This movie came out the year I was born. Strange to remember this was only 8 years after the end of WW2 and right after the Korean War. Everyone’s minds were still thinking military and war. I like to see what the world was like back then. I love old movies like this.
This movie really keeps you guessing! So unpredictable! Like, in my favorite scene so far (I'm only 10 minutes in) is when the guy chases her and says, don't worry. I'm not going to hurt you. Then he proceeds to grab her and slap her. This is the kind of terrifying thriller I signed up for. Anyway, back to the show! (Sorry/not sorry about the spoiler)
Keep in mind that the music in the background is an orchestra and director playing it. This is true for motion pictures made before synthesized electronic sound production in later years. Orchestras, of course, weren't entirely lost as John Williams' work shows us.
Did you ever notice how women in these 1950's B movies have no muscles in their legs? More and more actresses today have muscles, and that's a good thing.
I love this movie because it wasn't so dumded down like most of the Syfy movies of the day. At least there was some scientific method of beating the aliens . No stupid monsters with testicles or a guy in a gorilla suit with a helmet on it's head or any number of crappy movies of the day. Loved it!
I think you are missing the point. It’s not dumded down so much as things then were really not that advanced; despite the style. I don’t even think we’d launched a satellite 🛰️ yet even. I’m not sure if the transistor had been invented yet but certainly the transistor radio was not common yet. I recall a friend of my dad’s had a portable crystal radio. Think of the technology in automobiles. Nothing much had really changed, except the style for years. The military might have been ahead of the civilian sector but alot was kept TOP SECRET. My Grandmother was born in 1901; the year Queen Victoria in England died. Though the Wright Brothers had flown there weren’t yet commercial airlines. Trains were still, by and large power by steam engines. My Grandmother was born in 1901 and died in 1985. I often muse at the changes she lived through. In one lifetime from horse and carriage to outer space! I wish I hadn’t taken progress so much for granted. I’d love to ask her about it now if she were still alive. The dates I’ve mentioned are unchecked but roughly accurate. I ceased my interest in mechanics and servicing my own car with the advent of fuel injection! I’ve bought my wife a modern car with all the electronics. I wouldn’t be able to drive it myself though. She loves it. Do you know? Not only isn’t there a choke; but no starting handle either! Did you know that motorcycles these days have ABS brakes and TRACTION CONTROL. Good grief they’ll probably have seat belts on them too before long! Ai God help me! Until he does my wife can drive! Google all the dates of inventions yours. It’s fascinating to muse on so called progress and technology; which I do whilst I’m whittling. Best wishes, RAHG
Talk about oversleeping your alarm! I hate how physically close he is, considering that he's a stranger to her. I guess that's the least of this film's problems!
What college did this guy attend! The atmosphere of Venus is very hot and poisonous. IMDB estimates that the film cost $85k and looks like they spent $5 of that on the robots. 😂😂😂
But in the 50's the theory was that Venus was like Florida only lots MORE humid and with not even Florida's pretend winter. Possibly inhabited by frog beings. We hadn't yet sent probes to Venus. Heck, we'd hadn't even gotten anything to orbit our own planet. Plastics in the home were still pretty rare and taxes on our most wealthy could be as high as 80% on any amount not spent on capital improvements.
All anyone had to do is trip the wannabe range hood over. It wouldn't know what to do then. The aliens who built these tin cans must have the IQ of the British Parliament. Ha! And to think that somebody in Hollywood spent money filming this disorganized chaos..
@ That, I can understand. Kids can be very creative with their imaginations. As an older adult who was a kid during the 50s, I remember well what kids used to watch. For me, War of the Worlds and The Day the Earth Stood Still was a big deal in the fifties when CGI, home computers, tablets and smart phones simply did not exist. We were not savvy in the world of science but I’ll tell you what. We were always busy playing soft ball, baseball, riding our bikes, watching football, basketball and baseball. We were not glued to a smart phone. In those days we looked forward to becoming a fireman, pilot, scientist and so on. The future was bright and hopeful regardless of the Cold War. There were no drug cartels, or gang bangers all over the place. We didn’t drop F bombs all over the place. It was considered disrespectful to our families. In older cities, in certain neighborhoods, they did, but not where many of us grew up. If got into a fight, whoever was the better, walked away. Most times, the two became friends. No gunning for revenge and few if any Karens..
