Hi, I posted a comment here over a year ago enquiring about these speakers and also the Edifier S1000DB speakers. I can now tell you that I bought the R1855DB’s. Their sound is stunning. Absolutely STUNNING. They are speakers that can do a magnificent job for a person’s whole lifetime using them as home speakers for music, TV, DVD/BluRay etc…. Fantastic speakers. Some months later I found myself in a position where, for a combination of reasons, I could buy the Edifier S1000 MK II speakers. And indeed I did buy them and put them into a different room, principally for my Sony record player. I later connected another TV and also a older BluRay player. Well, I can tell you I was completely shocked at how much clearer and more defined they reproduce sound. I can’t fault the R1855 DB’s at all. But they are not in the same league as the S1000MK II speakers which are definitely superior in sound reproduction and in looks.
Hi, I'm interested in the Edifier R1855DB speakers. I would use them for listening to music (rock and heavy metal). Although after testing the S1000 you say they are much better, would you recommend the R1855DB? Thank you very much. Greetings.
I have these. They sound excelent, way above the price you are paying. I had also Edifier S3000 pro, 4 times expensive, but listening to 1855db (quality music, Tidal hi-fi, optic connect and even bt) bring me more pleasure listening than s3000 pro. They sound so clear, natural and detailed! With this model, Edifier did it badly! :)
I bought these yesterday and noticed (unfortunately after purchasing) that it's bluetooth - although 5.0 - only supports A2DP. As far as I know, it's like having a brand new Porsche that has enough power to hit 200 MPH, but you can't press the gas pedal hard enough and it only reaches 100 MPH. I live in Brazil and here you could say it's an expensive and premium product so it's a big issue for me. Oddly, Edifier is pretty obscure when it comes to bluetooth audio codecs and overall this connectivity seems overlooked by them (not a problem if they were a little bit clearer about it, as these are superb for wired connectivity). So, if you intend to listen to 'lossless' bluetooth sound - in quotes because A2DP allegedly reaches 345kbps but in practice reaches only around 255, which for me at least makes it's bluetooth simply useless as we're talking about 1/4 of CD quality here, not enough even for 'vanilla' Spotify (320kbps) - I suggest you go look for another options. Otherwise, just plug the (included, thank you Edifier) p2 cable to your phone and enjoy better sound at the cost of moving around your house.
How will it fare if paird with tv for movies? Most ott platforms stream movies in 5.1 channel, will it play dialogues fine compared to soundbar with dedicated center channel?

I can’t remember the last time I used the Edifier remote to control the TV volume. However, if I am playing a CD or a vinyl record I will use the Edifier remote. Hi, do you have any knowledge about the Edifier S1000DB and how it compares to the Edifier R1855DB. There’s a big price difference but before I decide to buy, I’d like to be sure about the differences in sound quality, if any at all.....
Well obviously... the S1000DB is nearly audiophile grade speakers.. whereas 1855s are affordable bookshelves. The s1000s are about 120 watts as compared to 70 on the 1855s... also S1000 has titanium dome tweeters..and aluminum bass drivers...aptx codex ... and are made of solid wood!.. can't compare with 1855s 😊
@@rtechreviews : Thanks 🙏 That’s great. One final thing...... Do you have an opinion on the Edifier R2000DB versus the S1000DB. They both appear to be broadly similar but the S1000DB is still a lot more money. This🙂
Exactly the point, the S series is an upgrade in terms of tech... with better AptX codec .. titanium dome tweeters.. NFC.. solid wood etc ... R series uses MDF etc...silk dome tweeters... so if you have the monies ... I recommend the S1000s
@@rtechreviews : Thank you 🙏 again. Only yesterday I was visiting with some people and I heard their R2000DB speakers working. The bass is fantastic and the overall sound is amazing! It’s difficult to imagine how the S1000’s could actually improve upon that, just for basic home listening. The R2000’s could take my TV (optical connection), CD player (RCA cable), record turntable (RCA cable and any amount of Bluetooth enabled devices like phone, laptop, tablet. I think that the R2000’s, at almost €100 less than the S1000’s, will be perfectly sufficient for my home use.
