilian. We would have the battle of the brazilians in the 2008 brazilian Grand Prix.
PhreshFunk true, but I’ve in England for long time and I noticed that British people don’t give so much credit to Hamilton like they do for exemplo to David Beckham. Although Hamilton is much more great sport man than Beckham, would know to tell me why ? Cause neymar here is very talked on the media all the time and so would be Hamilton if he were Brazilian....
Problem is us people in Uk are more interested in football then formula one that’s why David Beckham is more famous then Lewis Hamilton in the Uk
WovenGoal I know I was living in woodgreen next to Tottenham stadium. But jenson button seemed to be more loved than Hamilton. And here in Brazil we also love football but everyone knows who is Airton Senna even the kids today. It’s like we were and are very proud to have had him as a F1 star
Giuseppe and Senna are italian names. Isn't it?
I think out of all the drivers, Hamilton is more like Senna than any of the others. You can see the similarities in their driving and their approach. I think Senna would respect Hamiltons driving if he was still here.
Hamilton is not even close!
@@90MinutenLang020Damsko hahahaha
@@90MinutenLang020Damsko That's not what Alain Prost recently said. He declared that he was extremely impressed how actual F1 drivers are professional and fast.
@@ziguigui22 the professionalism and how fast and how fit they are nowadays, impresses me too! I have got the highest respect for todays racingdrivers, but untill this day and maybe never their was or will be a driver as fast or faster than Ayrton Senna!
@@90MinutenLang020Damsko A thing that a very few people don't know is that in 1988 and 1989, when driving together with Senna in McLaren, Alain Prost made more faster "fastest lap in race" than Ayrton Senna. Each year he dominated Senna by 10 to 6.
I admire Senna, I like to watch Senna's onboard qualification tour, but he was not thaaaaatttt fast.
Prost dominated Senna on many aspects.
Hamilton is Senna fan ! and in Brazilians like Hamilton for his humility.
I am an Indian from the southernmost state of kerala..while I was at grade 6,the only name in f1 that was familiar for us was Senna.. After ever race we used to ask did Senna won.. We had limited access to TV at that time..All kids watched f1 race once in a week in a rich man's house who had a TV and we all wanted Senna to win.. Beautiful times..
Whenever Lewis talks about Senna you can see how much of a hero Ayton is to him and always has been to him. Like the other week when Lewis won his 3rd championship he was so happy he'd won the same as Ayton, you can't help but like Lewis he's the driver Britain has needed for years
Absolutely Ayrton Senna is proud of you Lewis
Senna was a complex human being and took the motor sport an impressive technical details!
"I really hope Ayrton up there is proud of me"
Goddamn that just made me cry so much.
Why?
Because he had so much PASSION like noone ever had,he had the GUTS like noone ever had and he had the SKILLS like noone ever had...even as a kid I knew all that and something always drew my attention when he was around...he was just that special.
What I like about Lewis its his way of racing, he puts his personality on it, you can put him in a random car and I'll know that it's him driving, is something really rare nowdays.
I am Brazilian who is not angry with Hamilton tribute to Senna. Hamilton made me cry with his fan statement. After Senna passed away I never watch a race.
Hamilton even said in a Top Gear interview when he heard the news of Senna's passing, he cried his eyes out for hours. And he was just a kid go-karting at that time. No way he would give up on his hero from then and it's great to see he kept Senna close to his heart for 2017.
You missed the Schumacher-Hakkinen years. They were great years too.
By the way, Baptiste is a French name.
Agreed - Hamilton reminds me of a young Senna starting out in F1. I'm a proud Hamilton fan, but Senna will aways be in my heart!
Dave
has a fellow englishman i do agree with lewis senna was the best driver i think i ever saw Donnington Park in the wet 92 or 3 i think in the wet just unbelievable skill Brazil you should be proud
Senna forever ❤❤❤
HAMILTON IS A GREAT MAN AND AWESOME DRIVER
Lewis has always been a class act.
gsahrens Ha no
He was and a realy liked him when he was at Mclarren but then something happened and he became an idiot

One of my most prized possessions is a 91 senna replica helmet. Yes i have won races wearing it which makes it even more special
Man with big heart, and clear feelings about his Idol. Those are the two big drivers in F1, with bigest hearts in the history of F1. Rest in peace, SENNA. Hamilton, You are a great man.
