2:59 This is a reference to an old Polish legend from the 10th century: A German knight wanted to marry the Polish princess Wanda, but she did not want to. Then he threatened that if she did not agree, he would declare war and burn Polish villages. Wanda, given the choice between an unwanted marriage or war, chose suicide - she jumped into the Wisła (Vistula), the main river in Poland.
13 posterunek oryginalny was aired 1997 to 1998, so it's old, and often humor there is like jokes: "look at him man dressed as woman, haha" and played on all kinds of stereotypes; you can love it or hate it and nothing in between; and of course by today standards is very offensive and triggering for all snowflakes xD
"13 posterunek" was one of the first typical Polish sitcoms. The humor in it, how to say it, was not too sophisticated, even juvenile, but when you were 10-12 years old it was a pleasure to watch. And above all, Mrs. Kasia played by Aleksandra Woźniak and her wonderful legs were one of the first crushes for young boys :)
I think that a big power of "13th posterunek" was that mix of inteligent jokes in a simple form, so it was funny for regular labor people and for educated people as well, for young and for adults. Cezary Pazura made a great job, he took inspirstion from John Cleese that is visable, and many roles he played in this show have some references to a high culture masterpieces. For example when he parodied Hitler he imitated real facial expression of Hitler, but the same time he flirted with Charle Chaplin. It was so cool and clever. As a child I lought just from a funny guy on a screen, now I can understand how clever it was.
"13 Precinct" is a sitcom from 1997. Back then there wasn't this curveball of "political correctness". There, everything and everyone was ridiculed. Today these jokes would not pass through the "mental censorship".
The first scene is also a word play. Odszczepieniec means someone who is no longer associated with certain tradition, ideology but Szczepić means vaccinating, it kinda lost it's meaning in english and there was no explenation in the video so I'm just saying it as a fun fact.
Yes, the 13 posterunek is one of the best. I was watching it as a child😅 the other one I was obsessed with was Allo Allo (the british one), such a great sense of humour 😂😂😂
Zawisza Czarny (Zawisza the Black) was a famous polish knight who fought against the Teutonic order during the Battle of Grunwald (the largest medieval battle in Europe) between the Teutonic Order and Poland (king Władysław Jagiełło in charge) with a support of Lithuanians (prince Witold in charge of the Lithuanians)
This sitcom is one of the best comedies from the late 90's, one that doesn't get old at all. If you want to see more good comedy with Cezary Pazura, then I recommend a movie "Kiler" (not a spelling mistake, there is just one "l") and its sequel "Kiler-ów 2-óch" ("2 Kilers") - an ordinary taxi driver Jerzy (George) Kiler is suddenly arrested as infamous assassin that goes by the nickname 'Killer'. Everyone thinks he is the Killler. Police is after him, mobsters are after him, and he just tries to get through all this mess without getting killed in the process.
Cezary Pazura is sometimes called a Polish Jim Carrey. Translations is not flawless. From the start Cezary said "Jesteśmy otwarci na odszczepieńców", which was translate to "We are open to differen..." oh noo noooo. Word "odszczepieniec" is very... pejorative. I dont think there is good word for that in english but better than that would be "weirdo" "we are open to any weirdos" oooh or deviants. We are open to any deviants. That would sound similiar in meaning. The vaccine part was a word play. Becose "get vaccinated" in pl is "szczepić" which sound similiar to this "od-szczepieniec" part. "Hes speaking barbed wire" was insult toward germans. He(this german) even took out typical WWII german weapon.
Well, Pazura was also good in more dark/criminal productions. Especially with Bogusław Linda in cast, who is also know as "most badass character" in Poland. "Psy" series or "Sara" are my favourite childhood "bad" movies, first time i watched "Psy" was stealing uncles VHS with my older brother, when parents was out for a night. Good ol' 90's. Cheers.
This is brillant parady of nowadays tolerance and racist accusations, when you could be called racist for using a popular songs or using some common words. Like he trying to avoid being called racist and singing few famous Polish song about colours. For example some cosmetic brands not using description like light or pale completion to not offend non white peoples but the when you use world black or dark in some description you also could offend some people of colour, so basically there is no way of being correct. I have seen a video when black women commented on the country name Montenegro, saying that they name they country to mock black peoples.
13 posterunek is wonderful show bc there is no political politeness, every aspects of Polish humour, complaints of Poles on every subject, problems and hopes are shown here . the show is brilliant bc of the scenario and the cast that was enoying themselves immensely while working on the show. Worth watching!