Wow it's night and day between those two speakers. Edifier sounds so much better its not enough funny. But how much do the Creative speakers cost? That also matters.
YES! They have more Power, get louder (without distorting) Have better bass, sound warmer coz of being MDF and not plastic and also quite a bit bigger, which also reduces unwanted resonances and lets em sound fuller. Not to mention the 2 Way system with Front port, which allows to put them directly to wall and not 1 small middletonewoofer that has to do it all that also has a backport that needs room and treatment... And, while on paper the T60s go lower, the actual Bass will sound fuller and stronger with the 1855's and they let you put a sub to them, like the Edifier T5 if you want.
From the research I have done, the 1855s are warmer sounding i.e. tuned a bit towards bass whereas 1700s are brighter sounding tuned towards mids and highs.
Which one is better for music ( edm, bass, jazz ), games n movies? Connected to PC. Kinda hard to decide between R1700BTs and R1855DB. Different price only 3USD in my area. R1855DB seems nice since i can connect with digital optic.
Yeah the 1855s are nice ... But I think the 1700bts have slightly lower RMS and a simpler remote. BUT the new 1700s have AptX HD for higher quality bluetooth i.e 24 bit audio... So i would say look out for that 🙂

@@rtechreviews I am not a basshead actually, as long as it is there in a balanced way, that is neither too weak, nor too strong. I am fine with it. So, should I get these? or spend a bit more and get the R2000DB? Clarity, and details are the most important requirement. Or, should I get something else?
R2000s are a great choice too... will be better for sure... remember they are more powerful... just that these 1855s have a sub out and thr R2000 does not...
@@rtechreviews i am not a fan of too much bass. So i dont think that i would be adding a sub anyway. Also which one would you prefer for a balanced sound? 1855 with some budget sub? Or the 2000 in itself?

I also own those creative SBS 370 speakers.. Its been 18 years & i have only one word for them 'LEGENDARY' 🙌. I bought them for INR 2k back then 😀 Now I was mulling over the thought of buying a pair of R1280dbs (overpriced at 12k right now) when today I saw your video & just wanted to ask you how you secured a good deal of 13K on these 1855db speakers just 2 months ago??
Hello bro, I have a Polk surround 3000 sound bar connected to tv, and after 10 years it got damaged and giving cracking sound, now looking to buy 1855. Can I connect 1855 to TV? My requirement would be clear voice on movie watching. With subtle base. Please suggest.
Of course you can connect it to a TV... remember to use an optical or a coaxial input... for better sound quality... also the 1855 can be directly connected to a subwoofer in case you have one.
I can say the bass was a lot better sounding on these 1855s... those creative speakers have much smaller tweeters making it seem like more bass was coming off of it :)
Just gotten the r1850 since my country doesn’t have this new one, glad to hear it’s just Bluetooth(which I don’t use) and new remote(not useful as I plug it to PC) without any audio difference. Bass seems okay but still same at 60hz Low, gonna hook up to my old Corsair SP2500 active subs! It’d be perfect!
@@rtechreviews I just tested it with and without a sub, tbh for PC near field playing, a sub is overkill! For movies I watched midway during gunshots is when you might need a sub, gunshots will be lower, I find pushing the bass on the speaker rear itself to max will do the job. Adding a sub will have headache after some listening 😅, for music playing a sub is not needed
Well I think traditionally the R1850 were a bit better sounding than the 1280s ... so the 1855 should be a tad better ... also remember the price... the 1855s have subwoofer out and slightly bigger tweeters ... and more RMS.
@@rtechreviews Thank you for the suggestion bro😇 Actually 😅 I confused in the new model of 1280db that is 'R1280dbS' (Available in flipkart). It has also the sub woofer out and a little higher price than the 1280db old model and it has all the same specs of 1855dp model.
Yeah...😊 it may seem like that... 1280dbs offers additional is the sub out... but RMS is much lower on the 1280s smaller tweeters etc... also the most important... 1855 are bi amp... meaning tweeters n woofers are independently connected to the amp... there is a separate connector. The 1280 series uses parallel connections like ordinary speakers.