Hamilton ai sim nós brasileiros te amamos.
This is one of the most heartwarming things I have seen in ages.
I miss this Lewis.
I was thinking the same.
+wejhvabewjty yeah broski
me too, now he is like an evil guy
he is a wannabe now
All went to his head.
Capacete bonito demais com as cores do Brasil ficou perfeito
He is magical.
Legacy, honor & courage!
Both are icons
Thank you, Hamilton 🙏🏻🇧🇷
If Prost is such an asshole, why Senna say that he missed him when Prost retired ?? ... Both Senna and Prost do what they have to do on the track, to win. But both had a lot of respect for each other. And that the mark of a great rivalry between two great pilot
Thanks so much, Sir Lewis Hamilton!
Mano...o cara preveu o futuro
Sir?! You knew since then!!🙂
comments from future
Hamilton, I think that is cool man! I'm from Brasil, and yes, Senna was more than just a formula 1 driver to us in the late 80s and early 90s. It was like having a worldcup final every sunday in Brasil. So, go ahead, have Senna in your heart because he would have wanted that, to inspire you and bring joy. Senna knew about the secrete, and he always thought positive, so no negativity! Good luck 2012!
i think its a fantastic tribute to an even more fantastic driver and person.
even better that he paid out of his own pocket to make it happen.
I mean second in terms of wins, it goes; Schumacher 91, Prost 51, Senna 41, Vettel 34, Alonso 32 and Mansell 31, probably should have made that clear!
Prost wasn't an asshole. He was calm and collected. He had an almost textbook driving style, earning him the nickname 'the professor' So good intact that he is the third most decorated and statistically talented driver of all time. He's also a trustee in Senna's foundation
Hamilton is a great driver. I think that most of people that like F1 here in Brazil got a little proud of him. Hope he get another championship soon. I like the way he drives.
Congrats, Hamilton! Thank you for the memories!
Essa versão do Hamilton ficou linda ❤
Muito top esse capacete 👏. Senna eternamente.
I love this! Much respect.
and I love lewis Hamilton racing ,and you know why? because he is a total racer like senna was,he is that kind of driver that makes you watch f1
Do you still feel the same way 9 years later?😀
What the hell, ALAIN Prost was a great and so was Senna, show some respect! They both had good and bad points, Senna was not a saint on track, and Alain wasn't off it, but man, Prost is a living legend and second most successful F1 driver in history, show some respect.
Esse é fanzasso de Ayrton Senna Lewis Hamilton
He sure is 5 time world champ.
Hamilton Hello, I'm Brazilian, big fan of Ayrton Senna that for my country was a hero, not because he is a great driver, but by their character, perseverance and his great highlight to be the most competitive among the pilots of his time . Brilliant man, if I ever have the opportunity would be a pilot, I'm proud that you're remembering it.
I have seen Senna videos and also saw Hamilton start racing F1 since few years. I began watching F1 from Schumacher, Hakkinen, Villeneuve days, then Kimi, Alonso, but Senna stands in a different level to all, a higher one.
He would be very proud.
I am not a Hamilton fan. But the respect and admiration that he has for Senna is very honorable. I must admire Hamilton for that.
I am left alone with the creepy Senna image raising his fist?
Neither Senna or prst were "assholes" Senna was a hard opponent on the track and a feared driver Prost was aware of the politics of the formula one and always tried to have maximum success with minimum effort. that was the reason for their rivalry. ut both shared a great respect for each other and after sennas death prost became even a trustee in sennas foundation which was senna's lifedream
Lets be honest here, if Senna had taken a leaf out of Prosts book and settled for second position in the first 5 races of 1994 then the car would have been improved enough to start winning the rest of the season. Senna was Senna and this is what made him different, he raced to win period and that proved costly when the car in 1994 was not up to stratch.
