This is interesting because my father made half of Truly's car! The engine and chassis were built to Dads own original design and Russels water is where the car must have been so that Dads chassis is the part that falls in the water!

Thanks for posting this. Never realised about the Kempton Park Waterworks until seeing this, and I used to live only a mile down the road at Hanworth!! Chitty is part of my family's history as we were the nearest house, or to be exact bungalow, to the windmill. My mother used to wheel me down to the windmill everyday in my pram to watch the filming in progress of Chitty!

I was born in High Wycombe and lived there until I was almost 7. I still remember the outings to Fingest, Turville, and Turville Heath almost 60 years ago. The Chilterns are a lovely part of England. On occasion, have returned for a nice walk and then a pint at the Bull & Butcher. Since then we’ve been in Canada and am currently breathing in smoke from forest fires.

Man In The Wilderness ; I just read a trivia comment regarding that very fact. It seems the producers wanted Dick VanDyke for the part, but he only agreed if he didn't have to use the English accent. He caught a little criticism for his 'Cockney' accent in the Mary Poppin's film a few years earlier. I also read the producers wanted Julie Andrews, aka Mary Poppin's for the part of Truly Scrumptious, but she had a current engagement and wasn't able to do it.

Well done Vincent, excellent job. Thank you for identify the locations. I guess it was your curiosity that led to this being made, wanting to either confirm the locations or help preserve the accuracy of where scenes were shot. I have a similar interest in helping preserve the accuracy of what films/TV programmes were shot at Brunel University along (my place of employment) as well as when and with which actors - and thus avoiding errors. For me the location curiosity started when I worked on A Clockwork Orange - but that's another story. Well done mate.

, that song after a while is a bit much, only thing I would change is play something else in the middle, " toot sweets" begin and end with the chitty song,. Other wise it was very cool to see so much of it has survived more then 50 years, I like places like that. Very nice ...

I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I'd be quite happy to show you the locations if you wish? Best wait for next year as it ideally needs to be a sunny day.

Well done Vince Cox. Your video inspired me so much I went to Russell’s Water two days ago. 26/7/2021. I also went too see Cobstone Mill which is hard to. See close up as there is a high gate in front of it on the main road and cctv. If you go a little further along you can see it a bit more by looking over the fence. You can also see it on the top of the hill from Turville village. Thank you for the memories. 👍🏻❤️

Very nice tribute to a beautifully made film. I especially like the scene where he sings hushabye mountain to the children in their bedroom which is shot with a continuously tracking single camera which goes right around the room and back again.

We have a guy who works with us and we call him the child catcher (not for that reason). He looks the spit of him, but he's a lovely fella. God bless you Ian.
