- How to clean the PSU easy tutorial step by step:
- Unplug your PC main cable.
- Switch the PSU button to "0"
- Press few times the power button on the PC so there is no electricity in it
- Remove all the cables from the PC (keyboard, mouse, HDMI, VGA, etc.)
- Now remove the side panel by unscrewing two screws
- Unscrew the screws that hold the power supply to the case
- Remove the screws to open the PSU panel and the fan
- Be careful not to touch the power supply PCB because in some parts there is still electricity
- Clean the fan, the panel, under the PSU and the case
- Now we can reassemble everything

how long do u wait for the psu to discharge ? least 30 mins ?
Please don't clean out dust in your PC this way. For starters vaccum cleaners create static electricity which can fry components and secondly never work on a PC on carpet which can also create static electricity.
Isn't a bit dangerous to teardown a PSU when 1 minute ago the PC was turned on? All the capacitors should be already charged. I would have worn gloves
Yes it's dangerous to touch the capacitors, but in my case the PC wasn't on before, and I pay attention to not touch them.
Hold the power button on the pc while the psu is off to drain it.
@@CUSTARDP00DLETK That drains the capacitors about 80 or 90%, not completely, but is much safer that not doing that.
@@jimmicrackhead12 totally agree, i have cleaned my psu dust while the pc was plugged in with the psu switched on and i don't complain :D
@@thesuperpinky6740 cos your an old school IT guy, not like these youtube bred millenial wimps aroubd here
just done mine today - not been cleaned since 2013 - i would not want to have to clean it while it is still connected to the pc though - it only takes a few seconds to disconnect the plugs from motherboard, hdd, gpu etc
i have REX-750AS psu and the box opens a different way.......the 4 screws n the front of the fan merely shifts the grid protecting the fan .... tried prying it open but no dice and i worry damaging the case....if you can show how shall be much obliged
Hi, you should remove all the screws, not just the 4 that holds the fan.
Then cut the stickers around the body and you should be able to open it.
Be careful do not touch the capacitors because they can have voltage inside.
My psu has recently been acting up, specifically making a low volume (not pitch) crackling electrical type of noise during heavy loads. I wonder if it's the actual parts of psu like the capacitors deteriorating and leaking or if it could be dust creating contact in between a certain part of the psu and another one causing static and electrical noise?? I haven't cleaned my psu ever since I got it more than 2 years ago. Any thoughts and recommendations would be great.
If you have rgb lights try to remove these and see if there's difference.
If you still hear the noise it can be because the components are getting hot, this can be because the fan on the psu is very dirty.
Before cleaning the psu remove the main plug and press multiple times the button to start the pc and be very careful because the capacitors can still have voltage inside.
@@WhatTube I learned that it was actually coil whine. Probably developed it when I finally got a gpu and stopped using my integrated gpu. Yeah im going to put lotion on my hands and wear rubber gloves as to not get electrocuted while cleaning it.
Cheers for the Vid Enjoyed it ... Can I ask where You got the Music from Please ? Thanks again
Thanks, it's one from the NCS.
Bro in my pc there is my speaker problem. When i tweak sound up and down tgen a static noise comes and when i am just muting it it makes a small 'patttt' type noise. Is it a psu problem. As i have tested on both headphone and speaker.
iirc tuning down mic boost in win sound setting helps
Are you using a normal vacuum cleaner of something special for electronics which takes care of static buildup
Hi,
It was a normal vacuum cleaner, I know it's not good because of the static electricity but mine is still working great.
@@WhatTube thanks for the reply.
hi i might be a bit late but almost all of my games crash mid game or on startup could this be dust in the pcu and other components? i have a video on my channel for you to check out and see my problem
Hi, yes it could be dust on the fans or other components, and try to replace the thermal paste on the CPU and GPU.
Hi my psu makes buzzing sounds and when it does the pc doesn’t boot up. But other times it boots up just fine. Could dust be the problem ?
Hi, it can be the dust but it can be the fan, or the fan bearing or other PSU component as well.
i believe Buzzing sounds is an indicator of two possible things.
1. coil whine (these things whine, its in their nature, its not necessarily a bad thing)
2. bad capacitors (could mean they are deteriorating, building up gas and releasing it through cracks, this isnt good, and probably a sign the psu is near end of life)
if the psu is old, out of warranty, i would recommend buying a new one, not taking it apart and fucking with it.
It's the filter next to the psu I've had the same problem for years
I really have a big problem with my pc, i was playing a game one time then its suddenly shutted down, i tried to turn it on back but it wont turn on, then i tried to unplug and replug the power switch and it turned back on again it was a relief, then when its done opening it shutted down again, and never opend anymore, i tried to repeat the same thing on the power switch, but it wont turn back no more, i dont know whats the problem.