ahh those were the days, when men acted like real men, and those that failed at empathy were known as chump's 😂😂😂 should bring those days back 😂😂 couldnt get away with that these days, some woke maga would complain 😂
- Yes, Aliens from Venus. It was the best bet for alien life untill we killed them off in *Dec. 1962* with the first *Mariner* probe fly by. and we were shocked to find out that it was *700° hotter* than we tought possible! > Our first example of Runaway Global Warmimg, folks! __Venus warned us that it was possible on a global scale.
I love these old movies, keep them coming please 🇬🇧🇹🇷🇬🇧🇹🇷
I watch a LOT of 50's sci fi movies but have never heard of this one, despite it starring Richard Denning. Thanks for uploading!!
This movie came out the year I was born. Strange to remember this was only 8 years after the end of WW2 and right after the Korean War. Everyone’s minds were still thinking military and war.
I like to see what the world was like back then. I love old movies like this.
I love these old movies, keep them coming please
I know we just met a hour ago but I love you. It never fails with these old movies.
I first saw this in 1963 when I was 4. Scared me good!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The world could end and the women will still wear high heels
I try to watch EVERY Richard Denning movie ever made… while I am stoned!!
As I am stoned while reading your comment.
3rd bowl... absolutely absorbed into this nugget ✌️
@@monomarino5349LOL…..🥦… ever notice that there is no “weed” emoji available??
Sorry about your luck......
Sounds like a really good idea...😶🌫

He had to slap her. Women were always falling down in the fifties when trying to get away from something
I missed the part where he slapped her.
Wonderful, Those alien robots had fragile cathode ray tubes!
We are the Robots.
Brought to you by
Tobor, Gog and Magog. 😊
They couldn’t help stop laughing when the tinman showed up
Haven't been able to sleep for days since I saw the horrifying tinman at 28 minutes. Worse scare than Alien.
Sarcasm duly noted. 🙄
The year Ron Howard and I were born... in two different places, of course. These sci-fi movies are fun to watch.
Keep in mind that the music in the background is an orchestra and director playing it. This is true for motion pictures made before synthesized electronic sound production in later years. Orchestras, of course, weren't entirely lost as John Williams' work shows us.
Well, at the end this, they use some early electronic sounds (57:00). Gotta love these old movies.
I like watching them.
They were smart enough to get here!
My take-away was observing the several Motorola base station cabinets in the Army research lab ... circa 1950's tech.
I repaired many of these Motorola Transmitters. All tubes. Scary voltages. Hot as hell. :) Flashback! WOW!
19 1/2% grade... now that's accurate!
The early part of this flick is pure film noir.
Too scary for me. The tin man has a terrific speed advantage. They don't stand a chance 😊😅😮
Haaaaa
Tin men got them Frankenstein, Monster Mash moves….
It's the Governor from "Hawaii Five-O"!
Excellent. Thanks and subscribed.
This is so corny, it's good
Kind of interesting her neck is colorized from the pearls down as if it was part of a blouse. Hmm.
It does look strange! Especially when she runs across the street!
Yup. Colorizing went whacky. A lot of pale green hands and faces. Otherwise it's okay.
Now we know where Elon got his cyber truck design!
He must have watched a lot of these old movies.
Damn, you beat me to making that observation, although maybe our cooker hood duct tin man drives one ?
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Outside that “death ray” tin men didn’t have much of an edge on The Tin Man from The Wizard of Oz🤣🤣🤣
The good old teletype
You can tell it's colourized from black and white. From time to time, you can see the Grays on the faces and the hands.
Not a big fan of colorized films either. Prefer the b/w version
Well thank you very much, now I can't stop watching their hands and seeing the color change. haha
Hey…. while the world is ending… let’s pause for a smoke break!
This actress is gorgeous....
Things happen and a hour later it’s in the newspaper. 😂😂😂
@52:28.. too🤣 , film gets edited, prolly cuz everyone was screaming since they forgot to put their ear plugs in!!
