An "oldie but moldie"! I saw this in the 1960's when we had 3 channels on TV, ABC, CBS and NBC. They showed this movie on Saturday afternoons when they had the local station play whatever Sci-Fi movie they could find on the cheep. Great memories!
Still a good 1950 film, considering that this movie was made in a hurry to beat George Pal's high budget full color movie "Destination Moon" to the punch. Original movie was filmed in black and white so this colorized version varies a little in accuracy. When Elon Musk revealed his Starship, my first thought was that it reminded me of Rocketship X-M.
One 4 mins into the film. We get the woman screaming. No darkies, no trans, no one with ADHD , No gays in trouble. No divas singing rubbish. No woke , no children, no childhood dramas. And no Oprah Winfrey.
Wow! We wasted all that engineering and resources to build the Saturn 5 , when all it did was to barely get 3 men to the moon, and back. When a rocket a fraction of that size would have been plenty! These guys had tons of people, thousands of pounds of tube based gear, and a 10 foot ceiling to boot. And beyond all that, there was plenty of room for that chick to look perfect every day!
The moviemakers back then didn't know that there is no gravitation out there, or maybe they supposed that the rocket could have its own gravitation. They just didn't know how.
There is still the gravitational field due to the sun, earth, moon, etc. since the field falls off as (distance)^2 it can be weak. Of course these details weren’t taken into account in these old movies. But they are still fun to watch.
They're six minutes from launch, and they're still outside, conversing. Meterorites making sounds in the vacuum of space. Gravity that affects only small items within the cabin.
If that clumsy oaf hadn't bumped into Lloyd Bridges as he was pushing the speed control, this disaster could have been avoided. If you want to go to the moon, you have to plan for all contingencies and design the ship for safety.
@ To “progressives,” anyone with a different point of view is a fascist. You cancel them, remove them from their jobs, and try to incarcerate them. “progressives,” in fact are the 21st century version of the SA. A bunch of thugs who spend their time complaining about people like Musk when in reality most of them without exception are unfit to even clean Musks toilet.
Personally, I think it’s ridiculous to send Mike Nelson to the moon. 🌙 😂 after all. He’s the underwater guy that’s always telling us to stay underneath our bubbles.🫧🫧🫧
Reasons this movie tanked. Dialogue was trite, story and events kind of boring, and no chemistry between the actors. Lloyd Bridges was offered the role of Captian Kirk, but turned down all sci Fi roles due to the failure of this movie.
Dress as you want for space travel -- sandwiches and soup for snacks! The good old days before NASA over-complicated it all ! :0)

Dr. Lisa Van Horn. What a stunner. Nuff said.
Wonderful movie and young Bridges and Hugh movie such a clean cut movie of the past looking into the future....space travel. Cool.
Bridges is a certified SCUBA
Diver. He had his own show in the 50s and early 60s
Called Seahunt
Great show
Captain is even wearing a tie during take off 😂😂

Yes I recall thinking tghe same thing.
me too, only 'better' CGI !
I love these old movies! They're so...quaint.
I am 15 minutes into the film, so how long before the woman loses it and Screams?
token female. Later sci-fi would add the token blackman and black female who dies after 1/2 hour.
Maybe add some token space suits and zero gravity.
At 16:42 into the movie she starts screaming and tears off her clothes and jumps out of the starship... 🤣🤣🤣

ian, not this movie, not this babe, pard.
Where is the restroom on that rocket?
It is outside...?
@@taofledermaus ...outside...haar !
This is a great science-fiction classic and I love it! Modern-day producers need to learn from these Golden Age masterpieces! 🙂
We all had freakishly huge bladders in the 1950's, hence the lack of bathrooms. Never even thought about #2. Forbidden subject.
The real Rocketship XM is at Starbase, Texas.
Thank you for this movie
I have always enjoyed this movie for 70 yrs
Was good and still a great movie today...so was Destation moon
love the chem trails they added on
I LOVE the way chicks wore their hair back then.....Man'
Luv these charming innocent sf movies.
I have heard about catching a flight "last minute", but to the moon? Wow, they cut it close...
Was thinkin the same. Phew were they ever cutting it close.
Jeff and Beau Bridgets dad, Lloyd, 🤣
Yes.
Very funny. Dressed like they are on Safari....
I love how good the gravity is on the this "ship" out in space.
*Spoiler alert*
This was surprisingly engaging, with an ending that runs counter to the feel good (the really important people survive) trope.

I remember watching the John Glenn flight around the moon in Grade school in our auditorium...those were the days.
John Glenn never left earth orbit.

mars was filmed in death valley in 1950!
Did you know they used it to train astronauts fo4r the Moon.
Surprising amount of spiritual stuff that won't be seen again till Tarkovsky/Kubrick.

Looks like New Mexico to me
26:09 Huston we have a problem.
Blues skies in Mars 😂
Too bad we didn't see a treaty between Terra and Mars here as those cavemen and their ability to throw things could have made them rich thru the NFL>.
Just casual ware going to the moon, 🤣
Space X would be jealous!!! 👽👾🤖🤖😜😛😜🤪🤪😝
"The weaker sex. The only one who's blood pressure is normal"
I showed my wife this. I now watch TV and sleep alone.
Ten minutes from 'Any questions?' to take-off? In ya dreams. Don'cha just love those extraordinary 'spacesuits'?
Thank you. Say what you want, but I enjoy those old science fiction movies much more than all this modern cr...p that Hollywood has been making.
Elon definitely watched this movie when he was a kid 😂
😂The voice of the countdown says"One minute" and then says "Seventy seconds"??? !!! Hoo Boy! How did nobody catch that???!!!😲😂
LOL!!!!!
when did they tell em no need seat belts man 😂
I miss the days when astronauts carried fire arms just in case some space ass hole shoed up.
*HAGSETH: what! why is there a woman in the Space Force???* 🤣
cciertamente en este film, las leyes de la fisica no existen propio !!!!!
Where is Elon Musk when you need him? Great movie…Thought provoking and realistic especially for it’s time.
HE WASN'T BORN YET, MAYBE THIS MOVIE GAVE HIM GREAT IDEAS.
He's bussy wading through an orange swamp of lies and crime.
Who really "needs" elon the fascist ?

"inter solar"
'GYRO' in 2554px and blinking neon...
MUST be early last century... Or maybe even the one before that...
Typo in the title... should be 1925.
im getting repulsed at this guys pick up lines. is this a romance?just cause it old its not good goofy daffy hollywood crap;
Not nearly enough dialog...
Personally, I think it’s ridiculous to send Mike Nelson to the moon. 🌙 😂 after all. He’s the underwater guy that’s always telling us to stay underneath our bubbles.🫧🫧🫧
Sea Hunt? You are referring 2? I liked the show
Nice movie where everyone dies at the end
The same happened in SW-Rogue One.
@@ZulcanPrime And "Dark Star".
I don't know???

Les valio madre la ingravidez😅 iban desplazandose de lado o como??? Y pensar que en 19 años ya estaban en la luna😂
Texas Rocky sure is irritating!
I agree i am sick of women screaming and being wimps
Thankfully I found areadily availcopy that is oin the original monochrome format - I cannot tolerate these so-called 'colourised' versions.
Pretty goofy. They clearly didn’t consult any physicists. The jacket becomes weightless but people not. WTF (what the floats). 😂😂
It bombed.
well, the tinfoil asteroid attack at 36:42 was top notch sfx
I HATE colorized shit!
