The original movie musical did not do well with the critics or at the box office but over the years the story of this magical car has over and over again showed its strength. The Sherman Brothers would be so proud of the sleek production. It looks wonderful.
The original musical did do very well in London and was critically acclaimed it ran for 3.5 years the longest run of any musical at the Palladium with a gross takings of £70 million plus in that time i would say the was very well. Might not have gone as well in the USA though
The film was in the top ten money makers of 1969 though. It didn't become another SOUND OF MUSIC though, like they'd hoped, but it did make a profit :)
I was talking about the movie. Big screen musicals of the 60s had a brief few moments in the sun and then they were seen as passé. The stage show in New York was good but it was not as big a block buster as in London.
I love the fact they let Chitty take a bow too! As a long time fan, they made my day! ❤
Loved this show the best
Especially the Bulgarians
I can't wait to see this in my hometown!! My favourite musical, Chitty looks amazing!
Just watching the curtain call makes me want to see the entire production!
@@clrobertson13 you should when it’s back on tour x
I want to see this musical. Give it to me NOW!!!
