much simpler times and so much love between drivers. nowdays no one would even look at you let alone to help you out. much respect for good old drivers of that time. love it
it is very interesting an a remebering to 1965 year, as we as young and adventure drivers from Germany to Iraq with TV and Airport equipment to Bagdad Airport started and this adventure also finisched. Nobody believed our this action, but we did it! And that i can write this is that I am now 80 years old and have also photos from this adventure and more others, like trips to UDSSR and OULO in Finland....
Great service thanks for the uploads old trucks and I knew Gordon peace he worked for astran in the early years with Bob out of Chislehurst office above the butchers shop drove a scania 110 drawbar more please
It was a differant time.. I remember asking a driver from Astans (who had a dépôt opposite to where I worked in Sevenoaks) whether they had a vaccancy to which he said no but he said that an outfit in East London were looking for drivers...and a week later I was on my way to Iran... That outfit (I've forgotten their name) subsequently got done for drugs offences !! Extra chassis members welded onto trailers in Afghanistan. God we were young and innocent...
Absolutely tremendous. Truly Epic journeys. A lot of top hauliers of that time, much simpler times where drivers actually had time and respect for each other. Help was never far away. I only went as far as Istanbul, much respect to those who made many journeys. Class Hauliers, Class Trucks, A Special breed of driver. Thanks for sharing 👍🏻👍🏻👌
Great old pics of the Hungarocamion and Astran empires, a very different time with no hi-viz. I have Kevin Nobles book Baghdad trucker, that mentions Londra Camp, and there it is! Simpler times, and bring back those fuel prices 😂.....
Hi all. A great mixture of British and Foreign trucks but mainly UK haulage companies. Great memories of the Tahir pass in Eastern Turkey in April clear blue sky's and two meters of snow 1972
Bonjour je suis routier portuguais et je vais beaucoup en france et italie et bravo a tous ces anciens qui allaient partout et le systeme etait diferent de maintenant

@ 16:28 This Polish license plate from the years 1956-1976 is self-made, thereupon it imitates the appearance of the French plates from the years 1960's-1992.
This guys were heroes ! ....just think that in the transport compagny I'm now driving , à young driver refuse to go to Rungis ( from Brest) just because his mobile battery was out of order ! (...but to be honnest, I don't think I would be able to do middle-east trip when I was younger )

Another classic video.i could look at pics and read about the mid east run all day long.is there anybody still doing it or is it just too dangerous now with all the wars ect?
Transporte Internationale Routier ( not sure if spelled right) Load was sealed off . The string you see Holding the tarp is a steelwire which could be plombded. Then you had a TIR-carnet which was a international costums document and the load was not checked at every border
What load would they carry out and then back? I find it hard to believe it was viable. I would imagine these guys were the elites of truck drivers. Well respected.
I worked for M&C transport late 70s/early 80s, where did you get the M&C F12 pic? have you got any others? Are there any survivors out there from M&C Transport over that time frame? Bob Cowie
@ 16:23 Does anyone know what this Scania is? I see a sign saying 101 but in the English Wikipedia, the article about Scania AB does not mention such a model, and when typing Scania 101 in Google Images, an old nose truck appears in the search results.
