- This video shows How To Install Peel-and-Stick Vinyl Plank Flooring and the concrete floor Preparation that goes with it. Easy and quick way of filling the expansion joint and sealing the floor before installing the plank flooring. The product is a 6”x36” vinyl plank made by TrafficMaster and looks amazing in the new shop. I’m very happy with how durable it is and how easily it went down. I hope you guys learn something from this video and please don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions.
The flooring is made by a company called Traffic Master and we were able to get it at Home Depot for $0.99 per square foot. Peel and Stick Flooring I used: www.homedepot.....

Thank you for this video!! I'm 71 and renovating my house during the pandemic (nothing else to do - VBG) I'm planning to lay flooring in 3 rooms and you have given me the confidence that I can do it.
That’s awesome Joyce. Good luck with your project !
Great job! And one of the few people who actually show people that cleaning and sealing a concrete floor prior to either a peel and stick or glue down is a MUST! Especially in a basement! BRAVO!
mikeinchgo thanks mike. Since this is my shop and I spend a lot of time in it I wanted to do it right. Don’t want to trip over a peeling floor when holding a chisel lol
What happens if you don't seal the floor first
@@KomarProject How much residue do these leave over an older vinyl flooring if u were to remove them?
I really like when my wife and I do project together. We goof around, crack jokes and it bonds our relationship very well. When I saw this video, i can feel the excitement and the joy between two of you. I like the idea, the look and you guys did a better job than anyone who do any flooring I know lol
Abdul Jama awww thank you. Ya I love it when she helps me onnorojects and it really does help the bond.
I would love to have such a happy person doing my job and at the same time still get job done at a professional level
Thank you so much Fanzy!!
Watching this video in Perth, Western Australia. Thanks for an awesome video, I have 3 bedrooms to do and was unsure whether I could do it myself. Your video has given me hope!
love the sense of humor thrown in... and good instructions.. Im going to try this on my own... fingers crossed!
I seriously love this video ! Thanks to both of u for sharing and for making it one worth watching! I was apprehensive about the whole installation process but ur video gave me the boost of confidence I needed to finish my peel and stick floors. I watched a ton of videos and this one was by far the best. Thanks for keeping it simple for us not so experienced DIY-ers!
Keilly Parish aww you got it. Thanks for the support and I hope your floor looks amazing. It’s a easy install
From now on I'm coming to your channel for DIY tips. You're the first one to understand these videos need to be entertaining as well as informative. Good job. (BTW buy a microphone, they're cheap and will vastly enhance the quality.)
Andrew Myers is the audio that bad? I just got the Rode plus and put acoustic treatments in the shop. Hopefully that helps brother. And thanks for the awesome comment. Appreciate it.

Looks amazing. No clue it was for a shop. Very cool. Beautiful couple. Keep up the teamwork.
Y’all are so fun!! I used this exact flooring in my old cabinets instead of contact paper I love it
Your so fun that's a very large area for vinyl flooring i hope it holds up well in your shop. Thank God I dont need loads of your fancy tools to do this project lol. This or LVP is on my list of things to do for my hallway & bedroom.Cheers nice job as always👏👏👏
Thank you so much. Ya it’s been great and I’m actually in the process of editing an update video for it. Should be out soon
Thanks for the video. It's really helpful, and I like it very much. Especially that you are showing the whole process starting from cleaning. Most of videos are showing just last part of flooring. Thank you. Great job.
Alla Afanasyeva thanks you for the support!! Much appreciated
Giving this product a go tomorrow in my pop up camper renovation! Thanks for the video, was a fun and informational watch!
Daniel Cox Simone just commented and said they put it in their Motor home. So I’m guessing should look great in the pop up.
alot more work than it needs to be. i started laying tiles down at the left of the room working my way over then cut a tile in half and start 2nd row doing back & fourth. came out perfect. also didn't use al those chem prior to laying floor. just clean floor good & thats all & still looks great 2yrs later..
kudos2ya37 I’m sure you did a great job. I needed to clean the floor with a degreaser because it was new construction and I had everything from dust, oil spills and paint all over the floor. Just wanted to be sure it stuck because it’s getting a ton of traffic being a work shop. So far it’s holding up awesome and I’m so glad I went with the product. Appreciate the comment and support!!
Well, you might have gotten lucky because cleaning and sealing any concrete floor prior to an installation like this is one of the most important things that needs to be done if you want it done right.
