Thank for this video. My nephew is on the U of TN coaching staff. I tried to do the epoxy one. Everything went well until almost the last pass the bit caught the epoxy and blew a hole in it. BUT I will take the blame as I did not wait long enough for the epoxy to fully cure.
Awesome video. I love the humble feel and "growth mindset" vibe and tone while at the same time putting out some amazing results. A refreshing break from the trend of woodworking hubris out there. Did you use Easel for the inlays?
@@randysgreatadventures3148 You bet. If you have a really porous wood with open grain it is always a good idea to seal the initial pocket you are going to pour tinted epoxy in as you would be surprised how far some epoxy will travel through wood and possibly stain the area. Best of luck!
@@seporte231 Congratulations. I use Easel software that is for the X-Carve CNC. I think you can you it for the Shapeoko, but think there are other options as well.
Great project and vid! Really liked the three different approaches. But, oddly enough, I've discovered a new fetish. Empty French cleat walls. Oh boy!! So much possibility!
These are awesome. I’m an epoxy hater, but this is a very acceptable use in my opinion. 😂
Thank you.
Very nice, great tips.

That’s a bummer. I would love to see the next one when you finish it.
Did you make or purchase the oversized router base, if purchased from where?
I actually made it on the CNC I had at the time.
@@stevemoseley9877 thanks
Very cool idea! I love the way the bowls turned out, I want to give this a try. You are right Odie's Oil is simply the best! It's my go to finish.
Is the fishing sutable for eating and washing?
It is food safe once cured. It should only be hand washed.
@@makingathome thanks for the response. I missed it in video, but, what products did you use for the finish?
@@JavierDeJesusSr It's Odie's Oil. The link to the product is in the video description.
Love the look and we all love chatoyancy…right?
Yes. I totally agree.
Very cool bowl. It would have been nice to see the design stage for the CNC file as well
Rally enjoyed your video. Where did you get the router base plates that you use for rounding the edges? Thanks
Thanks! I actually made the base plate myself on the Xcarve CNC.

Thank you. easel was used for the inlay.
I love your clamping method. Thanks for the idea and your project look Fantastic.
Thank you very much. Glad you enjoyed.
These are great tips! Thanks for sharing.
Now that's it's been over a year, how is the epoxy bowl holding up? Any issues with the wood expanding and contracting?
Not that I am aware of. I gave these all away as gift to some great friends, so I haven't seen them in quite a while. No reports of failure though.
@@stevemoseley9877 Thanks for the reply. Great work!! I'm always curious / nervous about using epoxy. I may need to give this a try!!

Awesome project, I must try it myself! SUBSCRIBED!
Glad you liked it!
Very nice. Well done.
You should try boiled linseed oil if you haven't yet. It gives almost the same look but will also keep your wood tool handles good for years to come.
Great. Thanks for the advice!
FYI when using the Z-probe you dont clamp to the bit itself, the clampis formed to fit on the collet itself for a more solid connection.
Thank you so much for pointing that out. I can’t believe I didn’t figure that out myself. Cheers.
Where do you the those white pads you put the odies on with?
ScotchBrite pads, B&Q, Homebase, any good DIY store or Amazon
Do you live in iowa?
Yes. In the Des Moines area. How about you?
@@stevemoseley9877 Ok were pretty close Im in Norwalk. Im interested in buying a cnc and watch your video's

Definitely - so much room for your imagination.
