Tesla 20 sec faster. German media outlet Auto Motor und Sport, which has been covering the region’s auto industry since 1946, stated in a recent report that the Model S beat the Porsche Taycan’s Nurburgring lap time by almost 20 seconds. An observer from the publication recorded a hand-stopped lap time of 7 minutes 23 seconds for the Model S, far quicker than the pre-production Taycan’s time of 7 minutes 42 seconds. But what's maybe more important: Twitter user: I guess new Roadster will easily beat the all time record of 6:44.97s? Elon: Absolutely Looking forward to the death of ICE :) .
@BTICronox 2. I don't see why Elon would not have properly measured times. There is no official time, but I don't think he relies on hand held time either. But we have to wait, indeed. 3. It's quite clear that the person was referring to fastest street legal car. I don't think Tesla has resources to play around with models that they will not be selling. They go slow even on Roadster, because the mission is to advance transition to sustainable energy. Powerful toy cars don't do much to make that happen. While Tesla Model S is their cash caw, they want it to sell well :) . 1. Either you have done your research very well, or you are out of my league when it comes to knowledge about cars. I'm a spectator that happily goes around by bike :) . (I love Dutch bike infrastructure!) Could you estimate how much difference the tires could make in terms of seconds.
@Lambullshitini That's their "plaid" version prototype. Elon was kind of hinting at a new Model S version for some time. Porsche was also driving prototype. And the tires - I have no idea whether that is cheating or not, seems to me like Porsche, and people buying these cars can use them too :) .
@BTICronox Seems like Tesla official twitter account is confirming: Data from our track tests indicates that Model S Plaid can achieve 7:20 at the Nürburgring. With some improvements, 7:05 may be possible when Model S returns next month.
The Porsche 911 came out in 1964. After 56 years of development, it can conquer the Nürburgring in 6:48. The Taycan came out in 2019 and can conquer the Nürburgring in 7:42, just 54 seconds slower than the best 911 lap recorded. Just imagine what it can do 10 years from now, we might have a neck and neck race with the 911, assuming Porsche allows anything to touch it's most sacred brand. (P.S. I am talking about road legal vehicles, not prototypes.)
While the Tesla still has the quickest 0 - 60 MPH. No one can deny that the Porsche Taycan is much superior car because of it's build quality, much better cornering performance and Faster Higher speed acceleration instead of just 0 - 60 MPH and 1/4 Mile Short Race. And also much more durable too that it can do 0 - 200 KM/H in 10 seconds repeatedly for more than 25 times. Porsche Taycan is the new benchmark for Electric 4 Door EVs. And Tesla needs to take note and compete with their future cars. Instead of relying on the hype of Internet where you see them beating some cars at only short 1/4 Mile races.
@ShadowRomeo1784 Good Post. Nonetheless, I'm sure when the Taycan is tested, it's 0-60 will be somewhere between 2.2-2.7 secs. They're already telling Automobile Magazine, etc., the Taycan's "comfortably less than 3 sec 0-60" now.
@@msl5253 those top accelerations of tesla are achieved with the equivalent of aggressive chip tuning. Not repeatable and bad for engine and battery. I just watched a production version taycan do a lap and even tho the engine sound is fake, I kind of miss it, but it’s nice to hear what it actually sounds like
So, it got up to 161 mph/259 kph on the straight. Porsche says, it can go 162+ mph, so that would be correct (particularly/presumably if it wasn't running the ring for almost 7 min). Insane G numbers (particularly for a heavy sedan) as well!! Good for them, and EV's in general.
this is the turbo version only after all. on the tesla they announced a time of 7:23 - 19 seconds faster not sure how can Porsche close the gap even with turbo s
Its so surreal experience when you can actually hear the sound of tires screeching and making noises on impact with the side markers and brakes when applied ! In all ICE cars these sounds can not be heard since they all drowned out by the noise of the engine !