Czarek's character concept (played by Cezary Pazura) was that when he got nervous, he would do exactly what he shouldn't. In this case, he got nervous and shouldn't talk about colors, race, or behave like a racist, so... that's exactly what he did. There was once an episode with a bishop in which he was supposed to refrain from making any remarks about sex, so when the bishop arrived, he couldn't resist making sexual references.
I'm from Poland 🇵🇱 "13 Posterunek" it was my best comedy movie as a child 😍 Maybe you'll check out the comedy film "Świat według Kiepskich" now? I like watching you 😊 Thanks to this, he learns English ❤ Greetings from England 🏴 ❤😊❤

Tbh, it's excellent content. But on the other hand, I have collleague at work that spent 11 years in Scotland and she says that Scottish English is SO weird and hard to understand when someone meets this language for the first time. Could you make a video from native classic movie :D ? I'm curious about your native puns :D Greetings from Poland Ps. You've got a new subscriber
Fun fact The Cezary Cezary role (played by Cezary Pazura) is baised on "Fawlty towers" main character played by John Marwood Cleese so they take his attitude to "going too far with a mistake" like in a scene when the Gremans were guests. So it' doesn't come to me as a suprise that, British likes comedy sit-come based on British comedy.
13 posterunek means 13 Police Station. And it referred to number 13 being considered as unlucky in Poland hence why everything always goes wrong in there. And police being often a target of jokes. So there, now you know why 13 station.
One of polish jokes about police: How many police officers do you need to change a lightbulb? Two one to hold a lightbulb up and the other one to turn the stool around it’s axis. 😂😂😂
Thank you for your video. It's really fun to watch them. There are many Polish comedies that are hard to translate in other languages, but I'm glad you are able to find some. Have you seen Hitler from "13 posterunek"? It's also very funny. I recomend the series like "Świat według Kiepskich" or "Ranczo". If you find some with English subtitles, I'd like to see your reactions to them. There are also some Polish movies with English subs on RUclips like "Chłopaki nie płaczą" or "Dzień świra", if you'd like to watch it.
@mertpol Most of those jokes are not translatable to English. For example, they use a double meaning of some Polish words, or they use some cliches and stereotypes specific to Poland...
That clip is really hard to translate. Difficulty is due to many cultural ref, polish values and norms references on top of play - words but the essence is there 😂
13 posterunek (translation from Polish: 13th Precinct) 1997-2000 is a Polish sitcom series directed and scripted by Maciej Ślesicki, starring Cezary Pazura and Marek Perepeczko. The whole series is made of eighty-three episodes and divided into two seasons of which the first is made of 41 and the second - named 13 posterunek 2 - of 42 episodes. Wisła is the longest river in Poland and the ninth-longest river in Europe, at 1,047 kilometres in length. Its drainage basin, extending into three other countries apart from Poland, covers 193,960 km2 (74,890 sq mi), of which 168,868 km2 (65,200 sq mi) is in Poland.[3] The Vistula rises at Barania Góra in the south of Poland, 1,220 meters above sea level in the Silesian Beskids (western part of Carpathian Mountains), where it begins with the Little White Vistula (Biała Wisełka) and the Black Little Vistula (Czarna Wisełka). It flows through Poland's largest cities, including Kraków, Sandomierz, Warsaw, Płock, Włocławek, Toruń, Bydgoszcz, Świecie, Grudziądz, Tczew and Gdańsk. It empties into the Vistula Lagoon (Zalew Wiślany) or directly into the Gdańsk Bay of the Baltic Sea with a delta of six main branches (Leniwka, Przekop, Śmiała Wisła, Martwa Wisła, Nogat and Szkarpawa). The river has many associations with Polish culture, history and national identity. It is Poland's most important waterway and natural symbol, and the phrase "Country upon Vistula" (Polish: kraj nad Wisłą) can be synonymous with Poland.
In the late 90's when they broadcasted 13 Poaterunek as one of the the first sitcoms on Polish TV I didn't like it at all. I thought it was stupid and messing in peoples brains. By the way, Kiepscy were the worst. Nowadays, when we are fored to watch so many stupid content I used to this a bit and watching random episode may call it funny, Cezary Pazura's best role for me is in Kiler and Kiler-ów 2-óch. I think the film as well as the music with fantastic songs of Elektryczne Gitary are amazing! I watched both parts many times and listened to the songs from my tape over and over :-)
You should try "Nic śmiesznego" movie drama with Cezary Pazura it's excellent. I has doube layouts on the top it's super amusing but at the bottom it's also very sad.
