The 'MANDERIN' fish's proper name is the 'Manderin Goby'. There are many kinds of Gobies and they all share one trait; they lack a swim (or buoyancy) bladder. This means that if they aren't actually swimming, they sink. Wonderful fish to own as they are very entertaining. The narrator is also wrong about the diet and the keeping of the Manderin Goby. They are on the delicate side so do some homework before bringing one home. I personally have never had an issue with mine.
Ive kept a mandarin goby for seven years and it was full grown when I purchased it. However, before hand I done tons of research and cultured copepods after cycling my 100gal tank. I seeded it with pods for almost a year without predation. I had a 40gal with a few fish(2clowns,firefish,juvenile Reagan tang) Tang was main reason for upgrade. I bought mandi and moved everybody in to the big tank. I've had a few fish die through the years but one of the ones that has lasted strong and healthy is the mandarin. Number 1 for good reason.but not impossible to keep.Just do your research beforehand
CICHLIDS SHOULD HAVE BEEN ON THERE BEFORE SEVERAL OF THEM EVEN WERE THOUGHT ABOUT HAHA. SOOOOOO much color varations in cichlids its crazy. And only come from 3 ancient lakes that used to be saltwater. Pretty cool.....
I have Rosie Barb, Zebra fish, Neon Tetra, Molly, Guppy, Glowing colorful tetra, Platies, Gaurami and Red eye tetra fishes in a community tank and a male betta fish in different small tank.
And finally since when was it impossible to keep mandarins please if your going to tell people about these animals at least give true facts. Mandarins are super simple beginner fish now that they are being captive bred you can just give them regular fish food.