“Better off upstairs” Genius! Those monsters couldn’t climb one step.
You know, some of these movies are so bad, they do a circle and come out fun to watch.
This wasn't one of them///
Looking for a radio in that first store when they have the whole town to themselves.
LOL the robot made me bust a gut!
Did you ever notice how women in these 1950's B movies have no muscles in their legs? More and more actresses today have muscles, and that's a good thing.
Probably starving themselves, and 80 packs of cigarettes a day
Yes!
@@Arbysroastbeefjuicehaaaa🤣🤣🤣🤣
It was looking ok till we got the tinman at 28 minutes. Couldn't take any more, sorry.
That was my favourite part! Were you scared??
Thanks for the tip, saved me 28 minutes
That part gave me nightmares as a kid. A must watch for the brave among us.
Me too
It was produced in '54, whaddya expect!
Maybe those aliens should use wheeled walkers to get around a bit faster.
28:20 Bad robot! It's worth watching.
Yup, future proof AI robots. If Google make them like the tin man out of Oz and not like Arnie Schwarzenegger, I can sleep easy... 😴
In beginning it sounded like maby a dream scape, with footfall 'in a hallway' sound effects.
Great old movie
How can you wake up one morning and find the whole place deserted?

Psycho killer's plan of escape made the most sense.
Looking at those steep streets It must have be filmed in l
There’s low budget and no budget. I wonder which one this is?
It's amazing how cheap it used to be to scare people.
This is scary to this day
Everyone is choosing to ignore the opening scene huh....reach out for help..988.
Tinman robot would give Gort a run for his money.
They're wearing almost IDENTICAL suits!! Probably to remind the audience a metal 🤖 is hunting them. 😁
Very nice film to watch.
Colorized version is even harder to watch..
I’m not going to hurt you says he, then he slaps her and says “that’s better”
Measuring in mm in 1954. what country is this
The grey lady
I thought she had sheer material across her chest!
I thought they had grey gloves on
is it just me or is Denning a cross of Redford & Bowie?
Good movie, but It still bugs me that they had several chances to jump that fool with the gun, but yeah I know. It's only a movie! LOL
How the hell do I "Hop" in a jeep??? I'd rather get into a jeep. I'm too old to hop....lol
Fairly common phrase for those days.
Just think, in 1954 people had to pay to see this movie!
One of the better made 50's sci-fi movies. But colorization was unnecessary.
Love these old sci fi flicks. The colorizing was funky & annoying. Nothing wrong with staying with the original black & white.
30 minutes in... OMG this is some hokey shite!!!! 😂😂😂
I'll take robot from lost in space anyday
Isn't that the wolfmans son. What his name?? And I'm a oldy
I thought I recognized him as Lon Chaney Jr as well!
I ment tentacles. Sorry gang 😮.
I was enjoying this till the tin man appeared 😂
Talk about oversleeping your alarm! I hate how physically close he is, considering that he's a stranger to her. I guess that's the least of this film's problems!
Lot's of funny things...
Cool scfi B movie
5:56 There is a man on the road (C'è un uomo in strada)!!..??? 😳🤔
Tin man ruined the movie. All by itself.

The colorizing makes this movie almost unwatchable
Tin man was borrowed from the Wizard of Oz.
Kinda like watching a NASA moon landing
Hell, if the world’s going to end and monsters are going to kill yo, might as well fall of the wagon, have a cigarette and a few laughs.
He's pretty bossy.
Good old flick. But the colorization is just annoying.
Good film colourisation not so good

They need food but only bring back booze.
The colorization looks ridiculous.
Look at the fake officer in the back.
Lomg winded show that could have been done in 20 minutes
Dialogue in this movie is laughable 😅😅
For some reason just about all the movies made in the 50s were corny as shit. 🤣
Women know your place 😂
Pretty dumb, and full of plot holes. Terrible job of colorizing an old black and white movie.
28:00 Tinman. How To Get The Look! For this, you will need some large flexible pipes, an old steel filing cabinet... :0)
Does this robot say Danger Will Robinson Danger like the other one.
OMG what if this happens will we be ready God help us all against the machines
The ending for people that cant wait.