If that helmet is still around with the green interior, that’ll be worth a lot!
Is amazing recognition for a hero
I'm sure he is proud of you, Lewis.
He's like a little kid showing everyone how awesome his toys are.
Parabéns ficou lindo 💓
i agree it was the media that annointed him the next senna, maybe because of the mclaren connection, the helmet, the aggressive style, but fans should know better. the media will always annoint someone the next MJ, Sampras, Gretzky, Jack, Montana, its part of the media business. the media could say that bruno is the next senna but i don't see it in his driving style. the only things thats similar with his uncle when in a car is the name, helmet color and when he has his visor up.
i don't understand the senna fans and their hate for lewis. as a senna fan as well as lewis, there is never an interview when he mentions senna name when it doesn't feel sincere. some of you forget that he was young when he saw senna race. it would be no different when kobe talks of jordan. some of you forget what it was like to be a kid and have heroes, it clearly shows how much senna meant to him and he never said he was the next senna. he honors him in his helmet color and driving style.
@lemonjellies partly but the green, red and yellow was the colours of his heritage country, grenada, if you don't know the grenadian flag, google, peace out
In a way, Aryton Senna was the Mariano Rivera of Formula 1 for 10 years (and if you don't know what I mean about Mariano Rivera google him).
Torço por você garoto! :D
F1 without Senna is boring just like boxing without Mike Tyson
That's exactly my point. No one is qualified to make the comparison between themselves and Senna, because there's no comparison to be made, no matter if your name is Hamilton, Alonso, Schumacher or Prost. There was one Ayrton Senna, and there is nor ever shall be, anyone who can be compared with him. On your 2nd point-I always feel that the best way to measure a driver's capabilities is to put him in an uncompetitive car, and see if they outperform the car on a regular basis. Nearly every...
Fast forward to 2017 and now he gets a real Senna helmet. #tribute
this isn't senna's technically that isn't senna's helmet lewis wore in that grand prix just used the design to show his passion and how much lewis respects senna, not just as a driver but as a person
That helmet is fuckin dope
wrong alonso is more similar to alain prost and in my opinion hamilton is the closest to ayrton because he's always followed his driving style since he was young
now i respect hamilton much more but im not his fan yet. i think i will never be. is the helmet with HONDA on the viisier real one or replica?
Ramon Homjak its the replica they wouldnt let him use the actual one
Senna número 1
Imagine Him Wearing This Helmet At The 2021 Brazilian GP....
1:40 He hesitates to mention if 'Senna would be proud of him'. LH is such a huge Senna fan!
Dont worry Lewis, im proud of ya
In an interview, he once DID compare himself to Senna, Alonso to Prost and Vettel to Mansell. Just an overall stupid thing to say. I play football. I'm think I'm pretty decent, but that doesn't mean I should compare myself to Maradonna or Pélé!
when you say Alain is the second most successful F1 driver, if you mean titles wise he is 3rd but if not then IDK
ayrton senna da silva was thw best ,I saw him racing,i saw Schumacher racing ,i see now Alonso and vettel but still senna was the 'godfather of f1 racing
Senna
for me he never comes across like that in interviews early or currently in his F1 career. "fia posterboy"? maybe a little in 07 in his rookie year because of his mixed race for global marketing but i don't see it. i see the FIA posterizing-hyping other current driver champions more. the TG special was to show that even 16yrs later ayrton is still relevant with the new drivers of F1. aside from being british and TG being a british show, lewis has never shied away his feelings about ayrton.
In one interview, he compared himself to Senna, Alonso to Prost (also his and Alonso's rivalry to Senna and Prost's - which is stupid...Senna and Prost were running each other off the road in their time. All he and Alonso have done, is have that incident in Hungary '07.Hardly the fierce rivalry Prost and Senna had) and Vettel to Nigel Mansell 'only not as good.' Comments like that just make me despise him.