No No...you are right! I used these in my home and that was about 16 years ago. I did use vinyl flooring glue to give it an extra hold. Other than that, I cleaned floors. Simple clean.
Love that y'all just had a blast and had fun. Very fun and enjoyable to watch thanks for sharing
Thanks so much Amber. It’s all about having fun with your family
This was fun to watch, the speed talking made me laugh, yes, a few important details in the speed talking but a quick rewind and I heard it the second time. Thanks for having a sense of humour with your videos!
Amber Williams your very welcome. We also did the same install video in our laundry room if you want to check that video out.
Thank you so much. This was very entertaining and it helped us learn how to do it ourselves. This will save us a lot of $$$ . Thanks 👍
Very welcome
Nice video, funny. I wish you didn't speed up through the informative info but, overall an educational and enjoyable video. I didn't think about the sealer and closing the gap in the concrete.
Ya after I posted it I though about the speeding up too. But glad you still got something out of it.
Very awesome! And Very Deja Vu! We bought the exact same flooring tiles for our poured basement! New construction, but just concrete and I just made sure the floor was clear of cat litter and dust before laying them! 750 sq feet and it's a LOT for one man! Again, nice job on yours and props for doing the prep!
RUclips TV thanks so much. Ya it’s a lot of work but the floor looks amazing and hold up so well. Glad we did it. And thanks for the support.
Awesome video, I’m in Australia, and I hope to lay these vinyl stick planks next week. Thank you, for your advice
Kylie T no problem. I’m sure it will turn out great Kylie !!
I absolutely loved this vid. Hubby and I are exploring options for our guest bathroom floor and laundry as well as a faux wood accent wall in the man cave. I love the chemistry of you and wifey as well. Thanks for sharing. New subbie here

Money sure brings happiness. Normally broke people aren’t this happy just saying my humble opinion. I do great so I’m always positive as well just an observation guys 👍🏿👍🏿
It’s not about the money brother, never has been. For me family is the most important thing. Sure money helps make things easier but won’t change your feelings towards your family, and they are the ones who make you happy, not the things you have. Trust me
Komar Project I understand that. I think you are missing my point. My very point is. That when one is doing well financially everything seems good and ok. Makes it that much easier. I’m with you it shouldn’t be s our money. But sure as hell helps us to be unconsciously happy when finances are good 😉
Komar Project everyone chooses their own faith. As for me. I’m off the Mary Jane and things seem to be better all the way around. Thank god for that.
I enjoy you show I will now subscribe my fellow human 👍🏿👍🏿
Excellent! Looks beautiful...thank you for sharing.
Thanks so much and your welcome.
You did an awesome job! Floor looks great. My husband and I are going to give it a try in our media room. We need something that will withstand heavy use and is easily maintained!
Amy Johnson thank you so much. It’s really holding up well in the shop. If you have any question during your process please feel free to ask anytime
Question: Why do you cut several short as you go on??? Is this just to have a different pattern look???
lol, great video. Wonderful sense of humor
Ryah Wolf thanks Ryan and thanks for the support. We did another video installing the same floors in our laundry room.
I wish I had your energy. Awesome!
icecreamlady driver hahaha thank you. Sometimes I feel like I need a sedative
Y'all really need to get into the RV scene. RV reno's would be such a great avenue for your channel! I am installing peel n' stick this weekend, wish me luck haha.
Alex Coughlin you know I heard that before. Lots of people have asked on here is it’s good for RVs. First I need to convince Honey Bunny to get one lol. Good luck this weekend
@@KomarProject Thank you for the positive feedback! My wife is who talked me into RV'ing and now we are becoming full-timers with our toddler and giant dog. There are a lot of RUclipsrs that ended up convincing us we should switch. Loftis Party of Six, Keep Your Daydream, Nomadic Fanatic, A Chick's Life and many others. My personal goal is to get a large AC metal building and flip Airstreams because there is a huge profit on those, as well as they are great trailers.
Great video... I usually do Pergo on my flips, but have been wanting something for those smaller rehabs!
Ya this stuff is super easy and less expensive then per go
Are you able to explain why you start in the middle of the room? Also, if you could explain how you're measuring your starting pieces and when you don't put the initial piece right up against the wall?
I’m curious too.
AI says: Keep in mind that most of the time, tiles should begin from the center of the room. This rule doesn't apply to every situation, but it's a good starting point. When it comes to floor tiles, starting from the center of the room will make your job easier, and the tiling pattern will be symmetrical.
