He is a world-class ballet dancer, but during Covid sang on American Idol his name is Skyler Maxey-Wert. We had a dilemma similar to yours when he was a little boy dancer, trying to find people to talk to. His own. Age was difficult until he left home at 13 to study with American ballet theater in NYC. We were happy to see a line of clothing started called BOYS DANCE TOO” a little late for our needs because he was older by then, but on all his little boy birthdays, he would get money and we would go to the store to buy dancewear and everything was pink and sequined and we usually came home empty-handed but now there’s diversity out there just like you are finding and giving voice to boys going through a similar circumstance I can’t wait to share all your videos with my son who is in Germany. He will love your story and sound.!!! Thank you, thank you!

Looks like I have a new Cormac video to watch a dozen times at least.
Mr Thompson, you are a glowing example of the value of being trained as a chorister. Most people think that boys (and girls today) just turn up on Sundays and sing at church. You and I (and four of my grandsons and two of my sons) know this to be a fallacy. You are transitioning into your mature voice so comparitively effortlessly, chiefly because you learned at 8 or 9 how to use your voice, just as we learn to use any other instrument well. Congrats. Just don't be overly ambitious yet and keep yourself within a more modest range for now. ❤
hello thank you and yes there's definitely just a bit more to it than that 🤗 need to give credit to my singing teachers as well for the training like most choristers i think there's extra lessons when it's just us and not the choir too i know there definitely was for me. something though that is very important to me is boys voices i'm not sure if you have seen that I have done a podcast about it it's on my youtube channel too i even have guests 😊😊 one of them is professor martin ashley a voice change expert who's written books about it - it's called One Boy Two Voices, this is the intro 🙏 ruclips.net/video/_S3t65IS18Q/видео.htmlsi=_bEma1KNYOC2B3k8

I shouldn't be surprised if some of my treble-voiced grandsons, or my former Winchester chorister son do similarly, as I've forwarded to them this link also. Indeed, your observation that a good voice coach helps make a fine voice into a great singer is entirely apposite. In both my son's and my cases, this was part and parcel of being pupils at schools designed specifically for choristers - Abbey boys in my case, and Winchester choristers and quiristers in my son's. This coaching is a vital necessity when one is aged 8 to 13 and singing in a professional setting 6-10 times a week at times. The lowliest decani probationer is as important as the cantore head chorister in fusing ensemble as your voice coaches must have drilled into you until your eyes rolled 🙄. Btw, look to the voice of teen star Grégory Lemarchal, a French boy who became a professional singer despite suffering from cystic fibrosis - a lung disease from which he died aged 23. He - like you in a different way - is an inspiration to boys who "must sing". As Nana Mascouri said, "I was born a singer. I NEED to sing." ❤

I wish folk music would come back. I liked “Puff the Magic Dragon”, as a child, for its sound . I came to appreciate various styles of it in recent decades, but like beautiful singing kinds best. Folk can be very soulful. It seems this is a time of people crossing genres to explore different music, so maybe the time is ripe for a revival.
