This project was always a dream in the back of my head, but I was too nervous to try it. I even bought a pre-fabricated vanity and planned to use it. But then I finally mustered up the courage, and y’all… it was so much simpler than I’d expected! If this is a project you’re considering, I highly recommend!

The sink is perfect for that made vanity and the style of the bathroom.

Thank you for this video! This is exactly what I am doing with an antique New Home sewing machine, down to the square sink and all. Perfect for what I needed 💗

That cabinet was probably worth more than you’d think before you cut into it. It’s nearly impossible to find tables like that with all of the parts. Take the machine to a sewing and vacuum repair man it can most definitely be fixed. 4:42

What is with this millennial trend of destroying antiques for diy?!?! I hate it. Cringe every time, especially now.

Speaking from a materials science perspective, surface finish will 100% affect the performance of artificial aging solutions. Rougher surfaces will "hold" onto liquid solutions like you used easier than highly polished surfaces.

would you consider caulk-ing where the sink meets the antique top? Water that gets under there will cause trouble eventually

You looked pretty confident sawing those plumbing openings! Good for you, it turned out great. . . it just fits perfectly in the space.

Your home is beautiful. However, the brown you painted your bathroom is awful. There are hundreds of pretty colors you could have used. But, if you like it, that’s all that matters.

I just discovered you channel a week ago, love older homes and watching them brought back to life. I own/live in a craftsman as well. This cabinet is very pretty and such a great idea as a vanity. I saw the little drawers in the beginning but didn't see them at the end; where did they go? Are they from this piece or another piece. Just curious about the drawers and how much you were able to purchase this piece for. Thank you.

I had antique sewing machine with all the accessories for zipper feet, all types of goodies. I can remember my Mom making all our clothes in the 50sand before i was born for all my older siblings. Don’t waste money on computer sewing machines. Motherboards cost a fortune to fix. I bought a non-computerized sewing machine and love it. If you ever plan to make draperies, an industrial sewing machine might be a good plan. I worked in hospital laundry and for a couple of months, I helped in sewing room. Loved the sewing machines there! I’m not great at sewing, just know very basics. If I’m not sure, I ask a good friend if I have the right idea and go from there. 😊❤️🇨🇦

I respect your attention to detail and cherishing the quality and history of vintage/antiques. Blessing.
Perhaps the sewing machine can be decor because in and of itself, quite beautiful lines in its design.
How much research did you do for the plumbing? Fixtures are beautiful.

I have this White machine model that I restored and use it regularly. It’s a beautiful beast and a pleasure to sew with. With the attachments you can do anything a current day machine can do only better and continue to use it not in the cabinet for sewing tasks around your lovely home. Happy sewing.

we have a sewing cabinet currently living its best life as my family's charging station. 😊 our downstairs bathroom sink will be made from an iron sewing treadle(?) I'm brain fogging on the name, but those old iron sewing machine stands with the built in foot activated whirly wheel. You know what I mean. we found a sink that perfectly fits on top as if they were made for one another at the local ReStore. I can NOT wait to get started on this project. You did such a great job with this cabinet! I love when antiques ( or almost antiques) are incorporated into a home's active life. It's absolutely perfect. ❤❤❤

Renee, I enjoy your videos and appreciate your design/decor motif. I wish you would have incorporated your frustrating experience with the plumbing under the sink into the video, despite the poor lighting. If it were included, we all could have learned something important about plumbing along with you. Watching you encounter problems, conduct research (Google), and apply critical thinking would allow us novice DIYers to better understand the process. You already do this (very well) for other aspects (ex: restoring the cabinet). Watching you do it for the plumbing aspect would have been quite educational.