452 subs?? Wat??😆You two r awesome..You did a great job and i cnt wait till ur channel grws lol yall so entertaining..looking forward to following ur Journey..subbing right now and heres a grt big supportive hug frm brooklyn New York City 😎😄😄
Stacey Ezell omg thank you so much for the love!!!!! Ya the videos are coming and getting funnier each time. Thanks again!!
my knees hurt just watching this......
How do you do the measurement for the chalk line ?
Also when you do the second row do you cut the plank in half or at what size ?
Why did you put a chalk line? Can’t you start against a wall? Also did you put the vinyl tile under the wall or just to the edge? Wondering if tile would move, on account it has nothing to keep it secured.
Floor looks great...nice and neat job!
Angela Dorsey thank you. It’s holding up so well too.
THANK YOU!!!!, JUST SAVED ME ALOT OF MONEY
Very welcome
Great videos! Your so funny! Thank you!
nice team work and nice video content.
butter dust thank you !!!! We had fun as always
Great Job , Team Work Makes The Dream Work 👍🏾
Always does. Thanks so much
Thanks for the awesome content. I’m curious about the concrete sealer and if the floor is still holding up well? The instructions state to NOT install on sealed concrete, but im not sure why?
If you are using the peel and stick do you still need to accommodate for expansion along the walls or can you put it flush? Awesome videos by the way.
its vinyl so it wont expand like wood. but i would still leave a little bit, about a 1/4" from the wall
@@KomarProject Thank you.
Floor looks great!
Neeta Ramesh thank you so much. Took some work but I couldn’t be happier
You guys are funny, I needed a good laugh thanks. The floor looks

Super informative!
Thanks. I also have another video installing them which has a lot of info
Good job! Loved this!
Excellent video thank you guys keep having funn!!
Ulises Mora no problem. Thank you for checking it out
About to get it going over here. I got the same brand too.. awesome!
Rsn Charlesirl let me know how it turns out and how it holds up. I’m totally in love with the floors so far. Probably best decision I made for the basement.
Thank you for the detailed video. Renovating during the pandemic 🥴Do you recommend this type of flooring in a high traffic living room? Are the floors cold? I read somewhere that this product makes living rooms look uninviting.
It can be cold. I have heard people put this in the living room but I would do something a little more inviting there. Like some nice engineered hardwood. It’s easy to install too
Thanks!
Thank you
Loved video. I'm using it too..
Thanks ...your a god send !!
Great job guys.... Love it so much...
Aliza Mohamad thanks you very much Aliza
You use some kind of thread to mark where the vinyl plan starts. Do you use it right in the middle of the floor? Great video btw and I love your interaction with each other!
@chonkydoge he used a chalk line. It’s a small hand held tool that has, I believe is cotton string, with a power chalk. You need to pull it tant to leave a chalk line.
I'm considering at the peel and stick to bedrooms, do I need to remove the molding first? Also, I would've loved if you would have shown a close up of the first alignment against the wall.
We did another video on the installation in our laundry room. Check out that video, should help you out a bit
Great information. Peel and stick vinyl flooring. Can I put this flooring on the wall.
I think you can. I have never done it but see other people use it.
Hey guys, really enjoyed watching several of your vinyl tile installation videos, truly well done and appreciated. You guys look like are having a blast, cool. Hey I have a few tiles along a wall (5"x 6-ft) section where I leveled the concrete with quikrete leveling patch product and the adhesive on the back of the trafficmaster tiles isn't sticking the tile and they're easy to lift off!!! Any ideas on how I could solve this?? Use an extra adhesive? Something in the quikcrete patch preventing adhesive to stick perhaps?? ALL IDEAS ARE WELCOMED, PLEASE AND THANK YOU.
Ya I’m sure there is something in the patch preventing it. I would apply some sort of adhesive that will float into the patch. Maybe contact the manufacturer and see what they recommend. I never ran into this before so I can really help. Sorry and good luck
@@KomarProject an engineer that I know suggested applying a cement primer over this area? And that this would allow it to adhere, any Thoughts?
My bedroom floor has been painted cement for way to long, I’m going to see if I can get something like this next time I redo my room
Great idea. Good luck
Thank-you
Thank you !
Great video! Silly question when you are cutting the piece to start the next row is it 1/3 or 1/2 of a plank?
