this BMPCC has a damaged microHDMI port because of to much mechanical force coming from a thick hdmi cable and because microHDMI is the worst nightmare.
I wanted to try to fix it but probably wont be able to, since the port was ripped of with the soldering pads. Still interesting to see the inside of the camera.
Sorry for the changing light - my camera was set to auto-light as i realized later..
It can still be fixed by measuring which of the pins and traces to the chip has been disrupted. In the worst case you would have to resolder the pins from the HDMI connector directly to the adjacent chip. It's just 7 connections really.
Hello Csaba, I have a BMPCC with similar damages. I can't find anyone to fix it, so I decided to do it myself. Do you have any suggestion to do the job? I'm pretty skilled in soldering, but I never tried before microsoldering.

I have a major problem right now. My bmpcc battery port is damaged. It cant recieve any batteries. i first thought it was because of the battery but it changing the battery didn't solve the issue. i opened the bmpcc but the internal plat is almost like a phone so i dont know how to fix it, any suggestions?
how do the pins in the battery compartment look. are they broken?
If someone could mod this with a flip screen and a bigger battery compartment, they would be millionaires. Ok maybe not, but I'd love it.

hi. sorry i already put it back together and sent it to the owner. But the metal plate behind the display that you see in the video is actually the back of the display and there weren't any numbers as far as i remember.

the rubber of my camera dettached from the body, by itself (at least I didn't rip it...). how do you glue the rubber back? any hints on that?

the broken circuit leads can be fixed, u can scratch them to expose the copper and bridge with solder.!
yeah but not underneath the plug for the second row. also with this pitch size it's not exactly easy.

great videos, I have a BMPCC with scratch glass covering the sensor from inside. I thought the sratch was from outside the glass but actually from inside. I have inform the Blackmagic support team about the problem. They said, since the warranty period have lapse they cannot replace the glass. The problem now is I don't know where to send the camera to replace the glass as the scratch is very obvious in every footage i took, meaning cannot be use. I have posted a footage entitle "scratch in my BMPCC" in you tube. So now no choice I intend to open the BMPCC myself to replace the glass but the problem is I don't know how to remove the glass should i open follow your step? Or anybody can help how to remove the glass.Thks.
do you have the part number for the micro hdmi connector? From the pictures, it looks like Molex 46765-0001. Can anyone confirm?
How viable is the sd card slot to replace if it isn't reading sd cards

Yes the connection is the same. I have replaced mine, working perfectly.

any tips for reconnecting the right ribbon cable that controls the buttons? I am having trouble getting the cable receiver to fasten shut.

Oh. I didn't go that far in the comments. I thought there was a special reason otherwise it looked like it was just in the way. Did you get the HDMI connector fixed?

Well if the soldering pad / leads were not damage you could fix this with a hair dryer.. We do it with a proffesional hot air soldering iron. But they are not cheap. We do a lot of smd soldering and repair.
yep, i do too. but almost all of the pads were gone.
+Xtreemtec Media Productions exactly how do I do it with a hair dryer and what's happening? I can get and output signal sometimes but most of the times I don't so I guess I have a chance to fix it. What about a little mini tourch if you use it very quickly?

+BennyWheelie i wouldnt try it with a torch - this will burn the plastic parts of the connectors. a hairdryer will be difficult too since its not very directional heat. maybe you can find yomeone who does "SMD / BGA rework" in your area. but chances are high that the pads are ripped of with these small hdmi-connectors. have you asked BM directly? they might replace it for you
+youser23 Ok, so if the pads are ripped there is no way to repair it, even with a hot air tool?
I actually managed to get a picture on the monitor today but it didn't last very long so I guess it's repairable with hotair.
No, I haven't asked BM but the camera is more than 2 years old :-(

i would try some ultra-thin double sided tape.

Larry D Williams II yeah thats bad. i would say its not fixable without changing the mainboard. Its impossible to separate the mainboard from the camera's chip as far as i know so i guess a new camera is th eonly fix :-/
But theres a massive pricedrop on the camera since yesterday!
youser23:nebukad yeah and when i talked to them the day before the sale they offered to replace mine for the 495 but because I'm getting a blackmagic cinema camera and my pocket camera still works fine i just can't use my external monitor with it ill be fine because its becoming b cam anyways

i dont think it was a problem for the lens. i just didn't have the bodycap.

Argasun Naruna i would suggest holding it with the sensor pointing downwards blowing with one of those lens-cleaning air pumps or even better giving it to a professional sensor cleaner.
+Argasun Naruna just use a can of compressed air and gravity (aim sensor at floor). You could even try a lens puffer as a first step but if compressed air doesnt do it take it to a camera shop. Its a basic mechanical task they should only charge for labor.
