    Today, we go through the steps we took to build this custom stair landing. On any normal situation, the standard is to install 3/4 inch hardwood with a stair nose, however this customer wanted a solid platform in lieu of flooring the landing so . . . that is what we did! Check it out if you haven't already!

    Great video. Where did you buy your oak treads? I need to buy 52 inch treads for my stairs.

  • @austinr.6452

    Question, how many times did you run the treads through the table saw 59 make the groove? I’m sure a least a couple times to take in account the table saw blade width and the dowel width. I am assuming you measured the height of the table blade as well for sticking up
    Thanks in advance!

      I'm not sure it I know. I did run them all before I change anything so they would al stay consistent. But it was really trial and error. Kept cutting and testing until both plank cam together. Practice with a couple scrap pieces til you get it dialed in. Hope that helps. Thanks for the question.

    I just finished cutting and gluing my landings and staining my treads, now I am ready to install, but my 18 guage Riobi Airstrike is not strong enough to push the 2 inch nails through the 1 inch oak. Some go in, some don't/ I was wondering if an 18 guage pneumatic brad nailer is better. Please advise

      I think air nail guns are more powerful than electric ones

    Great job. Looks awesome. Could you tell me how far that bullnose sticks out ? Is there a standard length to overhang it ?

    • @YOUFLOOR
      @YOUFLOOR  Год назад +2

      Hey, Tex. There really isn't a standard for how big a stairnose should be. You just don't want to make it too big as you don't want to trip going up the steps. Codes for your run are supposed to be 10 inches. So if you are using 2 x12 with 1/2 inch thick risers. Your stair nose would be 1 1/4 inches. 2x12 are 11 and 1/4 . So 10 inches plus half inch riser leaves an inch and a 1/4. You can fudge your finished treads, but generally, mine hang over about an inch with these. And then I usually nail a cove molding underneath. Makes for a nice
      Looking stairnose. However, this customer did not want cove molding under the thread. Hope that answers your question. Thanks for the comment
