An evening of soundscapes produced by Jack Straw Artist Support Program artists So’le Celestial, Gregg Dietzman, and Perri Lynch Howard.
Gregg Dietzman shared his project Sound and Light Signals.
Perri Lynch Howard shared from her project Svalbard Speaks, which unveils the hidden melodies of the Arctic. As climate change reshapes our planet, the soundscapes of even the most remote regions are evolving. Svalbard Speaks immerses you in the haunting beauty and fragility of these sonic ecosystems through soundscapes and spoken word.
So’le Celestial shared their soundtrack titled Numa’lo - meaning “revive, do again, return” in Fina’ CHamoru (the CHamoru language). This soundtrack explores So’le's journey as a Trans & Queer, CHamoru, chronically ill, and disabled person. “Numa’lo” audibly illustrates So’le’s inner soul’s movements through life, love, grief, and death.
