    Love your honesty on costs. And real life affordability. I follow a shit tonne of youtube peeps. And no one ever explains the cost.. as a hard working tradesman. I really appreciate your explaining the cost. As its my biggest concern traveling AUS.. FYI subscribed

      0088tjw thank you, that’s the exact reason I made the video, and the reason holding me back not knowing how much it would cost , all the best 👍

    Love the honesty about bringing too much, it's so easy to overload for no reason. First time I went I brought way more than I needed and it just took up room and bounced around. Such a great trip though!

    I always wondered what the rough figure for a trip to the Cape would cost. Now I know. Thanks for the video mate, really helpful. Maybe one day when I have saved enough money and convinced a couple of my mates to go along, I will be there. I haven't got big enough balls to do that trip alone.

      Yeah I was nervous too, but just gotta go , you won’t regret it 👍

    Good video 👍 just an add on for those who haven’t done the cape, place your vehical up on ramps prior to leaving & tighten every bolt you can reach ! Do the same at the tip, prior to return travel, you will thank yourself for doing it ,! 👍😎 another tip ok & a good one,clean all door rubbers, and before deep water crossings smear lightly on your seals, Dubbin, as you don’t want to use grease as you may forget about removing it and will cause the rubber to perish, never use an alcohol based products, believe me ! It works great 😎👍

    Hello i would like some info please do you have diff and gearbox breathers. snorkel do you think it's woreth spending the money on a winch i have a std 2014 hilux dual cab. than you i found it very useful we're supposed to be going next september

    • @4x4touringviewsreviews45
      @4x4touringviewsreviews45  6 лет назад +2

      ted bower hi there ted, if you’re traveling just up the development to the tip, you can probably get away without those items, if you’re going to be doing some exploring and doing the old telegraph track, I would definitely recommend breathers and a snorkel as some of the crossings were very deep with water depth well over the bonnet, as far as a winch I only used it once at palm creek crossing on the old telegraph track , which can be bypassed or if you’re going with mates with a winch you’ll be fine cheers and enjoy 👍

    • @4x4touringviewsreviews45
      @4x4touringviewsreviews45  6 лет назад

      PROCHECK Automotive g’day mate cheers, all my group had diesel and there was no problem with availability, I only saw 1 petrol gu patrol which had about 8 jerry cans on the roof, you may have to just check the availability for petrol 👍

    • @procheckautomotivemechanic4551
      @procheckautomotivemechanic4551 6 лет назад +1

      4x4 Touring Views & Reviews only 8 hahaha, yeah I am trying to look at what the availability of petrol is like. I’ve got an old V6 Hilux. Might have to convince the wife we need a new car haha

    • @4x4touringviewsreviews45

    What's is the longest distance between fuel stations ?

    • @4x4touringviewsreviews45
      @4x4touringviewsreviews45  6 лет назад

      Chainsawversustree the longest distance is around 200-250kms roughly from what we read, my mate had a range of around 400km in his troopy and never had an issue, me and my other mate both had long range tanks so never really paid attention, but both carried a jerry incase, and a lot were diesel only👍

    Did you find it hard to find decent camp sites that weren’t over crowded?

    • @4x4touringviewsreviews45
      @4x4touringviewsreviews45  6 лет назад +1

      GJWalker Walker not at all, we went in June before the school holidays, we had most campsites to ourselves or just a few people, the only place we booked was for punsand bay as it can get busy, for the rest of the trip we just rocked up anywhere and there was always a spot cheers

    I have a 2016 GXL Prado with 84k, running on BFG K2,s, UHF, dual battery and no other no mods. Do you think it is good to make the trip following your route?
    Cheers

    • @4x4touringviewsreviews45
      @4x4touringviewsreviews45  6 лет назад +1

      Absolutely you can , probably suspension upgrade sure would help with the corrugations, but if sticking to the main routes, you will be fine. We passed people in Hyundai excels and subaru wagons, just take your time and enjoy 👍
