In todays video I show you how I made a false floor for my Fiesta ST for under $75! I walk you through how to delete your rear seats as well. Hope this motivates you guys to give something like this a shot. Was a fun one for sure and definitely reduces some weight as well which has many benefits.
You do not have to use the same methods or materials that I used but this was my process and wanted to share with you all. And I didn't use wood bc that would defeat the purpose of weight reduction.
Measurents:
48 inches from the top all the way to the bottom
45 from bottom to top of curve
4 feet wide at top
39 inches wide at the shallow portion

Looks clean. But if I could make a minor suggestion. Plywood over using the foam. You still want a useable space. Even if it means cutting the plywood into 2 or 3 sections for fitting. You can also beef up the plywood by nailing or screwing in some 1x3 to the underside as a kind of built in sub frame. Little extra cost over this build but not by much. And you don't have to worry about glue eating through the foam. So you could use fabric adhesive to help your material of choice adhere better.
Im about to get my Fiesta at the end of the year and im so excited, especially because of you. Im showing your videos to everybody telling them thats what I want my Fiesta to be like. Your channel is very underrated keep up the good work, greetz from germany
Thanks for the kind words Nick!! Can't wait for you to enjoy your own ST 😁🤝🏻
Fiesta gang is beat gang
“Genital shape”🤣 great video man!
Thanks bro 😂😂
Straight to the point. Nice video mate. I'll be having a go at this 👌🏻
Appreciate that! Tag me on IG when you do it.
I'll be sure to do that.
EXCELLENT JOB!!! LOVE THE CONTENT!!
Aye you’re hella funny bro 😂
Videos are super helpful too
Ur build is dope bro ! Hope you keep going
hahah appreciate that man!!
Bro I did this with thin plywood why did I not think of foam!!!
Awesome video!
Hahah thanks man!! 🙏🏼
your making some wholesome videos, keep it up bro
bruh i needed this thank you so much. also nice karate chops lol.
Hahah glad to help m8!
Great video and clean setup! How loud is the cabin of the car? Ran my FiST without the rear seats for a lit bit, put them back in because it got too loud on longer drives lol.
Thanks! Pretty loud hahah. But hoping to have a daily soon enough to use on longer drives.
@@SmplBuilds Haha dang! Was hoping the foam would dampen the noise a little. Oh well, such is racecar life lol
@@RoyalyDrunk I would suggest putting sound deadening on the bottom since you have everything out. I'm thinking I might do this, but use a stronger material (wood) then foam to support more weight as idk how much weight the foam would support.
@@TheMainMan318 I've already put the rear seats back in, just until I can come up with a plan for the noise. I think if you did the a thin sheet of plywood along with the foam you would get the rigidity for weight and the foam to help dampen the noise.
@@RoyalyDrunk yeah that's a good idea. There are a few posts on the forums about sound deadening and the best places to put it. Since the seat bottom is so easy to take out I'll probably start there and the rear trunk area. One of my biggest complaints is just how much road noise I hear with the FiST
Removing back seats in my Fist came out about as well too lol
Would've take 10x longer without my impacts hahah
What a cool mod, I love it; genitally speaking...I mean generally speaking.
😂😂
2mins and 6 seconds… Thanks for the fascella construction plug😂
Always homie hahaha
Best to cut kingspan with a saw
*Did you notice if the cabin noise gets louder without the back seats?*
Funny you said that. I just recently took my false floor out and its crazy the difference it makes in sound. Without the back seats its definitely a little more cabin noise but the Styrofoam false floor absorbs a ton of noise. So without the false floor, its so much more road noise with just the back seats out
@@SmplBuilds *Thanks. How's the handling with all the weight gone in the back?*
Can you make a rear diffuser diy
I want to in the future! We'll see
Sweet 👌
Thanks!
Any idea where to get the fabric? Love the videos!
Joannes fabrics 👍🏻 Thanks!
looks cool but why would you want to turn a 45 door car into a two seater maybe a 3 door would have been mre fitting
Bc racecar
45 door car
@@arekkusutsuki1119 it's a limo
why did you you use foam? Are you not planning on putting anything in it?
Its thick foam it will hold up. Don't plan on using it for much though
if he changes his mind, he could easily add 1/5 luan on it and re-carpet it. Light, but strong. (that would have been a great way to future-proof it, but It's not like he's going to carry 50lb bags of river wash or quickcrete. I was thinking to make one similar, but w/luan over thinner foam and then hinge it where the cargo meets the seat bottom. That allows loading taller items through the door, side to side. Plus getting it into the car w/o breaking the wings. I've already put butyl sound mat in the whole back area and down to the rear floor. I'll add ensolite closed when I do the deck lid, but it is behind the plastics already.
That is fantastic
Im a father of 6 with a Toyota sienna minivan. Id like to see what you'd do with that lol.
Yeah, think I'll just keep the rear seats in..... too much hassle
Hi. What is that big round thing when you took out the left seat❓
Hello. I think what you're referring to is the access to the fuel pump
SMPL carpentry!
Ahaah yessirrr
Just a thought. If you used steel, it would be more rigid, plus it would lower the car several inches while keeping the original suspension (for a while).
Honestly, I like this idea, except as SOON as I did it, I'd need the back seat in. Looks great, though!
Thanks!!
Steel is a terrible idea, aluminium sheet maybe onto of the foam, for lightness
Sheeeeeeeeeeeshhhhh 🥵🚗🔥
Ahahahha 😎👌🏼 thanks 💯🔥
How much weight do you think it would hold ?
Hmm good question. Maybe 100 pounds if its Dispersed evenly
@@SmplBuilds no back seat shenanigans 😭
Let me get those rear seats tho🤔
How much?
5:38 dude said genital shape 😭😭😭
Need a 3 door otherwise it looks so weird
Please do not chop me with The Hand of Death!!
He cute😍
I couldn't help but laugh, working on cars DIY. There's always another sodding bolt or screw hidden
RIP headset users
Think you could have done a better job of this if i'm honest. Why use the foam when you could have done the same thing in ply or chip board? looks nice and the video was good but i would have used something else.
It's lightweight. That's why he used it.
@@billyfinnegan9265 it is but it's not strong, it wouldn't have added so much weight to have used plywood or something else. If he was really serious about being light weight he could have put fiberglass over the foam.
@@liamholcroft7212 its strong enough for the purpose it's used for. It also has fantastic sound deadening. Great idea.
@@billyfinnegan9265 for aesthetics and sound deadening, I agree it's strong enough. But you can't put anything heavier in it, which is why I'd use something stronger.
5:40 our genital shape????????
1st 😂😂
Lets gooo 💪🏽😂