The 1855s are slightly more powerful, have a sub out and sound wise, quite similar... if you like bass 1855s will be the one to choose.... 1700s are brighter sounding.
1855s are bi amped... meaning 2 signals are sent separately to tweeter and woofer. The 1855s also have subwoofer output. Essentially these are better than the 1280s. Sound wise 1855s are deeper and sound richer.
@@rtechreviews as i wont be adding sub , 2000 seems like good option , also many subs like t5 doesn't need a specific sub out ie rca out would do the job . So how is your experience with these speakers?

I think for the marginal difference your better off with the 1855s... both are beautiful speakers... the 1700BTS lacks digital and Coaxial inputs... and a slightly smaller amp at about 66Watts RMS. Whereas 1855s are fully loaded! Both digital and coaxial inputs and 70 Watts RMS...

It's a digital dial... volume remains at what was left while turning off
@@rtechreviews Thank you, that was very important for me.
@@rtechreviews from other source i got info they got volume at about 20% volume level after every time turned on... ;(
@@xayroMS just received these speakers, they do reset to 20% (if turned of in range 0-20%), in range 20-80% they should remain exactly where you let them, in range above 80% they reset to 80%. Confirmed by Edifier support.
@@gabrielpv5510 Thanks. I already bought R1700BTs + T5 and work really well.
what s the difference between these and the 1850?
Bluetooth n remote
@@rtechreviews thank you
08:20 My guy, thats for the volume lmao
Yes yes 😆
Bro please do a review of r1280dbs ....it would be really helpful 🤝... There are many speaker reviewers on youtube bt ....they don't give these type of crystal clear review....so if you do it ....it would be helpful 👍
Sure Shamil, I'll have to check with the manufacturer 😊
@@rtechreviews thanks bro👍🤝.... Do speaker contents consistently.... You have a future in this category....👍 ...best wishes ❤️
Thank you 😊
It's not INR1300 but 13000+
When it comes to speakers under 15000 are these the best? My only requirement is clarity snd enjoyable music.
These are indeed good.... but they are just 4 inch drivers ... Bass may be slightly lower ... use a sub and you'll be plenty happy 😊
I think if your not into bass just go for the r2000s... they should be good enough...long term... with the 1855s .. you may enjoy it in a small room...
That old Creative System is pure Torture, its like comparing a Kitchenradio to a affordable HiFi Setup.
I'm listening over an Creative Soundblaster AE-7 and Beyerdynamic DT990Pro and i thought something with my Headphones went off...then i ralized it was the old Creative System playing...
😅
What if compared to edifier mr4?
These 1855s are bi-amped so 2 channels are separate for the tweeters n woofers... Plus more amps n inputs ... Mr4s look pretty basic wrt stats...
@@rtechreviews so you would recommend 1885? It's a bit more expensive in my country
R1855DB R2000DB
which one is better?
R2000s are more powerful with bigger speaker drivers... but the 1855s are newer and have a sub out
@@rtechreviews so which one do you recommend?
I also own those creative SBS 370 speakers.. Its been 18 years & i have only one word for them 'LEGENDARY' 🙌. I bought them for INR 2k back then 😀
Now I was mulling over the thought of buying a pair of R1280dbs (overpriced at 12k right now) when today I saw your video & just wanted to ask you how you secured a good deal of 13K on these 1855db speakers just 2 months ago??
Yes... these creative speakers truly are legendary! As for the R1855s It was a limited offer on Amazon 😍 just took them right away.
its for 11k on flipkart just bought them today and waiting for them
@@Fiend_Star How are they?
Hello bro, I have a Polk surround 3000 sound bar connected to tv, and after 10 years it got damaged and giving cracking sound, now looking to buy 1855. Can I connect 1855 to TV? My requirement would be clear voice on movie watching. With subtle base. Please suggest.
Of course you can connect it to a TV... remember to use an optical or a coaxial input... for better sound quality... also the 1855 can be directly connected to a subwoofer in case you have one.
