    Thank you, very inspiring! I'm thinking about swap mine with 2x18650 cells, external, then I can swap them on set.

      Good idea - I would probably remove the internal one as well... Mine looked like it was about to explode

    Thanks for the video it’s really helpful! About to do the same thing but hopefully add an extra battery, just wondering if I’d need any other equipment to do that. Thanks!

      There should be enough room but it may be easier with one larger battery if you can find one the right size/shape/voltage so you won't have to worry about balancing them.

    Hey! Love this video, I might do this with my camera. Just wondering, if I just remove the internal battery altogether and have no internal battery anymore, would that be okay? Would it still operate over DC input?
    Additionally, in regards to your new battery, how long does it last compared to the old old? My old battery lasts maybe 5 minutes
    Thanks

      I am not 100% sure but it should work fine without the battery in. With the new battery I get about an hour of continuos shooting

    This is pretty amazing... Where are you based and how much would it cost to replace 3 of them? I am deeply stupid when it comes to electronics. I'm deadly serious.

    • @CustomCans

      We are in Cheltenham in the UK. We generally only work on headphones but if you can't find anywhere else to do it, We should be able to do it. It would cost about £20 per camera in labour, £25 ish for a battery and then return postage

    i was just thinking about something completely different, see how the DT1990 pro is kind of open but not quite, did you consider making them more open with maybe a custom can grill? You must have tried something similar of anther set of cans.

    • @skyeait5939
      @skyeait5939 2 года назад +2

      the holes in the plastic dont even correspond with the can grill lol, maybe some audio degradation from that alone.

    • @CustomCans
      @CustomCans  2 года назад +1

      It would not be quite a straightforward as that. Making them more open would make them sound more spacious and airy probably but it would also throw the tuning out so you would have to do other mods to the driver / enclosure to bring the frequency response back in line. We have done that in the past with DT990s, removing the internal baffle to make them fully open, it made them a bit too bright and harsh so now we add foam to the back of the driver but that took weeks of testing to find the right combination of things.
      On the 1990 the plastic eracup has the holes in it so to make it more open you would have to replace the whole earcup. If I ever get the time I may try DT1990 drivers in the DT990 housings just to see what they are like

      @@CustomCans Im so glad you know about this stuff and so specifically. its the kind of thing i wouldn't stop thinking about until I'd carried it out and made them possibly sound rubbish lol. My thoughts were to open the sound stage and sacrifice some base but you're right they are bright enough as it is it and it would become quite nasty and then I'd have to go into learning about tuning drivers and buying some of those ear things to measure frequency..... na.
      Thanks very much!

    I'm surprise you picked one up for $300. I spent more on my original pocket camera. did that come with a metabones speed booster? (there are cheaper alternative speed boosters)
    for film work when using outside an ir cut filter is also needed when using nd filters with the original black-magic 2.5k. can still produce incredible images

    • @CustomCans
      @CustomCans  2 года назад +1

      It did not come with a speed booster but I have 16mm and 28mm primes so it is just about usable for youtube stuff ;)
      I am pretty new to shooting videos so the learning curve has been quite steep using this camera but I am starting to get some nice results now and have learnt a lot along the way

    What’s the battery life on the camera now ? Is it still working perfectly ? And what does the charge port look like

    • @CustomCans
      @CustomCans  2 года назад +2

      Have not done a timed test but around an hour, i reckon. It still works perfectly and it is the standard barrel type charge port on the outside of the camera. The internal battery charge port was a 2pin mini connector of some kind - not 100% sure which it was

    I have the same camera. I think my SDI output Port is not working and my battery has a memory on it and the cooling fan is not working. Can you change all these parts? Have you had any trouble with overheating and your fan not coming on?

    • @CustomCans

      You may be able to scrape back to coating and solder jumper wires to fix the ribbon cable or if you measure the pitch of the contacts and then number of contacts you may be able to look that up and find a replacement