You make it look like fun! Do you suggest letting the floor set for 72 hours after laying the flooring? I will be laying the peel and stick onto plywood and was told to let the vinyl set before moving furniture onto it.
labgirlreed ya that’s probably a good idea. The next morning I saw where the joints were but it settled down after a few days and you can’t tell unless you look hard. I put my tools on it the next day so it didn’t hurt it but it’s always good to be a little on the safe side. Can’t hurt it
@@KomarProject Thanks for the quick reply!
Great video 👍 can you put over laminated flooring ?
That I’m not sure of. I would contact the manufacturer just to make sure. Sorry couldn’t be more help.
Thanks so much for the video. How did the floor hold up?
I also have a basement woodworking shop. Mine is about 350 sq/ft and currently has bare concrete. Hadn't considered peel & stick until I watched your video. Now I'm leaning towards getting this product and installing myself. I'm thinking of installing about half of the room at a time so I only have to move my equipment to one side while installing flooring on the other. Do you think this flooring offers any protection to a dropped chisel or hand plane? And, does this flooring work overall for a woodworking shop? Thanks for putting out these videos!
Great video! Is it necessary to use a roller with these? I'd rather avoid that if possible!
This looks great! Just bought the same exact a few weeks ago. What’s the best way to prep a plywood flooring?
Jason Roche I’m not too sure about plywood but I would assume it’s the same way with sealing it. Make sure you get a sealer that works with plywood and you should be good. Sealing it will help a great deal with adhesion. Especially if there is some dust residue. Hope this help. It’s a fantastic product and it’s holding up great so far.
Awesome video Bart ... loved it.
It's really cool that you guys have fun whilst doing DIY :)
Congrats.
Keep doing what you are doing! Thanks for sharing !
Adrian
Adrian Bulibasa haha ya we have a blast doing stuff together. Have to make it fun!!! Makes the entire process so much more enjoyable.
Great video! Why do you cut the flooring in the second rows?
Great video! Did you leave an expansion gap or stick right up to the wall?
Question, maybe I missed it but since you started in the middle, it must not be dead center middle but instead aligned so when you get to the wall you have the fitment for the planks to perfection (or close to that as possible)? Did you mention that in video or is that common sense? having to vertically shave the planks would be incredible annoying to fit the wall.
I start in the middle and work out to the wall. Then I just cut about 1/4 off the wall and then that spot gets covered with a baseboard. Dosent have to be perfect on the wall side. Hope that helps
very good video
I would like to ask how long this self-adhesive vinyl lasts
So far we have had it for almost two years and still works great
I just laid this over our old linoleum. I'd read different thing's about having and not having to use primer dependent on whether you're going over wood/concrete, which are porous but linoleum isn't so I didn't need to use it. I'm nervous though now because even though it looks awesome, butted nice and tight etc, some of them feel like they are 'floating' a bit?? Think a hair dryer would help? I didn't rent a roller but maybe try that too?? Not sure but we love the floor! Been down barely a week.
We did a video putting this over vinyl as well and didn’t primer it. Your absolutely right about porous material needing to be sealed and vinyl should end have to be, at least that sounds right to me. Our floor is holding up awesome a year later. Maybe you should check that one out and see if the installation you did was the same. Hope this helped a bit
@@KomarProject Thank you! I will totally check that out :) Have a great Holiday weekend!
Would this peel and stick application work on a plywood subfloor? I'm thinking of pulling up carpet and putting this down. Looks great!
It doesn’t get any easier than this.Anyone can get professional looking floors installed themselves these days!
christph3118 sooo true !!!
Looks great! I wonder how it would last over plywood subfloor. Any thoughts?
OhYeahAboutThat ya you totally should be able to. Just make sure you seal the plywood. I heard people seal it with a primer.
Thanks! I haven’t had good luck with this kind over concrete. I wasn’t sure about plywood.
OhYeahAboutThat ya it should work. I also did a video installing it over existing vinyl flooring we had in the laundry room.
Komar Project right. That was the first one I watched! Thanks again.
Looks good! I am about to finish my basement so the flooring will be soon after. I was thinking of glue down vinyl plank. You have me considering peel and stick now. Any reason for your choice? Just wondering if there was any advantage or disadvantage to one over the other.
Initially I got these because of the price and since it’s in a basement I was worries about water damage from water that’s why we went with them. Since then I put them also in an office and laundry room and love them. You can go either way but these will be easier to take up if they get scratched or something. Hope that helps
@@KomarProject Without watching the video again did you J roll them mallet them or 100 pound roll them or just stomp them in place?