Bruh Same Problem Here also... how you fix it
i think you need to clean it and clean your ram with eraser then change your thermal paste that should be work
Hello so i have an old PC from 2009 and recently the psu fan stopped spinning i think its because of the dust but im just a 12 year old kid im afraid that If i try to clean it i break it
Hi, if the fan stopped working, most probably the system overheated and caused issues to other components as well.
What is the brand and model of that Case?
Hi, it's the Vibox Element case.
My computer has been freezing mid game for some reason, and when it freezes it makes a really loud noise in my right headphone. Any ideas of how to fix it?
Hi, what are the CPU and GPU temperature?
@@WhatTube I've actually been keeping track of it, while not in game they both stay around 31-40 degrees and while in game they reach up to 59 degrees
@@WhatTube the main game I play is fairly intense on graphics, Rainbow Six Siege
It looks like the CPU temperatures are too high or you have bad drivers.
Try to reapply the thermal paste on the CPU and clean the fan and the cpu cooler.
WhatTube alright thanks for your help, I just dusted out my whole pc case yesterday so I’ll try reapplying the paste hope it works
I think you might have put the fan back the wrong way round
😋 Yes I realized that when I edited the video
Does not cleaning your psu?make it stop working?
No, but if there's lots of dust on the component then it can heat up quickly and the fan doesn't provide enough air to cool it down.
Hi, my computer turn off by itself in between and when I opened and checked CPU some burning smell was coming can there be problem with PSU
Yes it can be the PSU, have you applied thermal paste before fitting the CPU?
i hope u respond do u have to remove the pins?
Hi, if you mean the pins soldered then no I didn't removed them.
@@WhatTube hi and thank you for responding even tho the vid is 3 year old xd
can you use isopropyl alcohol on the PSU PCB?
Yes you can use isopropyl alcohol on it.
Thanks for watching 👍
@@WhatTube cheers mate!
@@theunraveler simple google search would of gave the answer, but yes you can
@@WhatTube might want to be careful though the psu can carry a heavy charge even when unplugged.
^you can always try and power on the pc after unplugging to discharge it
ALL IS ABOUT CLEANING PSU DUST OR THE DUST OF THE PSU
The dust on the PSU
Congratz , now your psu will be dead in few weeks or you will be dead in 1 min. Psu still contains high charge of electricity even when its plugged off. Also opening psu will damage the components.
Hi, already 9 months and the PSU is running great, I agree that there is electricity even if the PSU is removed, that's why I did not touched any capacitors.
Dismas stop being a bitch
Just don't touch the capacitors 4head
@dismas you must be a 2000's bitch.
In my opinion u an use a blower opening a psu is so dangerous that if u it has even a little charge it can kill u so used blower or compressed air
Yes, that's true
Don't use a vaccum cleaner, don't do this on a carpet.
Warning dont ever put a vacuum on the motherboard of any electronic. They have very sensitive pins and the vacuum may disturb them, which may cause your electronic to be inoperable.
what do you mean? its the vacuum plastic host going inside the computer the vaccum is few feet away. how is that dangerous?
@@KnowerofThings I wasn't saying they did it in this video. Just a general warning to anyone new to PC cleaning.
@@DaddyLychee but why? i put vacuum host into case all the time no harm done.
@@KnowerofThings Rub the end of your vacuum across your motherboard and all it components. Dont forget the bottom of the CPU, those pins surely collect dust. And dont forget to RUB the vacuum on them. You'll see why after that.
first: use your eyes to see your computer, second: use your hands to move stuff
Bruh My Pc Automatically Randomly Restart .. Is that PSU error..? I tried In safe Mode But Still It restart..
Hi, yes it can be, but it can be the cpu, gpu, ram or other parts, you should check the temperature of each component.
@@WhatTube bruh I checked all other Like temp Thats normal.. Sometimes Pc automatically Turn Off then I just Disconnect Plug which is connected to psu and then connect it again then it turn on.. So i Think Problem may be of PSU
@@alvinwilson2545 yes it can be, how you checked the Watts you need and what's the psu watt?
Maybe you need a psu with more Watts
@@WhatTube OK
use some old tooth brush
*Hold* not Holds 🙂
A very good and helpful film
Thanks very much.
Why don't you just remove the psu connection ang take it out? This is not a good method
Hi, I didn't removed the connection because in this PSU is soldered to the PCB.
I can remove the connection in the motherboard side but I had to remove other components from the motherboard then I had to remove the motherboard from the case as well.
Too much for just cleaning it, thanks anyway for your comment.
very wrong in so may aspects
