I use stainless steel dog buckets, the 1 quart size. You can pick them up for 3.50$ on any good dog show website. You can put a nice label on there and presto, no leaks, no issues and you have a cute dog bucket after the candle is done burning. With stainless steel it cleans up well after your done with the candle. (Yes, I used to show dogs and learned about them through dog showing)
Hi Jeff. What's the link to the video that shows how to seal the seam tin. I already got the seam tins before seeing this video 😔 I can relate to everything you said about it coz each time I pour in my melted wax, half of the wax always pour out. I actually thought it's from the production company, I thought it wasn't properly crafted and what I do to make sure I get my wax leveled to the point I want is this; I always have a metal plate-like placed under my tin then after I pour the first round of melted wax in the tin to the level I actually wanted I'd leave it till the following day then re-melt the ones that leaked on the plate placed under the tin and once it's fully melted, I pour it in the tin again I.E the already cured wax
Thanks Jeff, GREAT VIDEO. I admit I recently took tins off of the many options I offer, simply for the fact that I need to do some additional research. I use tins from CS, and I noticed if I have a bunch pre-made and sitting on my shelf (not for very long) they seem to rust around the top. I did notice that this seems to be possibly isolated to citrus type FO's for example lemon and lavender. I also have a Christmas Tree scent. So it's not every one that rusts, but it's enough of a percentage of my scents to stop because I do want an excellent product for my customers. Ever heard of this? Is there anything to do to counteract this? Thanks!
I came to this video to figure this out. Did you find a solution to the rusting? I was thinking of a spray but not sure what has or has not worked for others. I don't want to use something that might peel off in a candle either.
Appreciated this review, thanks for your expertise. Question. You mentioned wax melts in a tin. I have a few sitting idle in the box, 8 oz silver, flat bottom which I really didn't want to use for a soy candle. How many clam shell melts do you suggest to place in the 8 oz. tin. TIA...
Hi Jeff. I’m using 4oz tins from CS and tested HTP 73 and 62. I find the 73 is too hot by 3-4 hr burn but has a better HT then 62. What wick sz would you recommend?
I just made a bunch of soy candles from old tin cans. I don't know what to do next to make them safe. I thought I just decoupage or decorate them. How would you recommend I make the ones I've made safe? I saw a video where someone used air dry or polymer clay all around it on outside. Help! Blessings from Indiana
Hello Where do I get tins that can get customized with my name brand and logo? I’ve seen a few websites with nice tins but don’t offer customization. Thanks!
@@StandleyHandcrafted You have stated before that you add you fragrance oils at 115, but do you heat wax to 185 first and then let it cool to 115 before adding?
Hello, there are those who write that some additional substances should be put into it to make paraffin candles. (Like stearin) Is this necessary for the candle we will pour into the jar? What percentage of fragrance should we put in? Does soy wax or paraffin give more fragrance to the prepared candle?
I am new to candle making and I am having trouble with the wax melting completely to the bottom . I am using an 8oz round tin with double wick, 1 wick is not enough for the right pool but 2 almost seems too much! Do you reccomend using a smaller wick? Or could it be the wax ?
Hi Jeff! As always, thanks again for uploading informative content for us!! Question: I’m having a hard time getting a strong HT from my candles. I’ve purchased your ebook and your method has helped me with the sinkholes and the scent has improved. However, I can still only smell it in one room and can only smell it while it’s burning. Any advice on increasing my HT? I’m using IGI-6006, 10oz with 1oz of fragrance. Melting to 185, adding FO and 175 and pouring at 170 into the ball crystal glass with wicks from a local candle supply. I’ve ordered more wax and a wick sampler kit to see if that helps. I have no idea what else to do lol. Thanks in advance!!☺️
Should these tins burn completely (no leftover wax)? I have been wick testing 6oz tins and i am finding the melt pool is perfect, good HT, but the tin doesn't burn down to empty. There is about 1/4 - 1/2 inch of wax left over but the wick is burned completely out.
I have a few old honey bottles bought from the store. I made candles in it and the bottle cracked. I know it did because of heat, but so many people make candles in glass jars, could someone please tell me what I did wrong? I think the jar cracked when the wick touched the jar..
You didn't list any tins that you would recommend....I'm trying to find good ones on Amazon, and its really hard to find! Please send us a link of seamless tins for candles please and thank you handsome 💖
How do you figure out the shipping on candles I am in the line of selling 2 or 4 oz candles. I saw your video on pricing and was looking for the video on shipping fee.
Any experience with tins rusting after you pour a candle in them? I made a few lavender candles, and the entire rim of the tin where the soy wax touches turned to rust, and turned the wax orange when burning! Any insight into this?
Most vendors put a coating on it to prevent that. Candle science, Aztec and flaming candle. It will still happen with colors that contain alot of vanilla. Especially as it gets older

I put my candles on a silicone potholder to insulate it and keep it from sliding around.

You can coat the inside with a even layer of mod podge(the glue) it stops the tin from rusting
Most vendors put a coating on it to prevent that. Candle science, Aztec and flaming candle. It will still happen with colors that contain alot of vanilla. Especially as it gets older
There are other fragrance oils that make them rust too.
Wanting to use these for wax melts. Anyone got tips on them not melting/sticking together?
Подскажите, пожалуйста, где можно приобрести такие баночки для свечей?

I’ve looked at getting some for a while but have not tested them myself. I know others that use them and they’re great, no seams.

I set a candle tin on fire
Like i was experimenting (well i was just Messing around) i snapped a chopstick in half and put the 2 pieces elevated above a lot candle

Then i spilled the was
Scraped it off when it cooled and put the candle tin above the fire again then i added the was i spilled back in to basicly undo me spilling and this time instead of trying to move the candle with the molten wax away from the flame i just blew out the candle and let it cool
All normal
Then i took a empty candle tin and place it upside down
It started smoking so i moved it away from the flame
It fliped and it was on fire
Then i did it again outside this time
And it started smoking again but when i fliped it it wasnt on fire so u did it again and left it above the fire longer and this time i didnt even flip it it just catched on fire
It burned out like 10 seconds later and the underside didnt catch on fire
I dont think this could happen normaly sience it was in direct contact with fire and it was trapping the heat but if this does just happen sience it doesnt spread i dont think its a fire hazzard