Damn mam I'm crying.. off course he's proud of you HAM your hard work and dedication is to admire..SENNA would be proud of this formula 1 era
I think if someone was better than Senna, Senna fans would always say he is the best. But i don't see why people are angry about a driver paying respect to another driver. I would if i was in F1.
Bela inspiração...
I'm HUGE fan of Hamilton and Senna. Well Senna first as he was top driver when I was in High School. Hamilton was all but a 9 year old Karting kid when Senna died. The amount of respect and reverence Hamilton shows the memory of Senna is only equaled by Prost. WHO by the way is a Steward of the Senna Foundation.
Nem se compara, Senna corria contra qualquer um na mesma equipe.
i agree 100% but sadly he was comparing himselp to senna in one video on here :( lewis is still a great driver though
hey buddy, not all senna's fans hate Hamilton...Please don't generalize...I am a fan of Senna and Hamilton, and I'm brazilian guy...I like very much Hamilton's style and appreciate what he says about Senna, right? Peace.
A McLaren and a yellow helmet, then you know who's by the corner speeding through.
That's the key of the sport, perhaps any kind of sport. To inspire the younger generation into something worthwhile. Remember Senna, Senninha, and all the pro-active organizations they have... to inspire children and give them hope. Hamilton is in F1 and his inspiration is Senna!
Good Luck for F1 2012 Season!
Thanks so much, Lewis!!! I'm here in Brazil wait to see your next race. I'm with you. Go race and win.
Lewis is such a champ, it's really good to know that pilots of this era still have hero's, specially if we are talking about the major legend off all F1 times, Senna - Drive to Perfection
Beautiful helmet.
Not me.
Personally I hate the constant helmet colour changing by today's drivers. Back when Senna was racing you always knew who was driving, because the helmet was their signature, today, well it could be anyone driving, because, as the guy said, they have a different design just about every week. Choose 1 design and stick to it. It was good enough in the past.
It's the symptom of your lifestyle. People never are happy about what they have, they always want more more more more... That's what is destroying resources for the future generation.
@@ziguigui22 its just style bro, if someone want to change his helmet, why not🤷🏽♂️
Brasil dos brasileiros senna
A little kid, once inspired by a legend, goes on to become a 6 time world champion. Way to go Lewis! Brazilians admire you!
That's very cool Hamilton!!! great man!!
He had to buy it himself, how could they even think that Lewis would be able to afford that :O
As in custom made, not straight from arai factory.
Dear Santa
as a senna fan hes not supposed to have senna results. that helmet is a homage to senna which means it was made to respect the man who once wore a similar helmet. that has NOTHING to do with the results of hamilton it never will. anyone can make a helmet like that as a homage, and you dont need good results to honour him. its like saying that todays soldiers must kill as many as ww2 soldiers did if they want to wear homage uniforms.
I'll PM you an interview where he explicitly states he is like Senna, Alonso is like Prost, and Vettel is like Mansell. There's a big difference between being inspired by him, and dropping in subtle hints that he wants to be compared to Senna. And then of course at one point explicitly stating that as well. Senna was an inspiration for half of the grid, but you don't se anyone else drawing comparisons between the legend, and the spoilt baby of Formula one.
His original helmet was always a tribute to Senna, although he has compared himself to Ayrton in the past. The story about his first helmet being yellow so his dad could identify him on the track was a load was bs.
65 Poles. He will be.
SLR44 71 now :)
it's an AWESOME helmet!
And how exactly is their rivalry anything like Senna's and Prost? Senna and Prost got to the point where they were running each other off the road. The worst thing thats happened to these guys is the Hungary '07 incident-caused by Hamilton by the way. The point is he drew comparisons between himself and Senna, when there are none. I didn't say he thinks he's on par with Senna, because that would be ridiculous on many levels, but he draws comparisons like this nonetheless. Also, no need to swear.
Hamilton is not senna, but out of the current bunch of drivers he's the closest you can get.