May God Bless You. It is helpful video.
Super helpful thank you
Nichelle Cairns no problem your very welcome.
Great video thanks!!! You guys are awesome
marci shiaman thank you soo much!!!
Hi loved your video! What should I do to put it on concrete thats painted gray?
Nothing really. The paint works like a sealer for the concrete. Just make sure it’s painted well and not chipping anywhere
What color or number were those that you used?! Saw them at Home Depot but wasn't sure how my floor would look when it's all done ..but that's is the exact look I want !! I love them !
Donna Ander the color is called gray ash.
Can you show how to remove it? Is there any residue left over? Or is it just as easy and clean?
Ya it comes up from concrete really nice with no residue. I replaced some planks recently and just popped in new ones. Video coming soon
If I have stamped concrete flooring and it’s not even what would you recommend doing since it’s not just a couple cracks in concrete? Also what did the flooring cost you for 1,000 SQFT and how long did it take you and your wife to actually install the flooring? Thanks so much & great video.. turned out awesome
Ginna R you need to level it out. Self leveling concrete probably your best bet. They are $0.99 per square foot for 1k.
How to clean? Do I need to seal. Ty Subscribed
You don’t need to seal the planks after install and we just clean it with a swiffer mop
Good job done but you have possibly done this the hardest way there is possible 😂
Great video. We have vinyl on the floor down stairs and it's just concrete under it but we want to use this kind of vinyl aside from what the builder did when building the house so would we need to do anything else to the floor other than clean it or add anything to it. We are redoing the kitchen, downstairs bathroom and the foyer
Shakena Mincey if you have flooring over the concrete now then they should have sealed it. But you never know with builders. I would throw a quick coat of sealer on it for the vapor barrier. It will help it stick too. Just in case
@@KomarProject okay thanks
Thanks for the video! Gearing up for my project! How long before waiting for the sealer to dry and applying the flooring? Is one or two coats necessary?
olivia717 the sealer I did dried in 24 hours. I put down two coats. You might be able to get away with one it just depends on what product your using. I would just follow the directions on the sealer.
This is really well made Bartski!! 🔥🙌🏾✌🏽🖤
Timmy Blackski that’s brother
I've heard great things about vinyl being waterproof...does this still apply to the peel and stick? I worry that water might get in through the seams but I also heard you cant finish vinyl...What do you think about this?
Just like with any other vinyl if may get in the cracks, but I have mopped my floor and even spilled water on it and it’s holding up well. As for finishing, I’m guessing your talking about wax, you shouldent have to. Not sure if you can
I 've had it for 9 yrs and it's great , I wash it as normally as I used to wash the tiles.
Where did u purchase i went to home depot and asked for the peel and stick but mine is pretty thick, i just wanted to give our pop up and cheap makeover
I got them from HD
do the planks sit flush with one another or is there small gap between the planks like there would between hardwood planks? Great vid
shumaelrock they sit flush next to each other. I did another video installing them and it shows how they lay next to each other a bit better then this one. Good luck
Yes! I’m for informative fun! Thanks!
No problem.
Would you recommend using the floor cleaner on a wood subfloor?
New Sub here.. love your vids. I had a question did you have to sand or how did you ensure the compound in the expansion joint is flat before sealing and laying the flooring? Thanks so much.
I would love too know this to. I’m putting this in my grandson bedroom. So far I’ve painted the ceiling, walls, and trim. Removed the carpet, padding, and tack strips. Now I’ve got small holes. I’ve scraped the floor. Now I have to wash, fill and seal the floor. Do I have to sand? The patchwork? I can’t wait to finish the peel and stick tile. Thank you for an awesome video.
I bought this floor for house renovation. I am a newbie when it comes to flooring installation. Where should be my starting point? Thanks :) for the help and boost in confidence
So whenever I layed my flooring , I found the center of the room (I used squares not rectangles), and I layed a row all the way across the room left to right , and also forward and backward. ( a giant t / cross ) without removing the paper. This allows you to be able to know if you need to move your center piece left or right / forward or back more to be sure you're not left with to small a piece on any of the sides. Then, I stuck my center square down and I got to work.
Also, I rolled my tiles as I set them. They sell small hand rollers , this is how I am sure my tiles adhered to the floor better .
I really didn't like the speed talking
Same, and it was the most important parts for me lol
You can change the speed
@@kwaks1979but why the fuck have it in the video anyway