@@rtechreviews Thanks bro, are bookshelf speakers are better than soundbars or will it be in same level performance?
is SBS 370 bass is good or this one R1855DB ?
I can say the bass was a lot better sounding on these 1855s... those creative speakers have much smaller tweeters making it seem like more bass was coming off of it :)
Just gotten the r1850 since my country doesn’t have this new one, glad to hear it’s just Bluetooth(which I don’t use) and new remote(not useful as I plug it to PC) without any audio difference. Bass seems okay but still same at 60hz Low, gonna hook up to my old Corsair SP2500 active subs! It’d be perfect!
Yes! Adding a sub will take these to the next level 😊 ... please do subscribe thank you
@@rtechreviews I just tested it with and without a sub, tbh for PC near field playing, a sub is overkill! For movies I watched midway during gunshots is when you might need a sub, gunshots will be lower, I find pushing the bass on the speaker rear itself to max will do the job. Adding a sub will have headache after some listening 😅, for music playing a sub is not needed
Yes did you see my video of with and without sub?
which is better 1855db or 1280dbs??
Well I think traditionally the R1850 were a bit better sounding than the 1280s ... so the 1855 should be a tad better ... also remember the price... the 1855s have subwoofer out and slightly bigger tweeters ... and more RMS.
@@rtechreviews Thank you for the suggestion bro😇
Actually 😅 I confused in the new model of 1280db that is 'R1280dbS' (Available in flipkart).
@@rtechreviews Thank you 😇
It helped me a lot...
Just ordered the 1855db in Amazon.
How much watts in rms??
70 Watts RMS
How do these compair to the 1700?
The 1855s are slightly more powerful, have a sub out and sound wise, quite similar... if you like bass 1855s will be the one to choose.... 1700s are brighter sounding.
@@rtechreviews and what about the r2000db
The 2000s are bigger so obviously a lot more power.. better bass ... but I think it skips the sub out...
@@rtechreviews thank you for the info
@@rtechreviews i picked the speakers in this video for my tv and i bough a set of q acoustic 3030i for my pc set up
Sir good afternoon
What is the different edifier r1855 between r1280 dbs for music listening . Please give me suggest each one
1855s are bi amped... meaning 2 signals are sent separately to tweeter and woofer. The 1855s also have subwoofer output. Essentially these are better than the 1280s. Sound wise 1855s are deeper and sound richer.
Thank you sir
R1700BTs model is better sound quality compare to R18855db model for listening song.
R1855 or 2000 ?
Honestly.. the 2000s are a bit superior... as they have bigger drivers more RMS and ofcourse more expensive too.. but they don't have a Sub Out... 😊
@@rtechreviews as i wont be adding sub , 2000 seems like good option , also many subs like t5 doesn't need a specific sub out ie rca out would do the job .
So how is your experience with these speakers?
It's decent... for a small room the setup is fine 🙂
It seems Creative still sounds better 🤔
Ahh... that subwoofer... but everything else is better on the 1855s
how much did amazon/edifier pay you for this
I wish! I bought it with my monies... I'm not that big of a channel to get such freebies yet
@@rtechreviews I am hesitant to buy these because they're a chinese company. But price and performance seems good...
Exactly... they are Chinese but relatively cheaper and better than the competition
R1850DB vs R1855DB the difference in sound?
Honestly I did not find any differences...1855s are updated to bluetooth 5.0 and a new remote.
You are wrong, how can you say that R18855db has Blutooth 5.0, is it posible in CSR 8635 chipset. Pls tear down and verify the CSR version.
@@SATISHKUMAR-go1kd How can you be wrong when the Company website claims its got Bluetooth 5.0? www.edifier.online/products/edifier-r1855db-active-bluetooth-bookshelf-speaker-set-matte-black please check and then claim facts....
1855 vs 1700bts ?
I think for the marginal difference your better off with the 1855s... both are beautiful speakers... the 1700BTS lacks digital and Coaxial inputs... and a slightly smaller amp at about 66Watts RMS. Whereas 1855s are fully loaded! Both digital and coaxial inputs and 70 Watts RMS...
