Fun to see the cinema camera taken apart. It'd be cool to do a re-housing mod, to make it more ergonomic (long instead of wide, for starters), and maybe a fully detachable screen.
I answered my question and will answer it for those who may also be wondering. The rubber on the front of the camera is just glued on. It peels back (You do not have to remove the lens mount) and this will reveal holes which give access to the screws which hold the monitor unit. My need is to replace the battery (even though Blackmagic will do it for $50 which is very reasonable, I need it NOW :-) The screws are torx head(star drive) just be warned--you'll probably have to go buy a proper driver if you don't have one.
Hey, thanks for posting. I know I'm 6 years late in replying, however if you see this reply, can you tell me how easy (or difficult) it is to replace the screen on the BMCC? I have one that is no longer showing the image being produced by the lens, and the menu has a bunch of lines going thru it. Hopefully it's only the screen that needs replacing....🤞
Great job and kudos to you for putting it together and make it work. I afraid my self to do it. I do have a pocket camera got used for a really good price, I notice the lens mount on the camera seems to be a bit loose, well I will manage to fix it some how. Great video and thanks for sharing
Hi, I also have such a camera, a powerful laser hit the lens and burned the sensor. Now I need to replace the sensor. Where can I get a new sensor? Do you have a sensor of 4k for sale?
Hi, I'm wondering how can I find a way to repair a Blackmagic Design Cinema 2.5 k. It's discontinued and I think we need a new motherboard for it. I appreciate it if you help us find a way to fix our camera. Thanks.
hey ! my blackmagic camera touchscreen is not work.I think touchscreen problem.Where i find blackmagic camera screen..Do you know some web site? thank you.
Nyce! Excellent work. Recently the SDI video port on my camera stopped transmitting signal, so I cant use an external monitor. Any idea if i can replace only the SDI port? If it is simple ?
+Jesica Aran Good question Jesica! I actually had that same problem on the camera before this one. I called up BMD and they said it was a known issue. They shipped me a brand new camera and I sent them a defective model. I think it was like 20 bucks for shipping. -Theo
this may be silly obvious, but you might show how to pull the screen out. I sort of see the four points where screws might be, but I'm not sure and am afraid to use force getting the thing out. Thanks for the video!
Ah man. You had me terrified half way through that..... well done on fixing. Listen cheeky question... When you were taking this apart, did you see an easy way of removing a broken metal jack part form the audio socket. Im struggling to come up with a solution. All the best
Theo. Thanks fir this video. My internal battery is dead, as in won't recharge. Can you kindly tell me if that big blue pack was the internal battery, and what kind of battery is it? I can't be without a camera for any amount of time right now, so i need to replace it myself.
Tell me something recently my camera having problems when I place the SSD in the camera sometime it doesn't show and then it will shows and I know about certain SSD won't work but that's not the case do you anybody experience this situation
Hi, nice video! I need to open and repair the remote connector...in your video is not possible to see how to open the camera...can you explain? Thanks!!!!
+Marco Recalchi I'm in the same boat. the connector on my LANC wiggles in my BMCC and I'm past warranty. Did you have any luck repairing it yourself? I have a short film shoot in 2 weeks and need to DIY. How hard was it to repair?
MiesnerMedia Damn, Ive got the same BMC, but I don't have the sound bars etc.? Is there an update or is it a mod? Oh which lenses do you have? (Do you use speedboosters as well?)
ASTZDomidragon It's a firmware update that you can get from blackmagic designs website. If you haven't updated in a while then you are in for a treat :) I do use a speed booster and a bunch of old nikon lenses. -Theo
Dear American. Solder has an "L" in it, thus is pronounced sold-der. Not sodder. But I commend you bravado. And kinda like your delivery. Cheers. PS well done on the fix.
jtan163 Thanks for bringing this up! If we are ever in the same area we should definitely meet for coffee. I would love to hear your correct pronunciation of: Knack, Knapsack, Knave, Knead, Knee, Kneel, Knickers, Knice, Knight, Knock, Knowledge, Gnat, Pneumonia, Psalm, Pseudonym, Tsunami, and many other great anomalies of the english language :) Have a great day!
MiesnerMedia No problem. Despite our inherent cultural differences I did subscribe to your channel. Really enjoy the videos I've watched so far. Keep up the good work etc. And just to clarify: Nack. Nap-Sack. Nave. Need. Nee (like the knights). Neil. Nickers. Knice (no such thing), Night. S.U.donym. S.U-army. Tomarto. Not Tomayto. :-)
MiesnerMedia - glad you found the response satisfactory and took the whole thing in the intended light - but if we're ever in the same place coffee would still be trés trés cool.
Hi Miesner, I would like know how to access at the sensor because i've a small dust :( Not on the mirror , she is on the sensor. In your vidéo it's not indicate how to disassemble in a first time the camera. You can explain me quickly for accessing to the sensor ? thank you very much. Fred.
TunnelvizionTV Yes , it's you Ruan ? If yes, I send you a email with a picture. I've resolved my problem in disassembling my BlackMagic. If you have need of some explanations , let me know ;)
+FredCTV Could you please share disassembling pictures along with some explanation? I only need to replace the battery but have no idea where to start.

I have hit my black magic against the floor, but it works fine. do you think it caused any internal damage?
Nice video, do you know how to repair the sdi port? I brought a new one and instaled but no signal?
Dang, you're like borderline super genius. I would never even consider trying to fix it myself haha. Great work.