Plus, trusting the aero in real life is nothing as consistent as it is in games or even sims. Simulating bernoulli's principle in-game with the tech we have now? Haha, maybe in 10 years.
@dimas kaharudin still, it's amazing those of us who grew up with racing games can remember all the corners of a 20km circuit. Props to us, right?
@dimas kaharudin exactly haha. Grind on the 'Ring for hours on end for only a week and you'll get it. I'm still amazed how professional drivers can lap cars like the Zonda R or the 919 Tribute as fast as they can. It's scary enough to watch, imagine doing it yourself. One mistake and you'll crash right into the gates of heaven at 300kmh!
Same here brotha. I carried on over into forza Motorsport for me

Fire Heart one track. Still waiting for for an impression in the premier class.
Unfortunately for Porsche no other car is synonymous with the premier class of motor racing (F1) as is Ferrari. Check the stats. Another car brand would need to win every F1 race for the next 20 years straight to catch up to Ferrari.
Have a good day.
Le mans is world's greatest Motorsport event and Ferrari is nowhere near Porsche in terms of Le Mans victories. Porsche being #1 in terms of victory count in the world's greatest motorsports event.
@Fire Heart yeah almost or maybe every manufacturers had some victories but not as many as Porsche. What I'm trying to say is Porsche is the most successful car manufacturer in Le mans in terms of victory with the most wins than any other and it's all over the internet.
Aerodynamic The Weirdo Boy OF The Universe most wins at Le Mans. That’s fair enough.

@@provigilandchill Stripped out vehicle? without proof i can say the same with the prototype taycan. Even Porsche admits that is a prototype at the start of the video,it does admit that it tweaked the motor and battery software for the track in the press release and it clearly has bucket seats and a roll bar. Don't get me wrong ,i consider the Taycan an impressive EV and the first sport focused EV on the market but I find depressing that no matter what Tesla accomplish it's always treated as garbage.

But what's maybe more important:
Twitter user: I guess new Roadster will easily beat the all time record of 6:44.97s?
Elon: Absolutely
Looking forward to the death of ICE :) .
(I love Dutch bike infrastructure!)
Could you estimate how much difference the tires could make in terms of seconds.
@Lambullshitini That's their "plaid" version prototype. Elon was kind of hinting at a new Model S version for some time. Porsche was also driving prototype.
And the tires - I have no idea whether that is cheating or not, seems to me like Porsche, and people buying these cars can use them too :) .
@BTICronox Seems like Tesla official twitter account is confirming:
Data from our track tests indicates that Model S Plaid can achieve 7:20 at the Nürburgring.
With some improvements, 7:05 may be possible when Model S returns next month.
That model s plaid wasn’t stock and the roadster isn’t even real
The Porsche 911 came out in 1964. After 56 years of development, it can conquer the Nürburgring in 6:48. The Taycan came out in 2019 and can conquer the Nürburgring in 7:42, just 54 seconds slower than the best 911 lap recorded. Just imagine what it can do 10 years from now, we might have a neck and neck race with the 911, assuming Porsche allows anything to touch it's most sacred brand.
(P.S. I am talking about road legal vehicles, not prototypes.)

@@kangvp9512 Have you considered he might have been referring to the silence from the lap?
Considering the Taycan is electric..?
@ShadowRomeo1784
Good Post.
Nonetheless, I'm sure when the Taycan is tested, it's 0-60 will be somewhere between 2.2-2.7 secs. They're already telling Automobile Magazine, etc., the Taycan's "comfortably less than 3 sec 0-60" now.
Porsche simply got their cock outta their pants. Wait for them to show off their huge ballz.
@@msl5253 those top accelerations of tesla are achieved with the equivalent of aggressive chip tuning. Not repeatable and bad for engine and battery. I'm sure the prosche could get similar times when doing the same. Maybe slightly slower, but not by much. At those extreme accelerations, tire grip becomes a limiting factor. Trslas use very sticky tires. Would love to see the taycan "overclocked", gutted and with sticky tires doing 0-100 and 0-200-0 with that setup
@@thorwaldjohanson2526
Yeah. I hear ya. And as it turns out: The Taycan will get similar, if not better 0-60 times (for those who deem this all important) based off what Porsche's telling the media (and they're experience during their brief stints behind the wheel) lately.

The Tesla was non production, so you can't compare it to the Taycan.
Its so surreal experience when you can actually hear the sound of tires screeching and making noises on impact with the side markers and brakes when applied !
In all ICE cars these sounds can not be heard since they all drowned out by the noise of the engine !
