Lars Kern, Pfaff Motorsports endurance racer and Porsche development driver, takes a seat in the Porsche 911 GT2 RS in an effort to break the production car lap record at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. The result? A new production car lap record of 1:22.36.
This’ll always be Mosport to me. Such a fun track.
God the 991.2 GT2 RS is a freak beast!!
On the Nurburgring, the GT2 RS managed to barely beat the Pagani Zonda R (6:47.3 to the Zonda’s 6:47.5) whilst here the GT2 RS didn’t even come close. The Zonda R ran a 1:07 here.
German guy just left the plane, sets record with German car. Flies back home. Job done.
Yeah
He didn't even break a sweat on this easy track we have
Efficient
Bring GT2 RS in Gran Turismo Sport..
I think Porsche is a Forza Motorsport's partner. Sooo, not gonna happen
But with GOOD steering!
@@maxwellritz2332 didn't know that tbh
Who's better then Porsche🤔🤔 Nobody
You know who's better than Porsche?
Another Porsche.
Impressive reference, going to lap it next weekend with 488, 😊
Howd you do!
What vehicle held the previous production car record? But, 1:22 isn't bad. Nascar's Pinty's series will run a 1:22 there, and the Nascar Truck series will run sub 1:20's. I bet the GT2 RS could too.
arent they on slick tires?
The superbikes are also running low 1:21 laps around here. Impressive by the Porsche.
It would be interesting to know what the PDK lap times would be between it being in the “Auto” position, version the manual shifting that the driver does while chasing a lap record like this?
Meu carro dos sonhos, me patrocina Porsche além de carros lindo são excelentes.
when you do these record laps, is the fuel tank full or half full or what?
Probably low fuel
Low fuel they can go faster but full tank keeps them down more with weight
Guy jumps off a plane and sets a lap record. 4 years later, Corvette team takes three full days of lapping and gets one good lap.
three full days of lapping?
What are the two dots going inside the two circles? can someone explain?
I kinda figured it has something to do with the direction of motion of car. If it is indeed showing the lateral acceleration and longitudinal acceleration, the direction of the dot's movement confuses me.
G-force
G-force, but it seems like the lateral (left to right) axis is reversed
Como me encantaria ver este coche en Nurburgring
Porsche when can we expect some GT2 RS Clubsport action in nurburgring nordschleife?
Wanted to see throttle and brake data
Waiting for the “GT3RS was also here and sort of set a record” follow up video... 🤣
Lap times would be more significant if there were other lap times to compare it to. Numbers by itself don't mean a thing and doesn't do justice for such a fantastic car.
It takes me about 2:00 in my Cayman S at this track
This car just went faster than the entirety of imsa Michelin pilot challenge class. Even in their qualifying trim they were running 1:23s. So just to put this in perspective they are race cars on race slicks.
@@akieabdul DAYM 😲😲😲
@@akieabdul It's definitely impressive, but remember those cars have restrictors that limit power to 4-450hp (not sure if that is brake hp or to the ground). Seems like that difference in power about makes up for the aero and tire advantages they have (plus a little, as like you said this car is still about a second quicker than quali times).
You should have him go back now he knows the track better. He could break into the teens. He could of for sure gone down turn 4 faster, so Im sure there is a bunch of time to be made up elsewhere.
Kinda silly for Porsche to bring in a guy from Germany to drive the car when they could have saved the airfare and just had Ron Fellows jump in and set a record.
Ist das Mosport? Die Kurve 2 kommt mir irgendwie bekannt vor
Yup
Cojin So ja
So y’all just gonna keep breaking track records huh? Aight
Was this done in auto or manual mode?
From the video it looks like manual mode as you can see him pulling at the righthand paddle for upshifts.
Was gunna say a lot of room to go faster, compared with how f1 drivers do it totally on the limit entire lap. Not detracting from him but saying could be even better
No way this guy is new to the track, lol
Who else is here from Jalopnik?
Just like that
TUCK FRUMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Go Trump!
_ that racetrack needs new asphalt , lots of noise coming from the track .
It's not exactly hard to get a record here. Amateur drivers in rusty project cars, teenagers, and racing series nobody has heard of. The lap records at the Nürburgring are an accomplishment. This not so much 😂😂but good job Porsche is the best 👌
So you haven't heard of IMSA is what you're saying...
